I'd ravingly give this chair 5 stars easily except for a weakness in the construction. I lean heavily back on any office chair I've ever had, and on this one, all the weight on the hollow back knob pressing against the hollow back of the chair causes it to literally start cracking. The last one I purchased I did not heed this and the knob broke through. I ghetto-rigged it on the inside with plywood and a lot of screws through it, because it was so comfortable to sit in for hours that I really loved the chair. I got a new one, and I created a hardwood plate for the back of the chair to spread the weight along the back of it, and this prevented the back of the chair cracking but after nearly a year the knob itself ripped off. Again, love the chair so much I went to a hardware store and purchased a bolt and washers and screwed it back together.Alera took the trouble to make an adjustable "stiffness" of the spring that makes the chair lean back (picture: underneath seat) as well as the usual tilt/lock bar (picture: sticking out the side of the chair) and you can adjust the height of the back of the chair.Alera: really well done on creating a very comfortable and very low costing chair with these three adjustabilities. Please fix the one construction fault so I can give you 5 star. I will keep buying these chairs.

Love it, use it for work has plenty of support. Would definitely buy another if I had to. Little pricey though.

Looks comfortable in pictures but the fluffy looking cushions turn out to be hard as a rock. It's a shame that a quality chair can not be manufactured.

This is a comfortable task chair. No as some reviewers have noted, it's not a living room recliner but, it's a comfortable chair for people who WORK seated.My negative on this unit is the instructions. Hey guys is there a worldwide shortage of ink? I didn't have any problem putting it together but, the instructions sucked, hire a competent illustrator and your reviews/sales will improve! That said, the unit is good quality for it's price point.

I ordered this on 04/08, and it arrived at my home on 04/10. It was well packaged, and arrived with no damage or missing parts. The total time from opening the box, to complete assembly was 30 minutes. The instructions are more pictorial than written, yet easy to follow. It came with extra assembly bolts. The fabric is sewn well, with no pinching. The cushion is firm, and feels like a quality product. The castors are of a good quality as well. I am a large person, and this chair/castors takes my weight with no problems with mobility with me sitting in it. The piston (height adjustment) works great. After several hours of shopping on the web and in "regular" merchandise/office supply stores, AMAZON had the LOWEST price.There seems to be a level of quality with this style of chair; the below $100.00 price chair, and the over $100.00 price chair. My research found this product to be a hands down winner for a chair priced less than $100.00. It is a well constructed, comfortable chair that has great mobility.

The descriptions all say the chair has a tilt adjustment; IT DOES NOT. You can 'unlock' the seat and lean back against a stiff spring. Otherwise it only has one locking position.Unfortunately that one locked position is really uncomfortable. The pictures show a flat seat; it is not flat, it is always tilted slightly backwards. Rather uncomfortable since all my weight is on the front edge. As I type this, my right leg has gone to sleep despite constant shifting. Argh.If it was non-adjustable and in the perfect position, that would be great. Unfortunately, it's not :-| Oh well, it was cheap. I won't feel bad cutting it open and grinding the tilt plate down until it sits flat.

I don't have much space so this chair suits my needs. Its a task chair so its not as comfortable as one of those nice cushioned office chairs, but its not uncomfortable. The back does not tilt so you can't lean back..I could have bought it cheaper at a box store, but with the lock down due to the covid-19 virus, its was safer to order this online.

Good chair for the price. I bought it for my wife's computer table, and she could not be more pleased. It's comfortable and very sturdy. The only problem I found is the "tilt" function. I'm 210 pounds, and I have to work to get it to tilt. Even with the spring in the "soft" position (wound all the way out). I would recommend this chair.
