I chose this book because of a friend's recommendation. The story is totally engaging and very believable. I enjoyed it.

Funny in Three Acts
Rene Gutteridge creates believable characters that are interesting and just a bit off center. This is just one of the reasons why her novels are so enjoyable. Her writing doesn't depend on graphic sex, violence or language to advance the story. As I get to know the characters better, I want to know more about what happens to them. In "My Life as a Doormat" Leah Townsend has a predictable life with a predictable (read boring) boyfriend and together their predictable relationship has no surprises. When Leah shows up at a conflict resolution group that she thinks her boyfriend signed them both up for, she is shocked to find out that he expected her to attend by herself. If you think being safe is the best you can hope for in life, join Leah to find out what can happen when you learn how to say no.

Bahahaaaaaaa!
Oh my goodness! This book! I couldn’t have read it at a better time! It perked up a day of quarantine that’s for sure. I went from little giggles, to a chuckle, on to outright loud laughing (much to my sleeping husband’s dismay), snort-laughing, yelling at characters, crying over them, cheering... I loved the story so much, I bought copies to share with my fellow book snobs. And they too approved!

A totall enchanting read
I had the opportunity to attend a class by the author. Everything she taught about writing funny is in this delightful read. It's a love story wrapped up in a ton of hilarity. Every woman who is nervous about expressing her true feelings will relate to Leah. Lots of great story twists, family drama, and personal angst. I loved it!

Life's twists can grow some testicular fortitude!
This is a fairly quick read as we follow an uptight young lady through her humorous journey to find her self worth and therefore her happiness. I came to read this book via a book club recommendation. I'm glad I read it and would recommend it for some lighthearted reading.

Great book. Just what I needed to read at this time!
This was a fun read. I needed something light, no war or politics 😁I recommend it for any aged woman! This is a wholesome love story that causes you to consider if you are living the life of a Doormat, or stand up for yourself.

Fantastic Book
I saw the Hallmark movie based on this book and knew I had to read it! It’s even better than the movie. What a great writer. I’ll be reading more of her work.

and I highly recommend it.
I'm a big fan of Rene Gutteridge, and have been ever since I read this book, and the Boo series. The main character, Leah, is very relatable, and I could identify with her struggle to be true to herself and not live to please everybody else. There are also some humorous situations, particularly in Leah's support group, that made me cringe at first, and then laugh. I've read this book several times over the years, and I highly recommend it.

Enthralling read
I wanted to read the book to understand the character 's journey to understanding her true self. I really appreciate it. I have seen the film that was based on the book and prefer the book but still appreciate the film. Thanks for sharing Rene.

Fun read
I watched the film (Loves Complicated) before reading the book and loved it. I loved the book just as much. It's funny, easy to read and grips you right from the beginning. I read it in a day I couldn't put it down.

Ich kenne den englischen Film...
... und wollte nun gern auch das Buch lesen. Ebenfalls sehr unterhaltsam, aber doch auch mit Tiefe. Viel zu schnell fertig gelesen!
