Used to stabilize a grade 1-Grade 2 rear hock injury in a 4 year-old English Setter Bird Dog
Grade 1-2 ligament sprain/damage to rear hock. Damage to ligaments takes an extremely long time to heal due to the very limited blood supply to ligaments. The lateral and medial flattened metal spring supports in this brace gives best support to facilitate the long term repair of this injury. My setter wore the brace on a daily basis for 8-10 months prior to the fall hunting season. I took the brace off at night. During the fall hunting season, she wears the brace during her 1-2 hunts. I found that I had to put black electrical tape around the Velcro straps when hunting her to keep the brace from coming loose and falling off. The only draw-back with this brace is that the hair and skin on the hock does get chaffed when I am running her. This is the best available brace for her injury. I would not be able to hunt her without this brace. She now gets her normal 1-2 hour hunts for 40+ days in the NH upland bird season along with my four other setters.

Did not fit my dog properly
I don't want to say it was a bad purchase even though I returned. It just did not fit my chihuahua/terrier snug. It is made well. I would still say buy it and try.

Bailey's Story
I gave this brace a 3-Star rating based mostly on the size chart and the limited description & sizing information. So be cautious when trying to size this brace. Dogs come in various shapes and sizes much like us people do! The size chart provided doesn't take into account various lengths of a dog's rear pasterns in relation to their hock joint (basically the area we'd call our foot arch). The size chart has you measuring for the circumference above their hock joint only. They don't offer any information on the length of the brace. Both top & bottom of the brace I received were identical in length and so I wasn't able to make any adjustments with placement other than tightening/loosening with the velcro straps. My dog is a 90lb long-hair Rottweiler, so while she is considered a large dog and the circumference of the large brace was the right size, the brace didn't fit due to the length. Her rear pasterns are short & the brace interfered with her ability to walk because it extending around her hind foot. We ended up ordering a brace from another seller that offered more information on sizing. We did keep this brace in case we needed it for one of our other dogs in the future. I did want to share more information on why I purchased a brace in the first place and my recommendations for other dog parents looking to purchase a brace...I bought this for my Rottweiler Bailey, she injured her doggy ACL - it's actually called the CCL. After her injury, she has difficulty getting up from laying down and she is prone to reinjuring it. Her body has already done a significant amount of remodeling, this is where her body works at stabilizing the leg on its own and is actually producing bone. The bone she is producing is adding bone where bone wouldn't normally be and this has caused arthritis in her knee. We bought this brace to give her a little extra support when exercising, getting up, and on bad days. Just like humans with arthritis different conditions, like the weather, can cause flare-ups with her arthritis - so when I say bad days, I mean on cold, damp, and rainy days. We don't rely upon the brace for everyday support, as it's not intended for that. As for my recommendation on this product or any other brace on the market, I would suggest asking your vet if they believe a brace would be beneficial for your dog specific needs and then after purchasing but BEFORE using I would take your dog to your vet for proper placement & ensure that the brace you purchased is the right style & fit for your dog.

So happy for my fur-baby, what a difference!
My little 15 year old Yorkie had to have one of her back leg removed 9 years ago. Her remaining leg was getting very tired and stressed. This brace is amazing! Before she would take 2 or 3 steps and her leg would fold. Now she is walking around like she use to. I am so happy for her. Only problem is knowing is it tight enough or too tight. I keep checking it. I haven't tried the harness and hip brace yet and may not have too.I will send a video soon. Thank you so much this is fantastic!

Excellent support for injured hock.
I adopted a white german shepherd with a broken hock...poor baby. This was the first thing I purchased to help support her healing process. It is easy to put on and take off and give adequate support without being too heavy or cumbersome for mobility. Worked great for us!

Works
The media could not be loaded. Our 9yo mixed breed, has only been using 3 legs to walk and seemed to be in a lot of pain. After a trip to the vet, we were told she has a torn ACL. I decided on this brace, after reading many positive reviews. It has given her the stability to be able to walk on her leg again. It was easy to put on, is very good quality and she does not mind having it on all day. We take it off at night, while she is sleeping. I just bought 2 more, so we can wash them, as I plan to have her wear the brace daily. Thank you for a great product!
