BOSE Solo 5 TV Soundbar Sound System Sleek Slim Design Bluetooth Connectivity, Black (Renewed)

Things to keep in mind (pros & cons) - - there are no physical buttons on the soundbar itself, which means that you need the remote to control or adjust the source of the sound - the remote itself is quite bulky but since since it works as a universal remote, it can easily replace the TV remote (I personally don't have cable - so my 2 remotes are that of the soundbar and my Apple TV - but I can see how it would be annoying with a 3rd cable remote) - Since I have an Apple TV, I paired the soundbar as a bluetooth device, which allows me see the 'scale' of the sound - alternatively, when I'm using my TV antenna, the volume sound doesn't show which is a bummer. - I have a westinghouse TV, nothing fancy so the sound is just okay. This really is a nice addition, it has a dialogue/voice feature that clarifies the conversation. - it's a nice compact design and blends in easily. Just as much, for something that doesn't have a subwoofer (I may be wrong on my terminology), it can certainly feel like it. - there's an Auto Off feature which kicks in after about an hour of inactivity. - I purchased this from the refurbished section of amazon (about $150), it was an easy installation in the original packaging - I use this in my apartment living room - this seems to be on the "introductory" side of Bose soundbars. With that being said, if my place were bigger or I wanted more connectivity/additions, I'd go for something fancier in their product line. All in all, I am satisfied with my purchase. I recently stopped seeing these in other stores, something tells me Bose has discontinued and created "an upgrade" of sorts.

Received 2 months later and the port for the fiberoptic audio cable was broken. Very poor quality for a Bose. I have had Bose and this sound bar is Very Poor Quality. I would return it but I live in the mountains in Hawaii. It’s a hour and a half to get to a facility to return.

The Bose Solo 5 is outstanding. The sound quality to my ears is as good as others that I have listened to that cost twice as much or more. If you want just a small footprint sound-bar without separate speakers, then this is an excellent choice. I had to call support with programming the remote and even with them guiding me after programming TV and blu-ray player it wouldn’t take the programming to shut off and turn on the TV and sound bar with the same main power button so they told me to take out the batteries and leave the remote a while and then put batteries back in and try again. That worked so no need to call them back. The big hint to programming is make sure you press exit to save programming once you know it works and sometimes you have to pull the batteries for a minute before programming the next device if it isn’t responding to the programming. It does NOT do RF so if you have FireTV, you will still need to use that remote separately. But once programmed the remote works fine, it’s not a high end remote but those usually cost more than this sound bar so it is a great deal to get this remote with the sound bar instead of a sound bar only remote that comes with most of them. That feature, besides Bose reputation is what sold me on this purchase, because I did not want ANOTHER remote necessary for running the sound bar. For us, the size was perfect because the legs on the Samsung TV restrict the space to place one in front of the TV and this one was the perfect size. I am thoroughly impressed with the sound quality from a small sound bar but Bose is known for great sounding speakers that are often much smaller than competitors. Also, there is a dialogue button on the remote intended for dialogue only shows but can be used anytime you have trouble understanding what is being said and it does help although I haven’t used it extensively yet. Also, not the first renewed product we have purchased and each one has undetectable that it was “renewed” other than some packaging.

Pro: fills my small room with clear sounds,at low volume as we use it most on TV. Speaking on programs is easier to understand than with just the big screen TV sound. Compact and attractive. It's my husband's baby, and his overall statement is; "it's pretty good". Easy to install. Con: world like to have control over military inputs. Top end volume is not very loud so my husband says he can't relive his youth by blasting his old albums. (This is a pro fro me.) Overall, were are happy with it for the purpose we use it for. My husband says overall he's very pleased.

To quantify this review, I have a 25” RCA flat panel tv mounted to my wall... Sound sucks, watching movies I had to turn the sound to max which meant it was squeeking and buzzing and rattling and you couldn’t hear anything. I was looking for something as small as the TV so it would not look retarded with the tiny TV. But the sound is not tiny, it is comical how big the sound is from this tiny sound bar, my house is little, which is why I use such a small TV, but when I turned it up my daughter came upstairs to see if we were having a party, she thought we were playing our big house stereo. It does not have the low end like a large system with a dedicated sub, but I was shocked at how full and rich the sound was (at medium volume, at full volume it still thins out) for the size of the sound bar. My kids described it as movie theater sound, it isn’t, but it is quite good.

It looks new and sounds great but came with a JBL power supply that does work but not Bose. The remote is Bose brand but not the Universal remote mentioned and shown in the pictures. I gave it 3 stars for those 2 reasons.
