Great safe heat and perfect for older homes.
I recently adopted two kittens and they are kept in our spacious guest room when we are at work, however this particular room in the house is above the garage and gets very cold. I was leaving the cetral hot air thermostat on 63* during the day and night to keep them warm but this was using massive amounts of oil up. I decided to find an acceptable solution for heating that one room independently and this product won my personal contest.I was looking for the following:1) saftey, electric space heaters are notorious for burning down homes, and buring little paws and hands when they are touched. This is quite possibly the safest electric heater on the market, and also the highest quality heater of this type (in wall) the lower wattage I have it running at (750) does not heat the grill up enough for any kind of burn to occur.2) low wattage and amperage.I did not want to tax the older 14 guage copper wiring, and this unit can operate at 250,500,750,1000,1250, and 1500 watts depending on what elements you connect inside of it, I found 750 to be perfect to maintain 65* in the room 12x14 with 8 foot ceilings and 5 casement windows.3) low noise. Don't want to disturb the kittens or guests sleeping. This unit operates quieter than the vents for my central forced hot air due to the squirrel cage style blower, much quieter than competing brands with conventional bladed fans. The install was quite simple, if you can install an old work electrical box and wire a light fixture or an outlet you can install this unit following the very short and sparse instructions. I used a LUX ELV4 programmable line voltage thermostat to control it, which works great by the way.The unit will not win any beauty contest, but it looks the same as any other product of its type on the market, and King does have decorative grills for sale if you wish to purchase.I am 100% satisfied with this heater and would highly reccomend it over the often recalled Cadet in wall heaters or very noisy broan units. It is well worth the premium price for the saftey of your home, pets, and family.

Great for taking the chill out of the room.
These heaters are great when you were finishing a basement and doing new construction. We placed these in the spare bedroom and our theater room in the basement. They easily will heat a room and are perfect for our application which is just to take the chill outta the air. If you have a guest staying in your guest bedroom you don’t want them cranking the heat for the whole house right? We bought the 220 V style which any of these will require a thermostat to control them. You can’t beat these for being quiet unobtrusive and the amount of heat they put out.By the way we had an issue with one of the heaters and the thermal cut off coming on too early. Customer service was great and simply shipped us a new one without requiring the replacement unit. Once the units are installed it is easy to change out the fan and heater unit with just a single screw.

Easy to retrofit
I installed the unit in a finished wall. I was able to attach the can to the side studs using screw while holding the can flush to the drywall. very easy to install. Very quite and provides amble, subtle heat to our bathroom where it was a bit cold, we have tile floors

Good product, no problems.
Slightly louder than I hoped, but not bad at all and does the job. Hooked it up to a Nest Thermostat E using and RC840T-120 relay and power combined. Works perfect. No issues with the welding as noted by a couple others, but the screws to hold the faceplate in we're a pain. They weren't pre-threaded, and one side was so tight the head broke off the screw when I resored to an impact driver to try and get it in. I had to go find some replacement screws, but sorted it out. Be sure to screw these in without the faceplate the first time to get them primed! Still over all happy and managed to work around the issue.

Decent Wall Heater - Installation Tips
Likes:Metal housing for the unit is heavier gauge than most at 20 ga vs 24 ga for competing heaters. The pic a watt is easy to use, you just disconnect the spade terminal for some of the 3 elements to lower the wattage.Blower/fan provides sufficient airflow for a smaller room. Might not be enough for a large 20 x 20 room.Unit seems pretty well made especially the heater elements.Looks a lot like a regular forced air heating vent.Dislikes:Grill - wish the grill had square edges not rounded. I know this is a minor item but it looks more like a wall heater than regular vent because of the rounded edges.Sound - This is very subjective. I'm getting a little humm and some occasional noise that seems to come and go. It's not terrible but I'm using this in a bedroom. I've opened it up and adjusted a couple of times and that seems to help if I get it just right. Otherwise, the sound is similar to the woosh of a better quality plug in portable heater. Louder than a regular heat vent from a forced air furnace. If noises bother you and this is in a very quiet environment like a bedroom you may find it too noisy. In other spaces or if you are not too focused on sound then you will likely find this very acceptable.Other: You will need to buy a thermostat to control this. I used a separate double pole line voltage Honeywell thermostat with this mounted about 10 feet away in the room and it works great. Thermostat has an off position that breaks one leg of the power to the unit. The unit enclosure comes with clear markings for how deep to mount it. Note that the box is about 4" deep. That means if you put this in a 3-1/2" deep 2 x 4 wall, the back of the unit will be against whatever is on the other side of the wall and the box will protrude the proper 1/2" that they require. I installed on an outside wall so the other side of the 2 x 4 was plywood with some siding nails coming through. Had to snip the nails off at the plywood otherwise the unit would not sit back far enough. I insulated the wall cavity on the top, bottom and sides with fiberglass, which the manufacturer says is OK for zero clearance. The unit mounts with a couple of screws on one side into the adjacent stud and I used the included detachable metal "ear" on the other side of the box which I pushed between the drywall and stud. Mounts very sturdy. You will need to buy a metal strain relief to secure the wire into one of the knock-out holes for the wiring. Many people have complained about the grille screws breaking off. Here's the secret - lubricate the screws before you try to screw them in. These screws, the first time you use them, are self tapping a hole into the metal of the box. I used a little cable pulling lube (you can use any kind of lube) I had with me and drove them in very carefully by hand and they went in just fine. This is only an issue the first time you put the screws in. Once they have cut the threads and opened the hole, future in and out of the screws is very easy. The fan/heater unit mounts in the housing with one screw at the top of the box. I guess the good of this is that heat is not transferred to the box through multiple contact points. Additionally, the single mounting at the top seems to allow the fan/heater elements to float a bit in the housing. The bottom of the fan has 2 soft contact pads that sit on the bottom of the housing. I had 120V unit and ran dedicated 12 ga wire and 20 amp breaker. Might be overkill but better safe than sorry.I gave it 4 stars for the sound issue (might be a five to those less sound caring). Otherwise this is a nice unit and safer than using a plug in portable plug in heater.

Quiet powerful heaters
I needed some kind of back up heat in my house just in case my NG boiler ( in floor radiant heat) ever decides to pack it in. We have had our boiler quit on us in the middle of winter at -30C out and I don't want my waterlines/house to freeze. My wife hates the look of electric baseboard heaters, so this was a very nice, low visibility heat alternative. It did take some work running electrical wiring to the location, but mounting the three units I bought on inside walls made fishing the wires in from the attic fairly easy. I used independant thermostats that I have set at 12C, so if ever the heat goes off(gas) these three units (6600watts) will easily manage to keep my house from freezing.

Good Heat!
If installing on an exterior wall understand you will be removing insulation and repairing the vapor barrier first! This was an oversite for us and became a bit of a challenge on a pre-finished wall. We replaced an electric baseboard heater with this unit and adjusted it to 1500W for a 10 x 12 room and it is more than enough heat! It is surprisingly quiet and hook up to existing wall thermostat was simple. It's still too warm to run this heater daily, but so far we are happy with it!

Great Product, Super Service
"My brother is a contractor and recommended that I install the King Electric PAW2422 2250-Watt 240-Volt Pic-A-Watt Wall Heaters. I installed 4 of them (and 4 thermostats) in the basement suite I am renovating. The Pic-A-Watt system is easy to figure out and they work great. Although wiring in a 240 volt system takes extra, the big deal for me is the low amp draw that is good for my house that only has 100 amp service. What really impressed me was the instant service I got from King Electric. One of the grills had bent louvers and the paint job wasn't good. I emailed them a note about the situation and the next day I got a reply. A new one was put in the mail via expedited post after I emailed the receipts and a picture. The new grill arrived three days after I had sent the initial email. Good fast service for a quality product made in North America. Bravo!"

Best replacement Option
This heater was not exactly the same size as original, but the closest I could find. Just 1/2" deeper so had to install a wood molding spacer. Also 2" narrower than original. Like the quiet high CFM fan. Work great!
