A valuable introduction
The books is a great explanation of Hippotherapy. Also, it lays out simply, clearly and thoroughly issues of horse-rider compatibility, insurance coverage, how to find the right therapist and more. It is also a calming read - it offers a sort of Zen effect as if all is right in the universe. Very nice. The drawings are on point and ad to the overall positive impression. I am a lifetime horse person as a trainer, competitor and participant in eventing, polo and foxhunting and I am a professional equine appraiser - I can attest to the book's veracity as far as its discussion of horses. The book describes well which behaviors might create equine stress which helps a reader decide if this is the right therapy in the first place. Well done. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Gave a good understanding of hippotherapy
Brown Pony Book I starts with the story of an autistic child and the changes in his life which he achieved through hippotherapy. It then relates the basics of hippotherapy. A good book for any parent or professional who wants to know more about thethings hippotherapy can do to help a child and a good book for anyone who wants to know more about this growing type of therapy.

Excellent Read
The chapter about insurance coverage is worth the price of the book for sure. The author truly unraveled the mysteries of therapy, horses and people for me. A book for educators, therapists and anyone who has a special needs person in their life.

Excellent introduction for people interested in hippotherapy
The best part of this book is the easy-to-understand description of the difference between hippotherapy and therapeutic riding (or adapted riding). For years, I have been unable to convey the difference to my mother, but she finally understands it now! As someone who is interested in building a hippotherapy practice some day soon, I foresee having a stack of these books to hand out to potential clients. The anecdotes are heartwarming, and the insurance information is very informative.
