5' Natural Cedar Porch Swing, Amish Crafted, Includes Chain & Springs

I ordered this one after researching several of these online. This one seemed good for the price. Everything came on time and as described and in good condition. There weren't any splits, cracks or warps. I got the plain version and stained and sealed it myself to match our other furniture. I felt it was pretty easy to put together except for getting the bolts lined up on both ends that go through the sides and into the seat and back support. But, after using screw drivers on the 3 other holes, it finally went through and we worked backwards from there.The only issue I have with it is, as I swing with my feet on the ground, the bottom board on the seat hits against my upper calf. Might just be me but if there was one less board on the seat as it curves a the bottom, it would allow my legs to bend under the seat. Again, may just be me but the swing itself is comfortable and sturdy. Still happy with my purchase.

Easy to assemble. Cedar is a relatively light weight wood so the swing can easily be assembled and moved by one person. Doing all the hanging MIGHT require the extra hand. Little more complicated to get stain in between the slats but nothing a small brush wouldn't cure. Quality of construction is great considering the price which is less $ than any other swing of the same size.Yes i would buy again and recommend to others. Suggested purchases to go along with this swing are a set of commercial swing hangers and 4 @ 4" x 1/2" bolts w 4 washers and either 8@ 1/2" bolts to use to lock things down or 4@ 1/2" lock nuts.We purchased this swing because about 3 years ago i put up a pergola that we have used as a grape arbor, Recently i saw a pic of a sim pergola with a swing. That is how i got the idea of putting a swing in ours. once the grapes start to green up then it will look more better than it does now..

Great swing, very comfortable and relatively easy to install. Had a bit of a task to line up a couple of the bolt holes and was worried about trying to pound them through because of the softness of the wood (cedar). But if you're patient and careful, they go together fine. I'm not overly crazy about the way the chain is designed to hook to the swing. It rubs up against the arm rest, and although it's stationary, I'm concerned it will dig into the wood over time.We bought the unfinished version of this swing and ended up covering it with a clear oil based poly urethane. Put two coats on before I assembled the 4 pieces. It was kind of a pain because it's hard to catch all the drips on the back side from the side you're coating. Overall it turned out great. If I ever buy another one, I'd spend a few more dollars and buy the already stained and treated version of this swing. Great product, and I know we will get alot of use out of it.

The swing arrived in good condition just a few dings in the wood that will sand out easily. I do have a center back support that is cracked and have requested a replacement support. The swing is nice but not impressive, cedar is so light weight it reminds me of balsa wood. Hopefully this swing lasts a few years. Again it's a "nice" swing for the money.

After researching a number of options, I decided on the Kilmer Creek 5 foot cedar swing… and I could not be happier! Not only is the swing a quality product but the customer service provided was OUTSTANDING! The response to my inquiry wash very timely and they immediately addressed a slight damage issue which occurred in the shipping process by providing a replacement headboard within a week. Arrived very well packaged, beautifully made and of course smells so wonderful. This swing is made with care and it’s shows- I get complements from neighbors passing by. I’m so happy with this purchase! Sent one to my dad to enjoy for years and he is over the moon! Wonderful gift

The main negative is that THE CHAIN BROKE when we first sat on it (my wife + son = 230lbs), which is a clear safety problem. A chain is not something to go cheap on. Weight capacity is listed as 550lbs, and there is a standard 5:1 safety ratio, so the fact that it broke with half the capacity weight is ridiculous.Other thoughts:Materials: Cedar is a great material, it looks fantastic and weathers well. Their board selection was mostly ok, with three being lower quality than I would have used (two very rough and one big knot). The chain is crap and needs to be replaced.Construction: Better than ok, the design is nice and comfortable but the screws on the pre-assembled parts are not in a straight line. I had to re-drill one hole that would not line up.Assembly: Mostly easy other than redrilling, it comes mostly assembled which makes it pretty quick to put together (1 hour for me).Tips: Stain/seal it prior to assembly, as there are a lot of small areas to get into. I used three coats of tung oil, which was probably one more than it needed, but I want it to last.Three pictures: Hung and sealed, freshly opened box, and assembled pre-tung oil.

I was concerned with a few of the comments I read from others before my purchase but they were mostly positive so I wasn't too worried. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The instructions were fine, sanding was minimal, assembly was easy and everything fit. I normally would build something like this myself but knew I wouldn't have the time this year so I went for it. I evaluated several possibilities before I ordered and figured this was the best choice for the price - I believe I made the right choice. We have it stained and hanging under our pergola. I'm a big man and it works great for me (I sit in it and play guitar). My friends stayed for a recent visit and they sat in it every time we were outside and they loved it, even took pictures and sent them to their friends. I received the order in just a few days - very fast delivery. I highly recommend this product.
