Nice coffee pods. A little extra money is worth it
Yes, this costs more than some of those little plastic doohickeys. So why get it? Tastes better than most. Not filtered with hot water through plastic. (I think you get more actual coffee in these. More is better.) Disposable with no cleanup. Not better than coffee in French press, but what is? Good medium flavor and very coffee aroma.

Better Than What I Wanted
I guess I fat-fingered my order. I wanted to order the 80 count version of SFBC's "Fog Chaser", but wound up with 80 of these instead. I really liked the Fog Chaser more than any other k-cup I'd tred, but Organic Rainforest Blend (ORB) is even better! At first I was just going to send it back because the label was green, so I thought this meant it was decaf. I never drink decaf because I'm afraid I might get rickets or just drift off into a coma. But I decided to run one through the Kerug, and stockpile them for my health-freak friends if I didn't like em. NOT DECAF! Nope. This is high voltage +p pharmaceutics grade coffee. The weird part is how great it tastes. I'm not a coffee nerd; just a guy who likes a rich cup of black coffee with a few extra amps in it. Amps it has. After a cup of ORB, I got into a conversation with my wife where I actually did most of the talking! But even if it didn't peg out the caffeine meter, I'd say it still has about the best flavor of any coffee I've ever tried. I think the roast is medium to dark. In the cup it has a LOT of oil. It actually gets that ring of light brown foam around the edge like good espresso. It's really sweet (for coffee), and I can't imagine putting any sweetener in it. Hearty, and yet refined; not exactly Old West, or Cafe de Paris, but I can imagine a cowboy and a mime fighting over the last cup. ... then again, maybe that's just the caffeine talking. NB: There is a lot of cool stuff on the box about the great stuff the company does; you know, if you have time for that sort of thing. 08/13/2016 UPDATE: Still great! The only problem I have is that the SFB pods breath, and if you leave them out for a day or two, the flavor tapers of considerably. I have one of those "pod-file" drawers under my Kerug and the SFB style pods dry out pretty quick. I like the drawer, but now I use it to line up my other pods. Dark Magic is the only other one I find tolerable, but it's probably just the D&D overtones of the name. I keep a battalion of them lined up next to a squadron of Lipton unsweetened blacks while the SFB Rainforest troops are held in reserve at an undisclosed and hermetically sealed location.

At last! Good coffee for the Keurig!
I love coffee. Good coffee. For many years, I have bought high-end beans, stored them carefully and ground them right before making a pot of coffee. My husband and I have a fine dining restaurant, and the coffee we serve there is simply wonderful, because I carefully sourced the coffee we buy to get the best possible flavor. So, when I was given a Keurig as a gift, I was not exactly thrilled. I am the only coffee drinker in our house, and I thought it would be wonderfully convenient, although I was concerned about the quality of the coffee available for it. I had no idea it would be as bad as it was. I know you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet a prince, but I sure didn't think I would buy and taste so much pitifully poor coffee in my search for something good. I tried so many of those environmentally-unfriendly little plastic cups, and even the five-star ones were ... meh. I even bought several contraptions that let you use your own coffee, but they were more trouble to use than making a whole pot of the stuff, defeating -- for me, at least -- the whole purpose of having a Keurig. I seriously considered just giving the thing away. Then I saw these lower-priced, more environmentally-friendly pods from San Francisco Bay. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. When my pods arrived, I opened the bag and was greeted by the wonderful aroma of GOOD COFFEE! My hopes soared. When I tasted my first cup, I was so happy that I went through my office giving pods to my coffee-loving friends (we use Keurig at my day job). It's still nowhere near the coffee in our restaurant, but I can at last have GOOD COFFEE at work! The fact that these are more environmentally friendly and cheaper than the bad K-cups I've bought in the past is just a bonus! I bought several varieties and am happy with all of them, though the Rainforest Blend is my favorite so far, rich but not bitter and with wonderful coffee flavor and aroma. It's a bit of a pain to keep them in a ziplock bag, but you get used to it, and the coffee is certainly worth it. FWIW, I also tried another environmentally-friendlier pod, Cameron's, and found it not nearly as good as the San Francisco Bay coffee. I'll stick with SFB from now on, and I'm keeping the Keurig.

STRONG!!! But so good! And "relatively" inexpensive...
I tried out this coffee because very few fair trade & organic subscribe and save options out there and it was almost half the price of Coffee People, Tree Hugger, K-Cup Portion Pack for Keurig K-Cup Brewers (Pack of 50) or Green Mountain Coffee, Colombian Fair Trade Select K-Cup Portion Pack for Keurig Brewers, 50 count when ordered through Subscribe & Save. That said, the truly price sensitive among us will point out that San Francisco Bay 100% Organic Coffee Rainforest Blend Whole Bean 3 Lbs allows you to make a whole pot of coffee for about the same price, or use a MyCup/eKobrew if you still are in love with the single cup thing. (I'm forbidden from using MyCups because I can't seem to use them without getting some coffee grounds all over the place and my wife considers coffee grounds on the floor to be grounds for divorce.) First, the actual cups themselves are fascinating. I think they are able to get the lower price because they are using a K-Cup compatible packaging without actually having to pay a licensing fee to Green Mountain (which has a patent expiring in late 2012). Green Mountain is apparently suing them for infringement, so that may end up having an effect. These alternate cups are smaller and I suspect a bit more environmentally friendly than K-Cups, but not by a huge amount. They have coffee filters holding the beans in, instead of plastic. The downside of this is that they can dry out, so they come in plastic bags holding a six or so each. The filters don't work quite as well as K-Cups, so I have ocassionally found some grounds in my coffee. It's not a huge deal to me, but might be for you. They also advertise that it works in various non-Keurig systems, but I was a Keurig early adopter so I haven't tried any of the others. Okay, for the coffee taste test, this stuff is STRONG. All the fair trade, organic, eco-friendly, hippiesh vibe (complete with a photo on the side of the box of the whole extended family smiling in front of rustic commune looking backdrop) does not prepare you for this. This is coffee that drinks you back. It's smooth without tasting burnt or overly bitter, but full-bodied doesn't really begin to describe it, unless that body was of a heavyweight boxer... and this coffee was a boxer, it would be Joe Frazier. If this coffee was a spaceship, it would be the Death Star. This isn't some coffee that gently wakes you up after being mixed with foamed milk and maybe a shot of flavored corn syrup, this is coffee that wakes you up by beating you over the head and shouting at you like the Drill Instructor from Full Metal Jacket. Okay, so maybe I'm a bit jacked up from my two HUGE mugs this morning, but this stuff has the caffeine to back up that taste, and with a newborn and a toddler, it's the only thing that gets me moving at this-clock-has-to-be-broken-it-can't-really-be-that-early AM. And keeps me moving, because it leaves me with a mild case of the shakes. Three will have me wired all day. So after singing the praises of this coffee, why would I rate it only four stars? As much as I'm a huge fan of this coffee, my wife won't even go near the stuff... for precisely the reasons I listed above. She'll stick to her sweet donut shop concoctions. So YMMV.

Tastes amazingly fresh
This may possibly be the best K-cup coffee I've ever had. The difference in quality is so noticeable compared to other brands I have bought and I love that it is organic and that I'm limiting my microplastic consumption. The Rainforest Blend is strong, but not bitter and so very smooth. I love that the pods are packed in separate bags so that they stay fresh. I opened one of the bags to put some of them in my holder and was blasted in the face by the amazing smell. I actually went to bed smelling coffee all through my house.

Impressed doesn't cover it!
I saw this on Amazon and decided to give it a shot. I've been looking for a delicious dark roast organic coffee that wasn't bitter. My first shipment was scheduled to arrive on June 6, but to my surprise, arrived June 4. I opened up the box, and was pleased first off to see that the pods were packed into bags of 8, in order to keep them fresh longer. This was a plus, because no one wants stale coffee that has lost it's 'umph', and I had wondered how I was going to manage to keep all of the pods fresh until I used them up. The exposed filter had concerned me, but with the amount of coffee I drink, they won't have time to go stale opening one of the small bags at a time. My curiosity about the coffee couldn't stand any more, so I cut open one of the bags. The smell was amazing! Before I had even brewed my first cup, I knew this was going to be good. There was no 'burnt' smell to the coffee, just pleasant, rich aroma. Although I had already had my normal 4 cups for the day, I just had to have a cup immediately to see if it tasted as good as it smelled. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was quite impressed. The coffee is rich and bold without the bitterness of many dark roasts. It's very smooth and just begs you to drink more. I'm not an expert, so I won't try to rate the acidity, flavor notes, or anything like that, but I am a life long coffee lover and 4 cup a day drinker, so for me to say that this coffee is impressive means that at least I have some experience with different tasting coffees and it has passed my personal tests. If you prefer a 'weaker' cup of coffee, you can even brew twice from the same pod into a larger travel mug. It's good either way, I just personally prefer strong coffee. I highly recommend this coffee for it's flavor, it's value, and on top of those, the fact that it's organic and produces less waste than typical K-cups. If you are looking for a smooth, dark roast coffee, by all means give the San Francisco Bay Rainforest Blend a try. You'll be glad you did.

Lackluster taste when brewing more then 6 oz... feels like de-caf
I have been searching for a new coffee, mostly because I am on the fence about continuing my relationship with K-Cups due to the amount of waste they generate. When I found the San Francisco Bay One Cup, Rainforest Blend on Amazon, I was very excited for the possibility of getting an organic coffee, with minimal waste in the packaging for sub 40 cents a cup. After reading some RAVE reviews for the quality of the coffee, I was sold! Upon receiving my San Francisco Bay One Cup, Rainforest Blend shipment from amazon, my excitement continued. I opened the box and was met with a very aromatic waft of good smelling coffee when opening the box. Each 10 cups are packaged in a biodegradable bag, and included with the shipment is an air tight container that holds ten cups at a time to keep the K Cups fresh when removed from the packaging. The next day I brewed my first cup, into a travel mug for my ride to work. I brewed 12 ounces, as I always have with every other K cup I have ever made. Unlike every other K Cup I have ever brewed 12 ounces with, the San Francisco Bay One Cup, Rainforest Blend tasted like hot water, almost no flavor at all. Excitement fading. Thinking it was a fluke, my next cup, 12 ounces, same result. Now getting frustrated I have given in to the fact that if I want 12 ounces, it will have to be from two K Cups. Next day I try 2 K Cups, 1 8 oz and 1 6 oz.... getting better but still not there. Ultimately these San Francisco Bay One Cup, Rainforest Blend K Cups need to be brewed on 6 oz-- completely losing any cost savings over many other options on Amazon--My 120 expected cups of coffee from this purchase just became 60. So in short, good quality, aromatic coffee, earth conscious packaging and organic but be forewarned when brewing anything over 6 oz..... *****Update***** I just wanted to update the review because I really don't understand the rave reviews of this product. These K cups have one thing going for them over all the other K Cup options, less waste. But hold on a minute, I now have to brew two of these compared to one of all the other brands I have bought, so is there really less waste? After drinking these for a few weeks now, I can tell you it was not a fluke and these K Cups really pack no punch and no flavor whatsoever. For a test I had one of my old K Cups to make sure it wasn't be, brewed it on a 12 ounce setting and had 4x the flavor and pick me up then one Rainforest brewed on 6 oz setting. What a disappointing purchase this has been. Removing a star from original rating.
