The Techwood Hot Plate Portable Electric Stove is a fantastic little appliance that delivers excellent value for the price. I’ve purchased several of these over the years, and overall, they’ve been a reliable and convenient addition to my kitchen at home and events. First off, the performance is impressive. Comparable to commercial electric stove. With 1500 watts of power, this hot plate heats up quickly and provides consistent cooking temperatures. The adjustable temperature control works well, allowing me to fine-tune the heat for everything from simmering sauces to boiling water. The compact and portable design is another big plus. It’s lightweight and doesn’t take up much space, making it perfect for small kitchens or even cooking for events in tights spaces. The stay-cool handles are a thoughtful addition, making it safe and easy to move the hot plate around, even when it’s been in use for a while. However, I’m giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 because of its durability. While most of the units I’ve purchased have worked well, one or two had a shorter lifespan than expected. They stopped functioning properly after about a year of regular use, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the majority of them have held up just fine, and for the price, I still think it’s a great deal. Overall, the Techwood Hot Plate is a solid choice for anyone looking for an affordable, portable, and efficient cooking solution. It’s not perfect in terms of longevity, but it definitely gives you the best bang for your buck.

Amazing little gem of a portable cook plate! Heats up QUICKLY! No burned hands moving this little stove around. GREAT value for a product that works EVERY TIME! Bought one for small extra cooking area and will purchase another to have on hand for dinner parties, quick little cooking projects, etc.

Reliable

Apparently all of these burners cycle to keep the electronics from overheating, which is not favorable for high heat wok cooking. I've had many of the "coil" type burners and they all suck because by the time they get hot enough to sear the food they shut down to go through a cooling cycle and the coil cools to the point where it can't even maintain a steady boil until it powers up again. This one, having a cast iron cookplate, at least maintains a high heat level through the cooling down cycle such that the plate stays hot and allows much better results when using a wok for Asian cuisine. It's the better of two evils, the best of all would be a gas powered burner where I could control the heat level and leave it full on indefinitely.

Purchase with caution. I bought this in 2023. And lightly used it maybe for a total of a year in that time. Yesterday I started smelling smoke. But I thought maybe it was something from the burner or something even though it smelled electrical and not food. Today I started noticing the smell again and smoke coming from the controller. Scary. In the trash. Oh and the plate rusts.

For the folks complaining about smell, IT STATES RIGHT IN THE MANUAL TO LET IT RUN BEFORE USE to work that smell off. If you actually read and follow directions, nothing is wrong with this good product.

The portable table-top stove meets and / or exceeds our expectations. It's aesthetically pleasing and seems to be features-rich. We're looking forward to cooking some delectable meals until our kitchen renovations are completed.
