Great Bulb - 3 ways are not supposed to dim - they have 3 stages specifically
I noticed another reviewer docking this bulb because it does not dim, unfortunately it is the users issue not the bulb, so it is unfair to give the bulb a bad review.3 way bulbs do not dim, they are designed for 3 way sockets specifically. If you want a dimming bulb then buy just that. Do not hold the bulb responsible for user error.I am a lighting designer and use these bulbs often, I am partial to "normal" cast of light, 3k or 27k depending on the room, light needed even paint color can influence the cast of light. This bulb in the 3k version is a nice bright bulb with decent light levels on the lower spectrum. I actually believe the 150 is slightly higher than an incandescent bulb of equivalent wattage. Personally I would steer clear of the 5k, but I know some light the blue light spectrum. If the bulb is bright enough you really do not need to go blue. This bulb is nice and bright. The quality is nice but not perfect, I have had bulbs go bad in less than a year but you are on Amazon, so not the highest quality to ask for, but I use quite a lot of LED's and the ratio is quite good by comparison.People are being told the wrong thing with LED, that the light bulb will last them decades. Not true, to get the maximum life expectancy LED diodes (within the plastic casing) would need to be uncovered, the bulb in an upright position, not lit more than 3 hours per day and have optimum environment temperatures. That all being said, it of course is wonderful to use LED in any circumstances since the energy cost far outweighs the initial cost of the bulb, on average you pay for the cost of the bulb in energy savings within 3 months of use. Kitchens and exterior use usually have shorty lifespans due to daily hours of use, so buy a few extra to match your batch and enjoy saving money in the long run. Use them everywhere but do have a realistic expectation of the lifespan of the bulb.

3 way light bulb
These are not as bright as the old 250-watt light bulbs, but they are OK.

They’re good, but miss incandescent
IF YOU WANT A BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT, these are for you. No delay, Instant on and gives you 3 levels of white. No hum, no surging, no flickering.I do Miss the old softer light emitting incandescent 3 way. Sometimes these are just too WHITE for use in a living room while watching TV or in a study or library. But it looks like the Government is going to ban the retail sale of the incandescent and CFI bulbs in favor of these by next year… so you’ll be stuck with something like these. Naturally… like everything else… made in China

Finding three way light bulbs
Almost all of my table lamps are three way and it had become difficult to find the bulb’s especially with the 50 watt low setting. The 50 watt setting can be use while watching tv or almost a night light. 100 and 150 watts for reading or crafts. The LED doesn’t generate heat unlike the older incandescent bulbs.

Says 3 Way Bulb but Does Not Work As 3 Way Bulb
Despite the bulb bases and packaging saying they're 3 way bulbs, these bulbs do not give 3 brightness levels in any of our 3 way lamps, they just stay at the lower light level. Meaning they're also not bright enough for their intended purpose.

Installed on a 3-way motion sensor and still only get one level of brightness.
I purchased these to replace the incandescent 3-way light bulbs on my garage; hoping to save some money on the electricity. Currently, the motion sensor I am using triggers my incandescent lights to rest at the dimmest level for a long period of time (before turning completely off) and then go bright when motion is detected... I've always loved this feature. But no such luck with these. The sensor, apparently, can only trigger these off and on, which is a major disappointment.... I'm not sure that's a fault of the switch or these light bulbs. I'm wondering now if a dimmable LED would work (rather than a 3-way). If anyone knows the answer, I would appreciate some feedback....That having been said, the positive is that they have decent brightness (on the bluish-white spectrum of things) and they light up the immediate area underneath very nicely. They are not quite as bright as my previous incandescents (which were 250 watts on the maximum brightness), but I was unable to find a 3-way LED that was higher than 150w. I am still pleased with the quality of light. These provide plenty of light to see while working in the evening in front of my garage, or to light up the drive area when the cars pull up, so I am not totally disappointed... Just wish these would dim after the bright level exceeds its time-out.These would be great for indoor 3-way lamps... just keep in mind that they are cool white and NOT warm white. Great value though and I am marginally satisfied with my purchase.
