Mr. Kitty's favorite
I have recently adopted my son's cat and have spent the last few months educating myself about cats. After learning that most cat foods are too high in carbs I decided to change his food supply. Transitioning him was easy, lucky me!! Over time I've bought various brands of grain free cat food, both dry and wet. Most he ate, but some he just picked at. Then I came across the wellness brand and bought all their varieties. He loves them, some flavors more than others, but he'll eat them. I recently bought wellness core and bingo!...we have a winner here. He absolutely loves this food and wipes his plate clean every time; something he has never done with any other brand. He especially loves the chicken, turkey and chicken liver. The minute I put this down in front of him he doesn't come up for air until it's all gone. It makes me happy to see him enjoy his food so thoroughly. His coat has developed a nice sheen to it and he has lost his excess weight. I'm glad that he prefers this food but even if he didn't, it doesn't say anything negative about this brand. Cats have preferences just like us. This is one of the best canned, grain free foods out there. I highly recommend it.

This food helped save my cat's life
Last May I found out that my cat was diabetic. After recommendations from 3 different vets on a diet of diabetic management food that they sell, I set out on my own to find a good healthy food for my cat to eat. After lots of research I knew I had to find something grain free, with low carbs and high in protein. We tried various options, but my cat seemed to like this the best. He was on Insulin twice per day. We started this food in July and after about a month, he has been Insulin free, so no Insulin for 5 months now. We still check his blood sugar once per week to be sure, but he has been at a normal level. I truly think it was a combination of the Insulin and this food that saved him. He is healthy, energetic and his coat is so soft and shiny. This is a great food for any cat. If your cat has a hard time adjusting, it does take time to switch their food. Don't give up on it, it is well worth it to have a healthy cat!

Expensive, but has a great ingredient list.
I've had my 2 1/2 year old boy tabby on this food (and its other various flavors) since he turned 1 year old. Before that, I fed him Iams kitten. He had a urine test at about that time and it was there I learned he was prone to developing urine crystals in his kidneys. I immediately decided to find a food that was formulated for urinary tract health, and stumbled across this brand. I've read in past reviews that the Wellness original formulas were actually pretty unsafe for urinary tract, but that the Wellness CORE formulas were perfect for maintaining this aspect. Since he's been on this food, his urine looks great! His coat is super shiny (not oily) and he's active and a real predator. I mix this wet formula with the dry to keep it a cost-effective option for me, and will rotate flavors based on cost and to keep it interesting. My boy is about 10lbs and I feed him a can a day with 2 tablespoons of dry kibble mixed in. I also add L-lysine powder to keep his immune system up. While my boy's health (and my kitten's health on the kitten formula) has been great on this food, I have decided to switch to another brand that does not have carrageenan in it. The main reason, though, is that he's lost his taste for the pate-style food. I've tried additives such as baby food, other cans of different food mixed in, going heavy-handed on the kibble, etc. It's been over a month and I can't get him to wolf down the food like he used to. He can be a finicky eater sometimes, but I figured I'd try the switch for now. I'm switching to Redbarn that has more of a stew-like consistency, is cheaper, and doesn't contain carrageenan. It also has an ingredient list that could rival Wellness CORE's. All in all, I really do think this is a fantastic food if you can get your cat to eat a pate-style. (If I fed him the dry kibble of this brand, he'd wolf it down!) I think the ingredients are great quality for the most part, and it's easily a MUCH safer food option than any grocery brand food out there. I'm minusing a star almost exclusively because the flavor wore off on him and the addition of that carrageenan. If you can afford the cost, I think this food will do your kitty welll. Like I said, my cat's health has been outstanding on this food.

Helps Save My Cats Life - Preserves My Back From Physical Therapy
Three Octobers ago (10/2010) my 14-year-old best friend was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous tumor on the nape of his neck. The likely cause was a vaccine shot he got many years before in 1997. I remember the exact location: Slightly to the left, right above his shoulder where the technician injected the vaccine *into* his skin rather than under it, causing a severe and bloody abscess a few weeks later and left a permanent bald spot. In October 2010 we took an aggressive stance against the localized tumor and had it removed along with most of the ribs on his left side. During that surgery, he was diagnosed with intestinal cancer. For the weeks leading up to his first surgery he lost most of his weight, dropping from 17lbs to 10 lbs and was severly dehydrated. His diet at the time consisted primarily of IAMS Indoor Cat formula. By some miracle, he survived the surgery during which required three transfusions during his recovery. Ever since, he has been force-fed 12-16oz of Wellness Turkey formula in an attempt to bring him back to and maintain what I consider should be his normal weight of 14 lbs. He maintained 14 lbs for the 1st year, but he is now down to 10 lbs at 600 calories/day. I'd force feed him twice a day on week days, and let him eat on his own on weekends - trying out every single brand and line of cat food I could find (except for the raw recipes due to his compromised immune system). None of which he would consistently eat enough of on his own. I would not allow him to die from starvation. He would eat a little of the Wellness Sardine Shrimp and Crab recipe on his own - about 3 oz per day which is only about 80 calories and not nearly enough to sustain him. For three years, his appetite never increased beyond 3 oz / day for any brand of food. Until two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I once again bought a handfull of all Wellness Core Canned recipes. He consumed every one of these at varying speeds - the slowest on the Salmon and on the Duck recipes, and the fastest on the Chicken Liver and the Kitten formulas which he consumed 2 and 1/2 5 oz cans on his own. So I bought more of these and since then, he has been eating a little over two cans each day of the Core Chicken-Turkey-Chicken-Liver! I am so thrilled and relieved for many reasons. Primarily for my little friend's life which he can now sustain by himself. And secondly for my back. This past year has been very difficult to force-feed after injuring my back and spending six months with physical therapists. Recovery was slower than normal because of the force-feeding - the only way to safely force-feed a cat who is missing many ribs is on the floor, in between my knees, wrapped in a towel like a burrito. A very bad position for the back in the first place. My little friend no longer vomits or has diahrea so dehydration is now less of a concern. Although 500 cal/day may seem high for a cat his age and current weight - he has lost over 40% of his healthy weight in a very short amount of time from his intestinal cancer which prevents his body from absorbing enough nutrients. His fluid intake is high and his cat box is frequently wet. My efforts these past three years has given him his lease on life so far and counting. The local oncologist and two advising vets expected him to expire within 6 months of the surgery either from the disease or from the chemotherapy which he is no longer on. It is now 3 1/2 years later and my little guy is happy and safe. This product will be the only one my best friend will have for the remainder of his life.

Amazing Cat Food!
I can't say enough about this cat food! My fifteen year old cat is diabetic and has been on insulin since July. While he is not completely off it YET, I have reduced his insulin by two thirds and hope that he'll be able to be completely off. The benefits don't stop there. I have two other cats - one that used to throw up every day - and one that has no current health issues of any kind. My kitty that used to get sick, for some reason, every day, has only had two episodes of throwing up since I changed her to the core cat food two months ago. My other cat looks fabulous, sleek, glossy coat(the coat on my two kitties with health issues has improved as well!) and lean and not overweight. The benefits don't stop there, though!! An amazing difference in my litter boxes!! Less waste to clean up and very low oder! My vomiting kitty used to have very foul smelling bowel movements, too. Now there is little to no odor at all. Urine seems to have less ammonia smell as well. A GREAT PRODUCT! - Low carb as well!

Wellness is an excellent brand
5 stars for an excellent pet food manufacturer and their customer service. All my cats were fed many of the Wellness formulations. Cats can be finicky. They used to like pate, must have talked it over and decided no more pate. They no longer like shreds even though I cut them smaller. They seem to only like something with gravy, I don't have a problem with that as any hi-end food brand gravy will be acceptable to me. Actually there is one pate they will eat the Wellness beef and chicken, forgot about that. Now I'm buying that plus minced chicken with gravy, minced turkey with gravy. As expected, most of the time they take in the gravy and leave some of the food.

INGREDIENT CHANGES? BREAKDOWN OF PROTEIN%/FAT% ?
Flavor: Wellness Core Turkey & Duck Pรขtรฉ UPDATE: DEC-02-2024 No word at all from a company. I even called them to ask about this issue and they don't seem to think it's a problem. But they sure are excited about the new color scheme of their labels! Changing my review to one star because the company has jacked up their prices and has failing to interact with customers or address the issue properly. Their food, particularly this variety/flavor, is very good quality if you can tolerate their current business practices. ------ original review ------- ATTN: WELLNESS BRAND!!! You need to PROACTIVELY inform your customers when you adjust/change ingredients. (i.e. adding chicken to certain flavors when chicken was NOT a previous ingredient.) As you know, some cats have allergies to certain ingredients and you should clearly disclose when change formulations, even if it's to comply with with random 3rd party "nutrition certification". You guys really blew it on this one. You had several options and chose a complete lack of transparency with your customers. You make a big deal about new lables, but no mention of changed ingredients - this seems to indicate an issue re what you consider a "priority". ALSO, please include a photo/image of the ingredients, AS WELL as graphic BREAKDOWN of the protein/fat/fiber/moisture content, like you used to do, currently do with other varieties of your canned cat foods! (I understand that the ingredients are listed at the VERY BOTTOM of the product description, but most people don't view all the way down the lengthy description - put the ingredients and breakdown in a photo/image or NEAR THE TOP, please! You're charging too much for your product to miss important issues like these - if you wat to be a top-tier pet food company, you need to act like one!)

Great
Cat loves this food and it is very good for him. I feed part dry food and split each of these cans into three days worth. I take a third each day put it in a magic bullet ( blender) add 3/4 cup water (sometimes tuna fish or chicken juice if i have just drained them for my consumption) it adds more liquid to a cats diet. With any research cats normally are dehydrated because their natural foods they eat would provide liquids but we feed processed or dry food which they don't get enough water intake. Also having a purely wet food diet which will help with the dehydration is bad for their teeth, you would need to brush their teeth multiple times a day to keep their teeth healthy on a purely wet food diet. So this is how i sneak in more liquid to my cats diet and still have him eat dry food that helps clean his teeth as he crunches through it. If you are curious i feed wellness core original dry food but if you are trying to save a little money the kirkland(costco) cat food is almost as good for your cat as this plus it is cheeper.

Expensive
Ordered this a few days ago, assuming by the price that it was for a case of 12 cans. When the package arrived, it was ONE CAN ONLY! Called Amazon inmediately and returned the item. Even the Amazon rep was shocked that it was only one can.

My cat loves it.
I only know that my cat loves it and that speaks volumes. If cats love it, then it must be good.

Watch out it's 1 can even if the dimensions are ...
Watch out it's 1 can even if the dimensions are falsely stated as shipping weight of 4.2kg. Someone even asked how many cans and it states 24. It is actually 1 can - STAY AWAY

Purebred Ragdoll Approved!
I keep coming back to buy this! I've tried A LOT of different kinds of wet food for my 6 month old Ragdoll kitten, and he's extremely picky. He loves this brand. Amazing cat food for the price, he doesn't seem to get sick of it. I believe this product is a "high protein" wet food, so I found that only feeding him half a can a day instead of an entire can is enough (he also has dry food to graze with), I found if I DID feed him an entire can in a day his poop was a little runny.
