It bills itself for young readers ages 7-12, which sounds about right for gifting this Bible, but I’ve found it really shines with 4th - 6th graders, and after that age kids often aren’t eager to give it up for a “grown-up” text-only Bible. A good Bible for older kids
This is the full text of the Bible with lots of colorful realistic illustrations mixed in. It also has some nice helps geared toward good readers and more mature kids. An excellent complete Bible for children
I got this Bible as a present for my 9 year old son and I am really happy with the choice. The pages are firm enough, the writing is neither too big, nor too small. The langauage is just right for young kids too. We also use Bible highligher to mark the passages and there is no bleeding through the pages or scripts. If you are looking for a good complete Bible for your young ones, I highly recommend this Bible version. Happy with this purchase.

More youth than child friendly
Disappointed. Ordinary NRSV with a very small numbers of pictures. Not particularly child friendly. Suitable for young people

Great educational/big kid Bible
We bought this Bible for our son and are now buying another for our daughter. Pros: - maps - good summary of the books of the Bible (letters by whom, to whom, which books are law, history, etc.) - time chart - titles of the story above passages (The Boy Jesus in the Temple before Luke 2:41-52) - Four Gospels one life (shows where each story is in each book) - pictures are not too cartoonish but nice for older children Cons: - no index of story titles Overall a very nice Bible that has held up to years of use nicely.
