Great Space Heater
I moved into a one bedroom, 1,000 sq ft apartment with 8 foot ceilings on the second floor of a 1900 built house that has steam heating and no insulation this year. Unfortunately, the apartment gets really cold in the winter. The radiators do not get warm even when the heat is on in the house. I believe this is due to the pipes and walls be uninsulated and the windows being leaky due to them being original. It got so bad that my wife started to feel sick after the first few cold days this winter season. I decided to find a space heater to help remove the chill in the apartment. We did not want oil due to the smell. We also wanted a heater that had a fan to circulate the heat. After some researching, I settled on this. It was ceramic tile so no smell. It had an oscillating fan that will spread the heat.We received the heater in a couple of days and assembly was simple and straightforward. All you have to do is screw the base into the heater. We plugged the heater into the wall as the directions says do not plug it into a surge protector. As we turned it on, the heat was almost instant. We were shocked how quickly the heat was blowing out of this machine. My wife literally crouched in front of the machine so she could soak the heat into her bones. My expectations were that the heater would heat the room it was in and we would move it into the bedroom at night sort of similar to the 10,000 BTU A/C unite we bought this summer. How pleasantly surprised we were when the heater was left in 360 mode heated the whole apartment. We put it in the central part of the apartment and just leave it on. It gets so hot that we actually turn the unit off. This heater is really well designed. The air gets sucked up from the bottom of the unit. The air flows through a filter to remove some particles in the air. The filter is cleanable. It flows over the ceramic tiles in the middle of the unit and gets blown out on top of a 360 degree oscillating fan. What this means is that the heater stays cool to the touch. I have the heater on in the morning before company comes over and as they arrive, I unplug the machine and put it in the closet. The vents where the air gets blown out is warm but nothing that would burn your skin or start a fire. I was disappointed that when the machine did get knocked over one night, it does not turn off automatically. Granted, we would have liked this feature, but we never leave it on when we are not home. Too many stories about fires starting from space heaters to risk it even though I think this thing is pretty safe. The machine is quiet, not silent. I would say it is quieter than a regular oscillating fan on low. We have no issues sleeping with it on. Now if only we could find an A/C that cools as well as this machine heats. It does have a controller, but we never use it. It is a simple controller that is made out of cheap plastic. We just adjust the heat on the machine. We have been so happy with this heater that we have recommended it to family and friends who need a little extra heat in the winter.

Good but noisy
Was looking for a tower heater where all the heat is released at the top, and this one does that. Had a much older version of this that lasted long time and was fine. This seems to put out more heat and much stronger fan, but the price for that stronger fan is it is much noisier, not a great trade off. Apart from the noise and the moderately confusing controls, which isnt really a big deal, this is an excellent heater.

A GOOD FLOOR HEATER - not great...but GOOD
Bought this to provide heat to a average size room where we watc TV. Item came well packaged and undamaged. Set-up was minimal as there was only the base which required 8 screws to hold in place. Plugged it in and it was ready to go. Total time to set up about 5 min. Added batteries to remote and pressed the ON button. Nothing happened. Pressed it 3 more times and THEN the unit turned on. I suspect the main unit was "adjusting" to the remote (?). Instructions were simple but gave some conflicting directions. You would be better off just pressing the buttons to find out what the remote will make the main unit do. Within seconds of turning on the unit was blowing warm air out the top of the unit. The unit itself looks like a upside down spiral cone and does not move. The heat dispersal is done by a fan shaped object in the top of the main unit. You adjust how you want the heat dissipated: 1/4, 1/2 or 360 degrees rotation. Now, the following are NOT CONS but things that I believe would be nice to have on the heater. (1) A longer cord. A six foot cord is nice but limits where you can put the unit for heat dispersal. (2) Handles. You cannot move the unit unless you use both hand to wrap around the unit (the main unit is round). This is very awkward and makes the unit difficult to move around even though the unit is relatively light. (3) Heat dissipation. Blower is minimal and it would be nice to have a more powerful fan in order to dissipate the warm air further and a bit faster. As it stands now, the heated air is forced from the unit at the top and dissipates about 36 inches, on a declining heat scale, from the unit head. This means that as the heated air is forced from the unit it rapidly becomes cooler the farther it goes from the unit. (4) Rotating top. There is a plate like insert at the top of the unit that rotates to, I guess, tell you that the unit is moving heated air. The problem is that one side of the this plate gets very hot. Not hot enough to burn you but hot enough to let you know it can hurt you. This in itself is somewhat dangerous. Consider if a young child were to put their hand on this rotating plate....just because it is moving. I won't go further into details on this one. Now, 3 of these 4 points cause me to give it a 3 star rating. OVERALL, it provides solid movement of heated air and as with the other, but different design Lasko heaters I have, is a good floor heater. Price does seem bit high. NOTED: One seller of this same unit was selling theirs for nearly 4 times what I paid. Go figure on that one. Overall the unit does what is expected: it provides heated air to a limited area where it is placed and does it quietly and efficiently. Do I recommend? YES...with some cautions to consider.
