does this camera work with windows8?

Yes, I have Windows 8.1 Update. The memory card can be removed from the camera and then inserted into my laptop's card reader. It can also be connected using a mini USB cable and Windows detected the camera.

Are pictures easy to upload to a computer?

The camera gives you two ways to upload pictures. You can either take out the SD card or you can plug the wire in while the camera is on (if you are given one with purchase--I was not). A directory will pop up for the second option and you just click on how you want to access the content. It only take 2-3 clicks. The faster way is to just take out the card, but if you want to be safe about breaking the card, then plug it in to your computer. Both options are fast either way, like most cameras.

The camera comes with a lithium ion battery and a wall charger. The battery fits directly into the compact charger and the whole unit plugs into a wall socket. The battery seems to last well and charging generally does not take much time. There are lights in the charger to let you know when the battery is ready and the unit will stop charging when the battery is full so as not to burn it out.

What is recovery time between shots?

I don't know what that means, recovery time, my best guess what you want to know is how long do you have to wait until you can take another picture and not sure on the exact amount of time, but it's longer than I like (I have a 3 year old) but not as long as my old camera. I'm sure there is a way to set it on fast or multiple picture taking, just haven't figured that out yet. My best guess is at least 30 seconds. Hope that answers your question.
