No more woodpeckers!!
I hung these up in a 2 eye configuration, not in the 4 disc configuration. To me, they looked meaner. And after I hung a few up, I realized I wasn't really hearing the bells so much, but the weight was preventing them from blowing around in the wind. So I took the bells off. This was easy because everything is joined together with what's basically a mini keyring. A week earlier, a woodpecker was drilling holes into our house all over the place. I kept after it by sealing it shut with construction adhesive only as a short term until these arrived. So I hung one on each corner of my house, plus each corner of my detached garage. 8 pairs total, with plenty left over to spare. ZERO bird problems thereafter, although they've only been up a little over a week. It might also be coincidence or mating season or something else, but the wasps around the house seem to be freaking out over these. They divebomb them constantly, which....makes it easier for me to go outside and spray them with brake cleaner. (I'm sure that's against the law somewhere in Kalifornia) Anyway, I'm thrilled with these, and will see how they hold up through harsh midwest winters and strong winds. If needed, I would definitely buy again!

Birds not scared anymore. After a couple of days the birds lost their fear. I'm so bummed.
I got these to keep the wild birds out of the scratch I put down for my chickens and out of the chicken coop when I open it up so they can free range. I worry about the diseases wild birds can carry and I dont want them passing anything onto my chickens. I put some up in front of coop door and it is keeping them out of chicken coop so far! They usually file right in there when I open the door. I also put some up above the area I spread the scratch and that seems to be working too. There has been one or two brave birds but nothing like the normal deluge. I may have to put up some more or add some streamers if they get used to them. I thought my chickens might be afraid of them, but not in the open area much at all. They were a little hesitant to go in coop at first but decided eventually go past them and enter in. I had one chicken that needed a little coaxing. So far so good, I am pleasantly surprised. If it changes I will update later.

Not very sturdy, but did work when intact
These discs did keep the birds away from my blackberries, was totally surprised. Did not have half eaten berries all over my hands, so yes, they worked good BUT, we had a lot of rain and storms and wind. They came apart constantly. The wind would tear the discs and bells right off the tiny rings. I am still looking for 2 sets of bells, lol. I took a hole puncher and punched another hole near the torn one. Actually just came in from that horrible heat trying to put them back together. They are not very sturdy in storms or winds but when they were intact, they did work.

JUNK!!! Paper junk
Paper Junk! Literally will last 3 hours outside at best. The good ones are made of metal NOT more cheap paper I have plenty of experience dealing with a annual returning woodpecker problems. Acute lead poisoning works the best by far but I live in a neighborhood and cannot run around like Rambo eliminating these pest. What works second best is METAL reflective disc in the trouble areas. Metal not only last years (mine have been up 5 years now and need replacing) but they make a slight wind whistle noise that is needed to deter the evil woodpecker. Trust me I have plenty of experience in this arena. All this product did was be a waste of my time to not only warn others in this review but to return the product and the need to find METAL replacements.

I am buying more! I recommend weighting them.
Last year we had an aggressive robin that completely trashed my vehicle every day. I had to wash it to get in to go anywhere. And a soon as I was home, he started again. I tried mylar tape last year, but it was still not enough. I saw these and thought it would be worth a try. The nesting place is under my elevated deck. I hung three. NO ROBINS. I hung three in the tree next to where I park my vehicle. NO ROBINS. I am buying more. They do get caught in the small tree branches (the wind the last two weeks has been really bad). So I bought these inexpensive weights and they work perfectly. I attach three to the bottom with string. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BFJ5PVV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Didn’t scare seagulls or other birds around the bay at all.
This is a cruelty-free device that is advertised to scare away birds.. Apparently birds don’t like eyeballs and these disks are designed to make them uncomfortable and fly away. I had zero success with this product. There are a variety of sea birds around and they soil our dock. We hung four strands of disks and the birds were not impressed. We had much better luck with cardboard owls also sold on Amazon. The product is well made and may work in other area with other birds.

Woodpeckers & Barn Swallows
I first tried these to deter barn swallows on our pontoon boat—we found a nest with babies in a recessed area above our motor. What a MESS! After babies flew off, I removed the nest and power-washed the area. I hung these “scary-red eye” bird devices up (clipped to Bimini roof edge), and the swallows immediately left our area! It’s been 3 weeks, and so far so good. THEN, we had several woodpeckers pecking away on the corner of our wood porch. I hung the “scary-red eye” bird devices and they immediately worked, again. It’s been 1 week and still no woodpeckers! My only complaint is the flimsiness of the product, but I have resolved that by threading shiny gold floral wire through all the disc holes, from top to bottom to reinforce—works great! I plan to buy 2 sets of these devices EVERY year, to keep our boat and porch bird-free! THEY WORK.
