Tenacious D Pick Of Destiny

Kickapoo
If you want a light, slightly crude movie for laughs, then I recommend this one. The quality is kind of mediocre, but the songs are phenomenal. My husband and I sing each other the songs and quote some of the lines. It's a good friendship story wrapped in drug-fueled adventures and misadventures. But really, I bought it mostly because of the songs.

It hit's home.
I grew up as a musician in the beach cities of Southern California. In the 80's and 90's my guitar playing friends and I were always looking for the holy grail of guitars and amplifiers. It was ridiculous how excitable we were about playing guitar and guitar equipment. Everything was so magical and secretive. We'd hear about some guy in some basement somewhere who was making these amazing amplifiers or was sitting on some vintage guitars, and we would drive sometimes hundreds of miles to check out their stuff, usually with a lot of drama on the trip. We'd go on these insane treasure hunts all the time. So this movie really does a great job of making fun of us....and yes, there were even times when we would search for rare and vintage guitar picks because they reportedly had something incredibly special about them. We could play with no others than these, for they had "the tone". lol

Too Late Now
Friends told me for years to watch this. I wish I never had. What a complete waste of time that I'll never get back. I kept waiting for something funny to happen. Nothing, not a single thing.

great funny movie
We always loved this movie and got this to add to our current collection. Jack Black and Cage are a great duo in this, and the fact Dio and Meatloaf are in here is pretty cool. Kooky movie with hilarious circumstances, just a silly fun movie like the actors themselves. Came packaged well and worked great. :)

It's Tenacious!
Awesomely funny movie, with Jack Black and Kyle Glass, otherwise known as Tenacious D. This movie bring their music, and acting skills together in a strange and twisted tale. If you like Tenacious D, or are just a Jack Black fan, this movie is a must have.

Fun to get high and watch but we all know it's bad
This movie is not good, by any means. But maybe that's why I enjoy it, as always it's fun to watch JB and Cage make stupid fart and sex jokes, as they've done their entire career. It's just that, as a film, this is absolutely horrible, but if you put it on in a room full of friends that appreciate bad humor and enjoy Tenacious D, you'll have a solid time.

Great movie!
This will go down as a classic one day. Very funny stuff. If you know Tenacious D then you know what to expect. I love Dave Grohl playing the devil. That song is so catchy!

A perfect movie for those nice lazy days
If you're into really rude and crude humor then this movie is right up your alley. I couldn't believe how many cameo's their were in this movie. I guess the first part to success really is being noticed like everybody says. I guarantee you won't be disappointed if you buy this because you will watch it many times over. I also highly recommend the other Tenacious D DVD's because they are hilarious!I hope my review helped you.

Hilarious
If you like JB and KG you will have already seen this a million times and then some. I hadn't actually seen this before really (!) and thought it was hilarious. I've liked JB (though probably wouldn't go out and buy a Tenacious D album - I prefer the songs in the context of a film) in other movies so it was inevitable I would eventually check this out. Some of the extras I actually found quite dull though! However, I bought it for the film itself so that doesn't matter!

Side-splitting humour
Jack Black can be really hit and miss in his films. King Kong and Orange County were very disappointing films but I loved his disgruntled biker in Anchorman, he really found his feet in Shallow Hall and he was superb in School Of Rock. However, as part of 'The D' he is at his zaniest and most original and in Kyle Gass he has a sympathetic ally for his humour. PoD is a hilarious tale of improbable happenings in search of a mystical guitar pick fashioned from the horn of Beelzebub that has passed through the hands of and been the energy force for the worlds greatest guitarists.I love this film and my only regret is that they couldn't have found a more substantial storyline for Ben Stiller who plays such a fantastic character as the music store owner who sets them on the trail of the PoD. To give you a taster, the opening sequence involves an adolescent Jb being chastised by his bible-bashing father played by Meatloaf (hilarious on its own) only to then sit in his room and take inspiration to go on the run as a result of Ronny James Dio appearing as an apparition from a poster on the back of his bedroom door and singing some advice to him. From there on in, the humour of Black and Gass continues. This film is divisive ... its like Marmite - you'll either love it or dismiss it as puerile humour. I personally love it and think there is plenty of mileage left for JB and KG to return in a subsequent adventure in their surreal world of rock. I want more please !!!

My favourite film with JB! :D
I watched this film a few yesrs back, but when I was about to watch it then I didn't feel too high in hopes about it. And now in the present... I'm finding myself ordering a new copy!!!Firstly, I love the music. Which is a rock/metal genre. for you all who have some interest in the music which will be featured throughout it. The songs remind me a bit of System Of A Down, just not as crazy and metallic. And much shorter.. About 1-2 minutes per song. Some people think that they may not be interested in the film either because of the ''rock 'n' roll'' theme or whatever, but honestly, in most cases you wouldn't need to be! Heck, come on... It's JACK BLACK!It's a great laugh the first time you watch it, but even when it stops getting so funny I'm finding myself hooked to the film. It's so entertaining. I wouldn't say it's been made ''cleverly'', but they've put something special into it for it to be simply and stupidly rad! :DOne thing I'm glad about is the availavility to listen to all of the songs from the film in the Special Features selection, which is going to give me some satisfaction before I buy the Soundtrack CD :)

Legends of Rock!
JB and KG are very funny in this movie that fits in quite well with the HBO TV series(on the Masterworks DVD). I think this is a brilliant and very rewatchable movie, a hilarious script, great cameos(Meat Loaf,Dio,Ben Stiller,Tim Robbins), and excellent songs. The opening scenes are particuarly funny and perhaps the ending could have been slightly more epic, but I feel if you're a fan of Tenacious D or like films like Roadie, School of Rock or Waynes World then you should love Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.

Bootleg quality
I really love this movie, yet, the DVD I received had bootleg quality.Low resolution and had no 16:9 format, even the box art looks like it was printed on a home printer. In my country, only the gipsy community keeps selling this kind of articles on fairs, I never though their main competition was on the web through the Amazon.Shame on you...
