Fantasea Line SharpEye M67 UW Macro Lens

I bought a couple of these Fantasea Sharp Eye M67 underwater closeup lenses. They fit nicely onto the 67mm threads that are built into the MegaGear underwater housing for the Canon G15. I had originally planned on buying the similarly priced Inon wet lenses (which provide slightly greater magnification) but those wouldn't have shipped in time for my dive trip. Poor planning on my part. However, I was still extremely pleased with the results from the Fantasea lenses. They yielded sharp photos with good colour and no visible chromatic aberration (purple fringing).For small subjects I stacked two of these lenses. When using these lenses, you screw one or more of them onto your underwater case, select the 'Macro' mode (at least on Canon cameras). You will need to zoom in so that the round barrel of the lens is no longer visible. Without zooming in, your photos will have a black frame around it as if viewed through a porthole. After zooming in, press the shutter button halfway and move the camera slightly closer to/further from the subject until you achieve the proper focus. It takes some practice and good buoyancy skills but you can end up with some great photos. I would discourage anyone with poor buoyancy control to avoid underwater photography. Sorry to be preachy, but please don't risk ruining the reefs if you can't handle yourself! :-)
