So tight - size chart wrong
These are so small. My knee circ. measures 14" but the small was much to tight to even pull up my leg. I ordered the medium and it fits fine if I'm standing, but if my knee is bent they're so painfully tight. I can't even bend my knee to sit or kneel to clip into my snowboard bindings with how tight these pads are. Just ordered the large size to see if that's better. For reference I am a really small lady and usually wear a small in clothing. The sizing on these is weird/ does not match the size chart. -- I have not snowboarded with these yet so I can't comment on their durability.

Great for snowboarding, side knee padding is essential
I like my knee pads tight, so you might need to size up if you don't. I am an adult female, 180 pounds with average size legs and the medium is very tight without straps. They are adjustable so you can tighten the velcro straps as needed. I recommend wearing on top of your base layer so it's less scratchy on your skin. They stay in place really well.

Not Bad
These definitely get the done. They protected my knees well but they were soooooo uncomfortable to wear for more than an hour.

I Never Leave Reviews But...
…these knee pads honestly merited one. Went snowboarding for the first time two weeks ago. After attempt at it -- including several pretty intense falls -- it took a few days before I could even walk normally again. I just went out for my second go at it with these on and the difference was HUGE. I cannot emphasize that enough: HUGE.Of all the times I fell (and there were plenty) I only felt real knee pain once and that was when someone actually crashed into me. This speaks particularly highly of these pads as I'm still nursing knee sensitivity from an injury a while back. The rest of the time I was snowboarding (and falling on my knees quite regularly) these consistently absorbed the impact. I was not only in less pain, I was quicker to jump up, and also felt more comfortable getting up!My favorite pros about them:*Neoprene material is wonderful -- it was kind of warm last time we went and I got a little sweaty, but the material doesn't absorb like others might so they remained comfortable and non-itchy*Pads are of a DENSE squishy material; another reviewer mentioned this and I didn't completely understand -- but this material is definitely denser and nicer than that of, say, volleyball kneepads*Large pads cover not just front of kneecap but sides also*Large enough to absorb impact, but discrete enough that you can't tell you're wearing them underneath snow pantsI truly believe that I will always wear these snowboarding -- even someday when I (hopefully) don't fall as much. They were comfortable, easy, and all-around AMAZING. I questioned spending the extra money on these vs. some cheap volleyball pads, but honestly: WORTH EVERY PENNY. If you're considering them, just get them.

Love love love
I bought these in 2014 but didn't really get to use them until last season since I bought them so late. This was definitely one of the best investments I've made since starting to learn snowboarding. I used to come home with my knees all banged up and bruised from falling all the time but these have saved me all that pain. And as an added bonus my knees don't freeze when I'm sitting on my knees waiting for friends to catch up/strap in.I bought a medium because that's what I needed for my thigh size but they didn't fit at all on my calves, I went and bought a little velcro sewed it on and now they're perfect.Stats:Female5'5"158lbsExtra note: I've noticed that the padding is slowly compressing so I might have to get another set next year or the year after but $30 every 2-3 years is still worth it2017 Update (3 years later): I still love these kneepads but I will now need to buy another set. They've stretched out and no longer stay in place and I've started getting knee bruises again from the padding getting so thin in spots. I still think they are the best snow sports investment I've made yet! If you're thinking about buying them... Just do it, you won't regret it!

tiny
ordered the large size and these were so small! i’m a 5’6 female 130lb and they pinched the back of my knees just walking around, i can’t imagine the suffering if i actually had tried these snowboarding. if you’re struggling with knee pads like i was when i bought these i recommend the telekneesis knee pads by black diamond, they’ve been a life (and knee) saver without any pinching and full flexibility

Saved my MCL
Wore these snow boarding, all my normal falls onto my knees were fine, these were great. I had one really bad fall where my knee fully bent laterally and these kept my MCL from tearing and provided enough support (after 10 min of adjusting to the pain) for me to semi slide my way down the mountain and limp to urgent care. They retained their shape and will use them again.
