Decent
This Hartz UltraGuard flea and tick collar works decently as a basic preventative option. Itโs easy to put on, adjustable for growing kittens or adult cats, and claims 7 months of protection, which is convenient. I noticed it did help reduce fleas on my cat during a mild infestation. However, itโs not nearly as effective as topical treatments or higher-end collars. It took a couple of weeks to really see results, and it didnโt completely eliminate the problem. The smell is quite strong at first (though it does fade), and I was a bit concerned about the chemical content. Itโs an affordable choice for light flea pressure or as a backup, but for serious infestations or sensitive cats, Iโd look for something stronger. Overall, itโs an okay budget collar that gets partial results.

Good price 4 a Flea collar w/ minimal packaging. It's breakaway; has No smells. Cat seems happy.
Great price. Used on the "community cat" who roams our neighborhood, and wanted it to be breakaway in case she gets herself into a tight spot. Nobody has taken it off, so I guess it is acceptable to all. I wanted it because sometimes the cat slips into our house when I'm getting a dish ready for her, and I didn't want to have to deal with fleas in our home. I've let strays in before (back when I was younger and had apartments) and ended up having to flea bomb the places, so I wasn't going to let that happen again. She seems to scratch at it, but I hope that means it's working. We haven't gotten fleas yet, and we've been more liberal about letting her in since the collar has been on, and the temps have dropped here in the midwest. Don't want the animal to freeze, but am still cautious about claiming her as ours, since we know she visits other "patrons" in the neighborhood. Glad to know it's got 7 month protection, since that will get us through to the summer. I didn't detect any smell to it, and it seems to be high quality with no side effects, since she has been back almost every day for her can of tuna. I'll write back and let you know if we get fleas in here, but so far as good. "A" quality product. Not intense packaging either. Very pleased.

Easy and effective flea & tick protection I got this Hartz Ultraguard flea and tick collar for my cats, and it works really well. Itโs easy to put on, adjustable, and lightweight, so my cats barely notice it. Itโs helped keep fleas and ticks away without any issues or irritation, and I feel good knowing theyโre protected. Great value for the price and a hassle-free way to keep my cats pest-free! ๐ฑ

Works as expected
A few things to address when assessing this product and the other reviews: 1) If you do some research on the internet, you will realize that different flea medications work better in different areas. Advantage did not work for us. Front line does. Just because this product may not work for your pet doesn't mean it's faulty or expired. 2) If your pet already has fleas, this product takes at least three applications before it will start to work effectively. Our cat did have fleas and it took three applications. Fleas are no joke and always take time to get under control. Just because they don't disappear overnight doesn't mean it is faulty or expired. 3) Fleas can become immune. Doesn't mean the product is faulty or expired. 4) It is toxic, obviously. There is a risk your pet could have a serious adverse reaction. It is a pesticide for goodness sake. You are taking a chance and weighing your options. It doesn't make you a terrible person if you have circumstances where your pet having fleas would be terrible - like if you have a newborn or an infant and your pet is hellbent on going outside anyway. So there's all that. With that being said, frontline is the only medication that works for us. We only use it half of the year and start it early enough to be effective by peak flea months, though the product recommends year round applications.

RIP pumpkin,&symphony Rose dont buy Hartz Rest in peace, pumpkin, and symphony Rose DONT buy Hartz
I can give this is zero I would give this to all Hartz products The summer I took the lives of two of my cats after using it for several years because it was an affordable option after they passed away I did research and found that I was not the only one that passed away from Adams or Hartz brand products or shampoo drops colors. I put the correct dosing on two of my adult cats and then, with a few days, they started having a lot of weight loss, lethargic, crying, and wanting to lay in my lap losing weight, lost interest in food and water. I called my vet he was out of town. He was the only one that would take payment plans and he said if I could get them to survive until Monday, he would see them and so I had to give them baby food and syringe feed them water, and they unfortunately did not make it rest in peace, my sweet baby, pumpkin, and symphony Rose, you are my angels and I miss you so much and I am so mad that they are selling products that have toxic chemicals in them that are not safe for animals and if you do a deep dive on this product youโll see this is not the only time this happened Iโm mad and I tried to call Hartz and they tried to say that this doesnโt happen with their product and thatโs a straight lie. Do not use Hartz brand anything Horrible, awful evil product straight poison they died in my arms peacefully after their liver and kidneys shut down even with me trying to nurse them with lots of experience back to health until I can get them to the vet back in town. Hartz is evil and toxic.

These worked for me! And 3 pugs and the cat..
Edit- replace at 30 days with diligence. And keep on top of things or the little pests make a comeback. I have 3 pugs and an indoor/outdoor cat. My cat consorts with the homeless kitties in the neighborhood, and he picks up fleas pretty easily. I've tried Frontline which was somewhat effective for a short time, but the fleas were still present a week after application, though they were half dead, they were still there. So I looked at a multitude of flea collars and figured for the price, these had enough good reviews to give them a try. And I'm so glad I did. It's been a month of collar use on all 4 pets, without Frontline and I still haven't found any fleas on my pugs! One pug in particular must be extra tasty, she seems to be the main host for them. But as often as I check with a flea comb, I never find a single flea, nor any flea dirt. I will be ordering more and keeping on top of things all year, since these fleas seem to be resistant to everything that I used to rely on. The collars do have a strong odor the first couple of days but it dissipates, while still remaining effective.

Must have
Great collar my cat skin at first was irritated but then it went away after a day. Love the color and the smell of it. So far so good I will come back and give an update when the weather gets nicer and my cat is hanging out in our yard with us and hoping this works and no flea problems.

Seems to work well.
Ensure you clean your cat of all fleas before you put the collar on. If the cat is heavy flea infested already its not expected to be as effective. The only issue I feel is a strong fragrance which is good for me but I am not sure how the cat is dealing with it.

Doesnt work
It poisoned my cat but not the mites, the cat became drowsy and melancholic after 7 days of wearing it
