Not Plug And Play, But Excellent If You Have A Little Knowledge
I chose this Bazooka sub months ago. I chose it because it came loaded with a 10-Inch Woofer (can't possibly do 6.5 nor 8" sub...the size is too close to my 6.5" door speakers...seems like a violation of sorts to get a subwoofer the same size as my woofers...maybe it's just me). Initially, I had it hooked up in parallel to the subwoofer output of my stock headunit. It sounded better than the stock subwoofer (an 8-inch woofer that wasn't too bad, but that suffered because of it's metal baffle in the rear deck). I actually drove around with it like that for a few months, which coincidentally allowed the Bazooka to break-in quite a bit. The bass was pretty good at that low wattage (couldn't have been getting more than thirty watts from the deck). Finally, I purchased an Alpine MRV-M500 Mono subwoofer amplifier - 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms which ultimately gives out 565W RMS (per the included insert). I went with Alpine because of its proven track record of clean, industry-standard wattage. I mean really: what would've been the point of skipping the amplified, tuned Bazooka tube only to buy a cheap amplifier? IN addition, something I wanted to consider is that the battery and alternator in my Honda Civic is very small, so going with a quality D-Class amplifier was essential (at least in my mind). It may have taken a few months to get the money, but I thought I would be happier for it...and I was... The initial install (done by a local installer), was cool...but I'm not a newbie at this. I finally tired of the one-note reproduction of the install, and rewired it myself...using the amplifier's high-level input as opposed to the intermediate hi-low converter that the installer put in. Immediately, the full range of the Bazooka showed through. This sub, in a word, rocks! Knowing that my amplifier puts out a great amount of wattage, I have everything turned down on it (save a 3db boost at 45Hz on the amp). I listen to rap, rock, trance (love trance)...and this sub reproduces everything with great fidelity. I see some other reviewers complaining about the boominess of the sub, but I just don't see it. It took a while to get it tuned to where I want it (LPF @ 60-70Hz; 3db Boost @ 45Hz; Gain @ Min), but I can now listen to whatever I want to listen to, and it comes through clean and full from the sub... In my opinion, unless you have connections in the electronic world, there is no other sub that you're going to get with the convenience and musicality of this sub. The fact that this sub only needs a little power to perform is a plus, in my book. Of course, when I was younger, I wanted the most powerful subs, even if I couldn't afford the right amps to push it...it didn't matter. Now, with a little more age on me, I see it the exact opposite lol Now, I'll put out more for my amps and if I have to wait for the sub...so be it. Something else that should be considered with this sub, is the very small size of it. I have almost all of my trunk space still, and may end up purchasing a net so that none of my random items in the trunk slide under the Bazooka grill and damage the woofer. I've been thinking of attempting a driver swap on the Bazooka, but haven't done enough research to warrant any suggestions. Regardless, the sub is fine the way it is. It's not going to go very low (seems to begin rolling off around 43Hz), but most music does not go very low. If you want to go extremely low, you should not be looking at $100 Subwoofers w/ enclosures. $100 is the least you'll want to spend for a driver--alone. Either way, if you're on the fence, in want of a subwoofer that'll add a good amount of punch to your music, representing bass guitar notes rather well...this is the sub for you. Again, it's not plug-and-play, but that's a good thing. You can shape your music however you want...just don't buy a cheap amp. In my experience, you can normally push a driver to twice its rated power as long as you keep the wattage clean... Thus, your amp is going to be more important. Alpine is a great suggestion, but there are others...do your research.

Inspect your purchase for damages
I've used, Bazooka products for many years and I never had any issues...until I received this one,it came damaged. No one helped me with my damage Bazooka. Over all,it sounds good and I'll still be using Bazooka products for many more years, but I guess this one slipped through the cracks and made it to a customer..."ME". Honestly,I like it still, but I wish I didn't come damaged. Sounds good in my truck

Blew it!
I blew it that is. Sub sounded very good and seemed to break in and sound better over the month I used it. Got it before I knew more about amps and subs, but now I know more. Regardless, I was powering it with a 600 watt RMS Alpine amp wired for 2 ohms, paralleled the dual coils on the sub. Obviously enough for this sub, though apparently too much. Pretty much right when I felt the sub at it's best, which was amazing, the moment was over and all bass was lost. The sub pounded my chest very hard, if I wore contacts I'm certain they would've popped out. I know it would've lasted longer if I listened to pop or hip-hop music, which hits hard in pulses, not continually. I listed to metal, hard-core, etc., and the majority of the time is double-bass constant power output, which from my understanding is generally RMS wattage (average power). With my amp pumping out 600 watts RMS and the speaker coils, from my research, at only 250 watts RMS I failed this sub. I bought it looking at the max wattage not understanding the RMS wattage, which I may still not fully understand. I tend to turn the bass up till the point of failure, which my next sub purchase will have HIGHER wattage ratings than my amp can supply in hopes that it will not fail.

Great value
Although its not dual 4ohms, it is actually dual 8ohms, but when you connect both voice coils in series it turns into 4ohms, if it were dual 4ohms, then you would be dropping the resistence to 2ohms when you connect both voice coils in series, in turn it would be more powerful, but you would also need a much more expensive amp, and it's the opposite when you connect them in parallel, but anyways, I've been watching the Bazooka brand for many years, they have been progressing from good to better, and always a good value, as huge as this tube is I had to put it on the floor of my Chrysler Aspen, in between the second and third row, with about 6" clearance from the cone to the wall, the results are that I can not fold my third row completely, but even though bass is very impressively loud, I'm gonna eventually take it out, becouse for what I use the vehicle is for family, and besides it came with a alpine system that is outstanding, so eventually I'm gonna put the tube, and a bandpass box with a punch woofer in hatchback, just for me to drive from work and school, by myself, so I wont hurt any of my familys ears lol, whenever I can save up some dough for the hatchback, hehehe..... "I would recomend this product in a heart beat."

Good speaker
I’ve had this thing for 6 years now, hooked up at a 800w amp (way to much power) but it’s honestly handled ever bit of it till now. The end of the tube broke off at one point but nothing epoxy couldn’t fix. I don’t remember how much I payed for this thing back then but it was worth it.
