VOLTA Charger XL Cable Set - USB-C to USB-C, Power Delivery, Quick Charge 3.0, Fast Charge, Rapid Charge & OTG Compatible (USB-C x1 TIP)

Initially I really liked the cable, the magnet is strong, but a little bulky and all seemed well.I plugged the tip-bit into a port and left it there since day one.Then, after 5-6 days the laptop got really hot and the Volta plug (the part on the cable) was so hot I couldn't touch it.I unsnapped the cable and left it like that. Then later on finished charging my Macbook Pro.The next day I noticed I wasn't charging and figured out that the port on my laptop didn't work anymore.Trying the original Apple cable and other accessories in that port - Nothing works.Everything works in other ports.Volta so far has not answered any of my questions and has been wholly unhelpful and unresponsive...So don't buy this piece of crap. I now need a new Logic board in my Macbook Pro.

I seriously wanted to love these a lot more than I do. I think the technology is amazing, and that it has real value as an alternative to constantly damaging your type C-port with repeated plugging and un plugging throughout its life. Unfortunately... this magnet does not only connect to its charging counterpart... but also dust like iron deposits that can be found in pockets, in the foot area of your car, inside the pockets of your favorite laptop bag/backpack. These sand-like iron specs are just enough to prevent a solid connection to these cables. A seriously GREAT product.... for a very imperfect world.I bought 4 of these cables.... and although i wouldn't say i regret the purchase (even though these are pretty expensive)... i can't say i would recommend this product either.

 If you are anything like me, reader, which you must be as you're reading this... You're trying to puzzle out a good replacement for our missing magsafe charger. There really doesn't appear to be much consensus presently, particularly for those that provide data as well as power, which was unnecessary for my needs. What ultimately seemed to be the biggest concern was the strength of the magnets and stiffness of the cords. It took a video of this particular connector snapping from two inches or so away to be clear that it was a strong connection.I just received mine and have no doubt about the strength of this connector's ... connection. ;) I included a photo to show off the bright indicator light. Why do companies keep using hilariously bright lights for things like this? It isn't so bad as the photo unless you're directly in line with it, which is not a problem with my setup.Day 1: Very happy with my purchase

Was perfect out of the box. A terrific product. Then, just this last week, it just stopped working. The led that showed power no longer lights and the laptop isn't being charged. Went over every inch of the cable looking for pinching, etc. Pristine. I have absolutely no clue, and the return window on this has closed so I guess it's off to the trash bin. It's a pity, because I have been looking at additional products from Volta. That ship has sailed.As an addendum, after the above was penned, and giving credit where credit is due, I contacted the vendor and they requested a picture of the non-charging device with their cable attached along with my Amazon order number. I provided same and my new cable is on the way. I did have to pay shipping, however, hence 4 stars.

Great Cable but still don't know if its good to use on my expensive Devices. The problem is that there is no real certification for these YET. Even with a Meter. You don't know if the continuity or consistency is accurate enough to harm your devices. I returned only because of this.HOWEVER! The cable and end piece I received was built great. The quality of the cable and piece did feel like an Anker Cable durability. The Magnets are strong and worked like the should.When Certifications are required and become available to mag safe like cables Ill be the first to repurchase a new cert Mag safe like cable.

I bought two of these so I would always have a spare in my work bag and one at home. Out of the box the cable was fantastic: strong magnet and a braided fabric sheath gave it a good build quality. After 6 months of use, one of the cables just stopped working.After reading other reviews of the plug getting really hot, I noticed mine was also very hot to the touch. So hot that I'm worried that it will do damage to my Macbook.I've stopped using the still functioning cable and gone back to the OEM cable from Apple.I really wanted to love this cable and was ecstatic when I found it. Now I have yet another piece of useless junk from Amazon.

 I’m updating my review. I thought the cable was working, but it overheats and half the time it doesn’t want to charge. I’ve been in touch with Volta, but their emails have been delayed to once a day and still don’t have a shipping confirmation for a replacement. Overall not happy.

This is actually my second Volta XL cable, but I didn't want to go through the site to wait weeks for it to eventually make its way to the US. Actually, my first Volta XL cable was an Indiegogo pre-order, and that one actually has issues when not utilizing a USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB-A power brick (it can work with USB-C power bricks when daisy-chaining the USB-C to -A adapter with a USB-A to -C adapter, though apparently not all USB-A-to-C adapters work equally in this configuration), while this newer one works just as one would hope it would! It's possible that any issues with the crowdfunded early models have now mostly been ironed out with the later batches.
