Best/ smartest thing ive ever bought
Packaging was very secure, easy to unpack, great instructions for set up/care. Great quality equipment, wish the glass jar felt a bit more stronger but im just careful carrying/lifting it..Definitely use two hands when its full of pure distilled H2O water but otherwise its a beautiful distiller/glass container. I use it every other day, just for myself and my pets but dose warm up the room its in (been very nice in the winter so far, see how summer goes) but the pure H2O water it produces is so pretty...it basically sparkles its so clear. So the gunk in the tank afterwards is always different, im kinda shocked that the tap water in Chicago is so gross but im not realy suprised. Im sure there is worse places, im mostly left with murky water and build up residue but a few times its been like mushy boogers galore..so gross and I cant imagine what that is ive been drinking. Very easy to clean, ive just been using white vinegar (soaking for 5-30min depending) wipes right off and good to go. Ive been filling just a little past the line (don't go over or it will overfill the glass jar, but I do this so it turns off with some water left in it and dosen't completely dry up... regardless the white vinegar cleans it right up. *Dont open or clean till its cooled off. *Going to by a can of air too clean the fan and coils with from any dust that might build up on them. I love it so much, the water tastes AMAZING. I add sol'e (that I made) to my 2 gallon drinking water container for some good natural minerals, just a half teaspoon. Ive also been given it to my cats, the love it and just started giving my plants some as well (but without any sol'e) I have a spray bottle of distilled pure H2O on my bathroom sink that I use to wash my face now...my skin is glowing. A few days after drinking the distilled pure H2O water my joints felt so much better it incredible but I did notice i was having detoxing effects from drinking it but wasn't that bad and well worth the benefits. Also noticed my teeth seem cleaner/so smooth and shiny. Best thing you can do is invest in your health and this is a great 1st step in that direction. 100% recommend this for your home. Ps: i paid for this with my own money, for my own personal use in helping my health. *update* works GREAT, very happy with it. One recommendation is to not let it run till it turns off (u can of course) but I find that any funky smells/dry residue left behind from water in tank can be really bad and put the filter through hell, even ruining fresh distilled waterwith icky smell.. Also definitely wait till inside of tank airs out/cools down because when you open it the smell can be harsh. After that i put icky smelly filter in some distilled water for 30min, then again in more fresh distilled water for another 30min let dry in sunlight and its been good too reuse.

Water tastes great! The fan is NOT loud! Very high quality! [Must Read]
QUALITY: I purchased the Heavy Duty model because of its higher-quality stainless steel, which was the right choice. Overall, it's clear that this is a well-designed product made of high-quality materials. EASE OF USE: It is very easy to use, though I clean it after each use. It's very easy to clean. I drink about 1.5 gallons daily. TASTE: Amazing! I was expecting the water to taste funky, but I was pleasantly surprised when I realized how great it tasted. Although I have been adding trace minerals, this was not for the taste (see below). The water produced tastes great without adding anything to it, and it took no getting used to. TRACE MINERALS: I have been using the recommended ConcenTrace trace minerals. I've been adding the drops to each gallon, starting low and increasing over time. I found this necessary because my mouth kept getting dried out despite drinking a lot of distilled water. I learned that we need minerals for 'hydration.' Since I added the trace minerals, this issue has gone away. I've noticed zero change in taste so far when adding the trace minerals. This may be due to me increasing the dose gradually. Initially, I planned on using Himalayan salt to add minerals, but I changed my mind after finding a study on plastics found in sea salt and mountain salt, which was surprising. I have some ultra-fine Himalayan salt on hand as a backup. THE FAN: Anyone complaining about the fan's noise is looking for something to whine about. I'm very hypersensitive to even the slightest sounds, and this doesn't bother me at all. The noise is no louder than the sound from the fan in my computer when it is running its scheduled scan. It's barely noticeable. WARRANTY: I bought Amazon Asurion's extended 4-year warranty. I always purchase extended warranties for these types of items, and it always comes in handy. I always buy for the longest time available, in this case, 4 years. Best bang for the buck. If this unit has issues out of warranty, I can get a new unit for free as long as it's within 4 years; it's well worth the investment. I spoke with MegaHome about complaints regarding the motor going bad soon after the warranty. They assured me this is extremely rare and usually a result of something else, such as customers not cleaning the unit properly inside and out. You can find YouTube videos on how to care for the unit. REVERSE OSMOSIS VS DISTILLED: 1) I initially planned to buy an RO countertop system until I learned that the filtration/membrane of a reverse osmosis system could add micro/nano plastics. I immediately knew this was my best choice. 2) the cost of replacing filters with an RO system is expensive. 3) This distilled unit has fewer compartments to clean, and this is high-grade stainless steel vs the plastic of an RO system.

Water Distiller
I have had this water distiller for 2 years now and it still is working great. I use it consistently in the winter months (4 straight months) to get water to use in our humidifier. Only requirement is to clean it after the winter use and replace the charcoal filter every 1 or 2 months. Easy to use with perfectly distilled water every time.

love the crystal clear water.
great product so far. love the taste of the nice clean water it produces .but i am not using regular tap water straight , i distill all ready filtered water . it's just my preference . when the water is done i just add a pinch of pink salt to a gallon to make up the the mineral balance that is usually lost in distilled water and add 21 drops of 12% Hydrogen Peroxide for extra the oxygen . these little additions gives the water a nice and crispy spring water flavor and quality and also the extra oxygen it's very good for your overall energy and health.i read some rust issues in some other reviews . mine is nice and clean after about 2 months of frequent use. but it is very important to clean it good. i don't only use just the cleaner that comes with the machine, i usually make 3 gallon water at once, it could make 1 gallon in about 5 hours so when one gallon is done i pour the good water into a glass jar, dump the left over water from the bottom, just a quick rinse with clean water if i need and i just fill it up again/it could only hold a gallon water at a time /and repeat the process . so i could make two gallons during the day /about 10 hours/ and i let it run again once at night so by the morning i have 3 gallon water ready ,which for only one person will be enough for 3-4 days depending of your water intake , hotter months obviously make you drink more , or if you work out , hike a lot :) so this way i don't have to do the cleaning process after every single gallon i make.. my way of cleaning it is , i use a combination of apple cider vinegar/sodium bicarbonate=baking soda/and the cleaner it comes with, after i dumped the rest of the water from the bottom i just pour little apple cider i in the bottom add the sodium bicarbonate and the original cleaner that comes with the distiller, let it set for a minute to let them do their magic and then with a soft /not metallic scrub/ i just scrub it nicely and i rinse it . if it did it's job then i just dry it with a paper towel. if i still see some discolorations on the bottom or on the side i repeat the process. if you use tap water to distill your water this gentle method may won't work for you as you have to deal with more residue at the end. then please use the recommended cleaning method mentioned in the user's manual by the factory, a good trick to make the cleaning easier in either case is that you don't let the distiller to run its full program till it'll shut of by it self, because by that time the inside is all dried up with everything in it , so any residues you may distilled out of your water will be hardened to the bottom, so to avoid that get a kitchen timer that you could plug in to one of your electrical outlet, i've got mine Ebay for about 10 bucks its called Century,if you put in to Ebay's search window it'll should come up. then set the timer for about 5 hours then it'll turn the distiller off for you before it'll dry out. with my timer i figured it out if i set it one mark above 5 hours then it's perfect timing. but you may have to experiencing with it what will work best for the water you work with, let say if you use tap water you may need to shot it of a bit earlier to dump all that residue out a bit easier. also between distillation i take out the filter from the nozzle to let it air dry to make sure it wont get any mold by sitting in there fold up wet for days . anyway, hope this helps, have a blessed day everyone :)

Pitting After Almost A Month
The product was fairly easy to use. Just make sure you press hard on the reset button for a few seconds, after the initial distillation, or the water won't boil. The distiller could have been designed better to turn off the power, once distillation is completed. Unplug it right away after its done, or it can overheat. The plastic cap on the collection bottle is annoying, because you have to hold down hard at the right place to pour out the water, or it spills everywhere. I took a test of the tap water that was 587 TDS, distilled it, and got 2 TDS. It does work, and the water tastes soft. Even though the instructions say that you could use the water residue cleaner once a month, or that the distiller could still be used even when residue was building up on the bottom, I used it after every distillation, since there was residue buildup, and could corrode it faster. After almost a month, I noticed pitting, which was a deal breaker for me, so I ended up having to return it. The distiller is not efficient if you have to wait 5.5 hours to get 1 gallon of water. There are reverse osmosis filtration systems that can give you water in seconds, and can give you a TDS of less than 10. I don't understand how some people think this is an investment. You spend $299 + tax, spend extra $ on electricity, as it uses 580 watts for 5.5 hours for one distillation, spend $ on charcoal filters that lasts about a month, and spend $ on residue cleaner after every use, if you used tap water like I did. If you want a real investment, go to a local store and buy distilled water. Its not expensive.

Simply the best in its class. 316 boiler/lid, Made in Germany carafe, UL listed, etc.
This is the best distiller for this type of fan lid type of distiller. Solid electrical fittings with no gaps or wobble whatsoever like other brands have. UL listed to reduce fire risk. It would be great to see an industrial Omron timer or similar integrated into it to avoid the hard shutoff via the integrated temperature breaker. This reduces scale and may increase the quality of water by not vaporizing tap water dregs that may end up condensing unpure water. I get a solid 2.9 TDS with the current temp circuit breaker config with a scientific grade Apera Instruments water meter. The Zero Water TDS meter shows 0-1.0, again with same temp circuit breaker config. Adding an industrial timer to shutoff earlier may avoid the dregs turning into contaminated condensate. Either way, it's clean enough for now until I can find an industrial grade countdown timer which I think will make it work even better. It says you can boil sea water, river water, etc. since it's 316 stainless. I think that says it all about the durability of this beast. If possible, I would like to see a 316 stainless double boiler version to get even more pure water. This unit currently will remove, microplastics, fluoride, etc. at a very high level. This will not remove PFAS, PFAO, etc. since they have a low boiling point and condense along with the water. I currently run the distilled water through a berkey gravity water filter after to remove any PFAS and any other volatile contaminants. Hybrid distillers that are rated to remove PFAS use a combo distillation and nanofiltration (berkey-like filtration) or reverse osmosis configuration.

Love my new Megahome water distiller
I used a Berkey brand water filter for years thinking I was getting superior water quality which one would expect since it’s pretty expensive and had a good reputation. After hearing some Berkey complaints on YouTube, I decided to purchase a water quality tester and discovered the Berkey produced around 195 ppm (parts per million) and my filtered refrigerator water around 163 ppm. Both the Berkey and the filter refrigerator water were better than faucet water of 215 ppm, but not as good as I thought I was getting from my Berkey. So after some more research, I discovered that distilled water and Reverse Osmosis water were definitely more ideal for drinking water and typically produces anywhere between 0-50 ppm. I chose the Megahome Water Distiller to try out because it supposedly has a higher quality stainless steel tank. I’ve used my new distiller for several weeks now and am extremely pleased with the results. I’ve tested every batch and get an average of 1 to 2 ppm which is considered ideal for drinking water or using in home appliances that require water like an iron. I heard one woman’s review who said she doesn’t use the carbon filter that it comes with and so I haven’t used one either. For me, I figured why use one and have to constantly buy new filters if the machine works well without one. I’m NOT recommending you shouldn’t use a carbon filter, that’s just what I’m doing so far. Next, this distiller is quite loud and annoying, so I put mine in my laundry room and close the door so I don’t have to listen to the annoying sound for hours. My first few batches took around 6 hours which seems really long for a one gallon batch of water. I listened to another review where this man recommended boiling the water in a pot or large tea kettle first will speed up the distillation process and it definitely does for me. It still takes about 4 hours, but cutting it down 2 hours is well worth this extra step for me. But you do what works best for you. I’m just so happy to know I’m finally getting the clean drinking water I want with this product.

This distiller is worth every penny.
316 SS is very durable. I make a minimum of 3 carafe (3 gallons) of distilled water a day and sometimes 4! I purchased a silicone mat for under it to protect the counter top and to provide a "soft landing" for the glass carafe as I wouldn't want to break it on my granite countertop - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N33N5WB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I purchased a very short right angle power cord to clean up the amount of space it consumes on my countertop and to keep the cord in the base from sticking out - if you want a slightly longer one, make sure it is at least 12-16 AWG, DO NOT USE 18 AWG. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CC5JK55N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I purchased an Alexa Smart Plug 15A (same rating as the breaker on the front of the distiller). I then set up a routine in Alexa called "make water" that turns on the distiller for exactly 5 hours 20 minutes which leaves about half an inch of water (I fill it just at the top fill line) then Alexa turns it off. Exactly a gallon of distilled water in the carafe. Let it cool. A quick rinse, fill, and it is ready to go again. I have been using it 5 weeks and haven't needed to clean it once. I use about 2-3 gallons a day for my hydroponics gardens in my apartment. My plants thrive. Coffee (Cappuccino) is so much better with distilled water!!! Any cooking that I do tastes better with distilled water! I use distilled water for the clean water supply for my Narwal Freo and it mops the floors so much more clean and "glossy/shiny" and it will keep residue from building up in the Freo making it last longer. Performance is better than expected. I am accumulating plastic jugs filled with distilled water (I used to buy it) for the Hurricane Season to flush toilets, drink, wash, and so on. *** WARNING *** DONOT USE WITHOUT THE CHARCOAL FILTERS. It smells really pungent (bad) while it is distilling without a couple filters in place and the distilled water smells bad too.
