A wonder!!
Everything I needed. Be patient!! I eased my two dogs into it. My small dogs (8 and 12lbs) are so completely over ridden with anxiety around clippers. This is a machine, even if it's quiet. I took steps, being VERY patient with my dogs, because if you have nervous dogs - one bad experience could ruin any future possibility. 1.) I put the trimmer against their body, while off, and praising them when done. 2.) The next step was running the grinder, while OFF, against their nail, to have them understand it would bring a sensation of texture, and that it was okay. 3.) Next was having the trimmer on, and getting them used to the sound. 4.) Second to last, I would have the trimmer on, and put it against the dog's body, so they could feel the vibration, but understand that it wasn't going to bring harm. 5.) Lastly, I slowly worked my most anxious dog up, paying attention to his threshold, doing only as many nails at a time as he would handle - and not pushing it past his comfort zone. If you do, you threaten to make the nail grinder a Bad Thing, so to speak, which we don't want to do so early on!!My 12lb old girl, who I've always had trouble trimming the nails of, has NO problem with this (except for when I hit the wrong angle and it skids - my fault!). After 13 years of her yelping whenevr we would attempt, I cannot tell you how happy it makes me that she is so calm now. It's quiet and has a fine, smooth grit. I've only had to charge it once since I received it on July 21st, though I expect I will have to again soon. Just make sure to blow the nail dust out routinely, and if you can, smooth the ends for a finishing touch for your own sake, and you'll have a great experience.

Good for Skittish Pups
My (then) 4 month old Yorkie HATED getting his nails done. He was so skittish about it that I asked the groomers not to do it. I wanted him to have me, someone he knew and trusted, teach him that it's ok. So, enter this fancy lil gadget. I did the usual, allowing him to explore it on and off, touching him with it and allowing him to get accustomed to the feel and sound. After a couple of days of this, I began working up to doing his nails. It took only about 30 minutes before I was able to easily do his nails. He still doesn't like it, but there is very little sound, the guide helps avoid over shaving, and the device is easy enough to hold that I can hold him and do his nails at the same time, quickly.

Quiet and easy to use.
I have to admit, I purchased this unit because it was less expensive than other similar ones listed, but it also had a high user rating. I am not disappointed. My dog adjusted to it easily because it is so quiet. I firmly hold his nail with my left hand and the grinder with my right, and that way the nail itself doesn't vibrate as I grind it down. If you're a little apprehensive about using a grinder because you're afraid you'll grind too much too fast and get into the quick, you'll find this unit is pretty safe. In fact, if your dogs nails are really long, you may want to clip them or have them clipped before you use the grinder because it doesn't grind the nails quickly. If you want to do a fast job, you might want a Dremel instead, but you probably have to be more skilled to use it in order to keep from grinding into the quick. I just use this grinder more often to keep his nails short and smooth. And it holds a charge for numerous uses.

Super quiet and really nicely made!
I’ve been going back and forth on trying a nail file on my cats for a bit and decided to give it a try! I’m giving this 5 stars because it is a well made product that’s quiet and files your pets nails nicely if they’ll let you- 1 cat is totally fine with it and the other is not letting me come near her with it so it’s a toss up how your pet will feel (she also gets a little nervous when we cut her nails though).I was so surprised with how quiet it was the first time I turned it on and how sturdy it seems for the price. I also really like that it came with an extra filing tip.I’ve only used the file 2 times on my cat Leo -he has zero issues with it and it’s really easy to control.***both my cats are Sphynx if your cat or dog has long hair I’d suggest trimming it before you get the file close to their nail!

Dog hates it but works great on my nails and to remove dead skin from heels
Was hoping this would work for my dog as he hates to have his nails trimmed. He HATES this thing. The sound isn't too bad when you turn it on but as soon as it makes contact with the nail, it gets louder and freaks my dog out. He now runs when I just pick it up. But I did find that it works great for trimming my nails (dip powder nails) when they get too long, therefore, extending the length of time between manicures for me. It also works great to sand off dead skin off the heels of my feet. Overall happy with the product just not using it for the intended use.

Trim to the 'Quick"
I can trim all my pet's nails with this regardless of size - our puppy, large labradoodle, and guinea pigs. Oddly, our guinea pigs don't even move if we use the grinder but squeal and jump if we use scissors. This is what you want if you have hardwood floors in your home.I used this to get my 12-year-old dog's nails short, SHORT, using new info from my vet. The Quick in a dog's nail retracts (shortens) after each nail trimming. Therefore, you can trim your dog's nails every 3 days and get those nails back to their shortest possible length. My old dog's nails are short and smooth and sounding so much softer on our hardwood floors!

My nervous dog is ok with this!
I wish I had found this years ago! My dog is a nervous Nellie and has always been scared to have his nails trimmed with a traditional clipper. He also has black nails so I can't see the quick and cut a nail too short a few times and he bled, which scared me and he freaked out so I would put off doing his nails and they would get too long.In the past I had purchased a PediPaws nail grinder, but the noise of it scared Cooper too so I was never really able to use it on him. This little gadget has been a Godsend! Cooper has been ok with it from day one and now will even lay on his back with his paws in the air and let me file his nails! I'm so happy to have found it! Very quiet operation and it doesn't scare Cooper!
