This was a quick read that offered insight into the thought of “Devil Anse”. This book in a compilation of letters written to his sons at the end of life with words of wisdom he obtained in his lifetime.This book is not meant to be a biography of events.

Based on my family discussions, it’s reasonably accurate.

I like that actual letters were used to write this book. I use it for genealogy as I do many other books written by using actual documents to publish the truth. I'm a McCoy descendant. My 3rd Great Grandmother was Mary McCoy, Aunt of Feudist Randolph McCoy.

seldom do history and leadership skills come together as they appear in this finely written book...the author's connection to the Hatfield's and his obvious business acumen combine for an entirely enjoyable read. Devil Anse, it turns out, had insight that few would have credited hm with unless documented in " Leadership Secrets of Devel Anse Hatfield". Both history buffs and businessmen/women will benefit from reading this book--ir certainly is, THE REAL McCOY!

Book was a quick read. Some of the chapters were a bit hokey but there are some good lessons in there.

Down to Earth advice for every leader, spun in a humorous manner, with the business speak stripped away. Also provides an opportunity to see inside the thoughts and mind of one of America's most misunderstood and under rated figures.

A first-rate and personal perspective on a very complex character. Bravo! Blankenship's recounting of these stories is both lively and entertaining. He gives much needed balance to Mr. Hatfield's life and times.
