gorgeous books
just wanted to say up front that i don't own this book(yet) so people might say "so why are you writing a review on this?" the reason is simple,Tom Johnson is a master when it comes to WW2 German collecting, i have many books that he has put together like the dagger photographic reference books, these coffee table books he puts together are a work of art,you can almost touch and smell the items the pictures are so gorgeous and the description of the items and the general text are the product of many decades of knowledge the man has, he is a pioneer of the hobby of collecting and a very honest and simple man,tom was collecting this stuff when it wasn't even popular to do so and has debunked many myths about the artifacts, makers etc. do yourself a favor and buy all the books in his line, they are worth every penny!!

Exceptional
Every now and then you come across a book that you cannot put down for various reasons, be it the storyline, the photos or the topic. This is one of those books that has all three of the above. It shows in fine colour photographs, and large ones at that, some very very rare militairia "liberated" by vets and brought back home. All types of trophies seem to have been secured such as Hats, medals, daggers, swords, firearms and uniforms to name a few and all are shown in excellent detail.Printed on fine glossy paper for excellent photographic reproduction it also shows US soldiers liberating, trading or searching for Third Reich artifacts which I found fascinating.Collectors from around the world have opened up their collections to the author for a very rare insight into authnetic Nazi memrobilia which few if us will ever see in our lifetime.I agree with the previous reviewer if you are a collector or do have an interest in the third reich paraphenalia this is a must have and worth every penny

Picture Perfect!
This extensive review of WWII German war booty is especially good - because of the superb photographs. Perfect for historians, collectors, reenactors or anyone trying to identify historic artifacts from the European theater. A great addition to the library of anyone interested in history.

WORLD WAR 11 GERMAN WAR BOOTY BY THOMAS JOHNSON
I HAVE SEVERAL PICTORIALS ON WORLD WAR 11 GERMAN MILITARIA, BUT THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST BOOK ON THE SUBJECT THAT I HAVE SEEN. THE PICTURES ARE AWESOME AND MR. JOHNSON CERTAINLY HAS DONE HIS HOMEWORK ON EACH PIECE. FOR THOSE OF US WHO COLLECT MILITARIA, BUT WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO OWN MOST OF THESE PIECES THIS IS CERTAINLY THE SECOND BEST THING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ALL WHO ARE IN WW11 GERMAN MILITARY PIECES!! LAWRENCE MOORE, GRIFFIN, GEORGIA 30223

Excellent!
This is a great pictorial book on German WW 2 souvenirs that was brought back by GI's after the war.The book has great close ups of hundreds of items that were brought back. This is not a book that will help you seperate fakes from originals.

Amazing Collection of hard-to-find and exquisite militaria in one great book!!!
This book is a great read-through for anyone who is interested in either militaria collecting or a general appreciation of the second world war. The one aspect of this books that sets it above the rest is its documentation of GI's taking these things back up, which is shown through several example photographs. I reccomend this book, yes the price may be high, but if you are interested in seeing amazing items like Hitler's famous "brown shirt", and a very large selection of other personalities, such as Goering, Himmler, and many others!!! Overall a wonderful book that is a great photo history!

Great book covering all sorts of rare souvenirs taken home ...
Great book covering all sorts of rare souvenirs taken home by US soldiers at the end of ww2.My only criticism is that the items covered are sometimes too unique and high end, it would be nice to see more common items covered.eg Service medals and qualification badges but I suppose there are other books covering that.Typical Schiffer publication, presentation is superb
