Should be mandatory reading for all Americans
Most have no idea what our ancestors sacrificed to provide our freedoms. Read what teenagers accomplished for us. It's staggering.

First-hand account of the battle of Bastogne...
Burgett was a 19 year old paratrooper in the 101st Airborne at the time of the battle of Bastogne. I think this was already his third campaign, having first landed behind German lines on D-Day. His account is harrowing and graphic at times, especially when he describes the combat and the resulting casualties. I can't verify the overall accuracy of his account but I did come across at least two errors. One related to a date (sorry, I didn't write it down but it was off by a day... not too big a deal), and a soldier that he recalled coming from Brooklyn (Ted Vetland) actually came from Norway (according to my Internet search). But these details don't detract from the value of the book. Seven Roads to Hell had me pretty hooked and I read it in about 5 days.

Rivetting Account of the Experience of Combat in War
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to experience combat in the military this is the book for you. Sargent Burgett did an outstanding job of putting down his actual experiences of being a line soldier in the 101st Airborne this book was riveting and a real page turner; very well written and easy to read.My continued praise to the veterans of WW2 there are so few of them still surviving, Sargent Burgett passed away in March of this year 2017.I also praise and pray for our current military and there families for their service to our country they are my heroes! This is one in a series of four books by Sargent Burgett combat experiences in WW2 be sure and read all of them it will be well worth your time.

I knew some of the 101st men who went through the Battle of the Bulge". Finally someone at the enlisted level wrote of their experiences. Everyone should read this book to learn what our soldiers did to keep us free and why we should not "sell" our freedom to the highest bidder.

The best damn book I've ever read on combat
The best book that I've ever read on combat told from the vantage of a common paratrooper in a common rifle company of an elite fighting unit while surrounded by common paratroopers with uncommon valor.Brandon D. McMorriesTarzan, Texas
