Glitter Lava Incredible Activity Putty Safari Adventure

Our impression of this toy gift came in waves. I didn't know about the Lava stuff prior to using this toy, and I assumed it would be oozy and disgusting. So I was pleasantly surprised that it was sturdy, rubbery goo. That's good, because the instructions are very vague as to how to apply it. You just sort of stick it in there.So it's good that the lava has some body, and it can actually be manipulated pretty intricately if you have good fine-motor skills. However, we were unable to recreate the designs shown on the box, especially the faces. So the elephant, for instance, turns out to be a big, blue blob. But that suited my 6 year old just fine.Unfortunately, we must have missed the part in the instructions about letting it "dry" overnight before displaying the animals upright in their holder. We put them in the holder after they were finished decorating them, and when we woke up the next morning, nearly every bit of lava had oozed down into the holder and all over the table, laying bare the mesh armatures. We'll try it again, this time letting them dry, but I suspect that the lava will still be a slave to gravity and pool in the back of the form (and the paper on which it will sit), not stay on top and look all solid colored and happy, again, like on the box's picture.So this can be a fun toy, but beware that the picture on the box has absolutely nothing to do with the final product. Additionally, the lava was easy enough to get off of little hands, but if it gets in clothes, it's a pain to remove.

Not sure if we just got some old lava or what but this stuff was horrible!!!! It was basically a clear glob of watered down glue and all the glitter was clustered at the bottom of the glob. We attempted to pick glitter off and put it into the safari animals and it basically looked like we rubbed glitter onto plastic mesh. Once my kids finished trying to be creative this went straight into the trash. Don't waste your money.

I purchased this at a local craft store and I have to let you know that this product exceeded my expectations. To begin with, I bought this for my four year old son whose attention span is not the longest.It was very easy to set up and I was then able to instruct my son what to do and VIOLA! It was amazing! He was able to do everything all by himself and create some very neat animals and it kept him entertained for a long time! I actually tried it with him when he first started and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Next time I may get a kit for myself as well! All the kids have to do is press a glitter putty onto mesh animals and then let it sit overnight to dry. You can mix and match colors and the possibilities are endless.The best part is that once you let the "putty" dry over night, they use the animals to play with and it has a base that they can put them in. He plays with it every day and his 2 year old sister loves it as well.Another great bonus point, NO MESS! It was great!I LOVED this product and we WILL be getting more of them. It was just great to find a craft that my son could do by himself with no help from me. THANK YOU!!!!!

It is funny that the description says "mess-free," because this goo is all about making a mess. It is a lot like trying to make a craft with plastic wrap since it sticks everywhere except where you want it to stick. There is no way to make the nicely decorated animals on the box.On the plus side, the glitter snot is sparkly & the animals & other parts look like they'll last awhile.
