The system works as described, but has two major flaws
The idea of the Findster approach is to do without the mobile phone connection used by rival products such as Tractive, thus avoiding subscription charges and possible 'black spots' where mobile coverage is poor.A nice idea BUT - and it's two relatively big 'buts':-1. You have to be CLOSE TO YOUR DOG to switch on active tracking - so if active tracking isn't on, you open the door to take a parcel from the postman, and your dog makes a dash for it YOU CANNOT USE FINDSTER TO LOCATE YOUR DOG, because by the time you've realised he/she is gone and grabbed your phone, he/she is already too far away to switch active tracking on and2. The battery life of the unit is not long enough to leave active tracking on all day.So basically, to track your dog, you have to ANTICIPATE that you might need to do so and set the unit to active tracking WHILE THE DOG IS STILL WITH YOU.So - you set to active tracking before you take the dog for a walk, and it it runs off ypu can locate it, but if its disappearance is NOT anticipated Findster is no ruddy use at all.

It doesnt stay on?!
Ok, so its the 3rd day that i put this on my cat before he goes out and after i had it charged. I connect to the app to confirm everything is on and working fine before i let him go out, and shows everything is on and with full battery. As soon as he goes out of the door, after couple of minutes i go check the app to see where he is heading and shows his device is off?!! Im so upset. im going to return this. I gave it a try for 3 days and this keeps happening for no reason at all. Meaning this was a pricey device that has no use at all!!!

Big flaws and really needs sorting
So, firstly, support is zero with no way of contacting findster other than feedback through the appfirst problem is this can only be paired to one phone. So no other family members can walk the dog without my phone or going through the painful process of rebooting to factory defaults and repairing...this is a massive problem with no work around and no way to ask for helpAs with others, the radar is useless, alwasy behind or to the side at 1m or 20 metresThe dog unit keeps disconnecting ( do some research) usually my dog is around 10m from me on our walks, she is a puppy and if she gets a scent she can head off into the woods, not far bit maybe 20 to 30 metres and the device then disconnects. In principal, this should work, in practice, it does not. I am techy and have no problem resetting, ensuring devices are up to date etc etc and this device does not work its as simple as that. Maybe if you are in an open field with no clouds, you may stay connected, but anything else is a no....do not risk losing your dog, do not buy .

I'm absolutely loving this!
I've used the tracker a couple of times since I got it and I'm already a fan, it's fun to see my pup move in real time on the map when we go to the dog park! It's a good way to keep up with her adventures and make sure she doesn't stay too far.

Costumer service is excellent!
I kept losing my two pups as they were chasing muntjac deers. And this is where the Findster comes into its own as I’m able to track them both in real-time alleviating any anxiety that they’ve gone near a road.If in a very wooded area it becomes more difficult to track them but this maybe because they’re only small dogs and the trackers are very close to the ground and so it loses the signal. One of the trackers came away from the collar and I was unable to get it because it was in scrub and at the bottom of a ditch. Customer service replaced the tracker within the week which was excellent!Anxiety gone. Thanks Findster.

Great Tracker
I bought this tracker as it didn't require anything else once purchased . I found it very easy to set up . The only downside for me is one dog i have is very small & i have to put the tracker on her harness as its quite big on her ,but as she is the one that runs ahead of us & out of site i now know where she is ! The only thing i have to remember is to put the live tracking on in the app once we get out of the car or it tracks the journey too ! Great activity tracker although i don't use in the day as its too big as i said earlier. However i bought it for peace of mind so i can enjoy walking both of my dogs .

Provides security and wroks well
Just what I was looking for - allows me to let the dog wander, knowing that I can locate her if she gets lost on her return. Has worked 100% of the time in woods, built my own collar for it so I don't need to attach it to her collar and can hang free. Cost more than some others but well worth the piece of mind and freedom it gives the dog

Great Stuff
As far as GPS trackers go this is one of the best I've ever tried (and I mean GPS trackers in general, not only pet trackers)! Not having a monthly fee makes it also the most affordable one. Location is very precise and it comes bundled with a ton of features for the activity monitor. I already had one I bought from their site, and now got another for my sister's poodle.

My main critic point is that I think that the Findster is more suitable for dogs but not for cats. When one walks a dog the person is most of the time quite close to the dog, but this is not the case for cats. It's understandable that the connection gets lost when I'm too far away from my cat. For example, yesterday I let my cat out, started the tracking and went away for a tour. I was quite far away so the connection broke down, which is understandable. But I dont understand that once the connection gets lost, the Findster doesnt try to reconnect when I'm returning home. So yesterday I've returned home and the Findster still said the connection is lost and that I have to get closer to my cat to reconnection, which makes no sense to me. So that was it and I had no idea where my cat was. Luckily my cat returned on her own.Unfortunately she lost her Findster, it's also quite unfortunate that the Findster doesnt have finding function. I believe that it's laying somewhere close in some bushes but I cannot find it cause the connection is just lost cause I went too far away from home yesterday. I guess you cannot help me regarding this issue cause it's also kind of my fault that I went away from home yesterday or that my cat lost the Findster, still I'm quite disappointed that it happened after less than a week and that I have no possibility to find it, although it's a gps tracker.

Absolutely Useless
Why anyone would buy this item is beyond me. The main reason we are looking for a pet gps is to be able to track our animals at home while we are at work or away from the house. If you just want to track your pets activity you might as well strap your old apple watch to it, otherwise, there are no other useful features in this product. Gps accuracy is god awful and it is a large unit. Here is a novel idea, if your pet is prone to taking off on you during walks, put a leash on them. I personally don't see any use for this product at this price range.

Not good at Cottage
I bought it for my dog at the cottage. Unless you have unlimited WiFi, it will eat through a month of data in 1 day. Also, the base would constantly drop the signal to the collar. Real time was not very quick or accurate.

Awesome tracker
Great tracker, love the no fees. The tracker is pretty accurate and easy to use. Battery is good and lasts a reasonable amount of time.Worth the price

Battery charge length not as advertised.
Battery life only 5-6hrs on the Pet module, NOT 12 as advertised. Not recommended for cats if they roam too long.Does not charge/attach to charger unit well, have to attach/reattach multiple times for every charge.Customer service great, exchanged my first unit due battery life short. Second unit, same issue. Maximum 5-6hrs / charge.

Knowing where my dog is when she goes out of my sight line on our walk
I love that I know where my dog is on our walks. She is a hunting breed and tends to follow her nose so I bought this to keep track of where she goes.

No user fees
No extra fees and easy to use. Best purchase I've made on Amazon so far.

Not great for locator for run away dogs
Did not work when I needed it the most! More like a Fitbit for dogs versus a locator

So far this is a great product with one downfall.
I love this. I don't have to pay monthly fees to a cell phone company, but because of that I have to carry the little pocket locator for the human to wear so it can talk to the dog locators. (Phone talks to human locator via bluetooth, human locator talks to dog locators over a radio signal) When close by the dog locators talk to the phone via bluetooth as well. The one downfall, is that the magnetic charging connector, doesn't always make connection, so when you go to grab them and put them on your pets, you find out that one or more did not charge the night before. Just make sure they are charging or you might be surprised when you go to use them.

Good customer service
UPDATE: customer service has been very helpful in replacing units and troubleshooting. I have been very busy and they have been following up and working with me to see if we can figure out what was going on.Old review: Disappointed. Every time I’ve ever looked at this it’s disconnected with no support on why or how to reconnect the guardian. There should be clickable suggestions on what to do when it drops. The second it’s disconnected I should be notified instead of when I’m trying to use it

Zero customer service
Products works very much as advertised except for the power saving mode to extend battery life does not seem to work properly. I tried to contact customer support to ask for help or at least make them aware of the problem, but it was an absolute exercise in futility. No contact phone number, no email address, no posting of questions/complaints on their website.UPDATE: Customer support contacts me. It turns out you do all support issues online via the Findster app. Customer support is good via the app, but the issue of short battery life makes this product less than useful than it could be.

I'm concerned that my pet modules turn off during the day
I purchased 3 pet modules for my 3 dogs. I ultimately decided on this product as it will allow me to track all 3 dogs and I don't have to pay a regular subscription fee. However, I'm not super impressed with it up to this point. First off the amount of notifications I was receiving in a 10 minute span was about to drive me crazy - notifications for a gold medal for achieving a walking goal, notifications for congratulations on setting up a virtual fence, notifications when my phone was in my pocket & I left the guardian on the countertop and I got too far away, notifications when my guardian was back in range of my phone, notifications when my dog was outside of the virtual fence, notifications when my dog was back inside the virtual fence, etc... so I turned off all notifications. I like to keep on my live tracking as that's why I purchased the devices, to track my pet's location. This does significantly wear down my battery but I pretty much charge the pet modules about every other day which I really don't mind. The big problem I'm having is I'll turn on the pet modules once charged, attach them back to the collar, and by the time we go outside for a potty break (anywhere from 2 to 4 hours later) all 3 pet modules are showing as "turned off" in my app. This is a huge concern as I'm worried if my pet does wander off, will the pet module turn off on its own before I can find him?

High Priced, Querky and Battery Issues - If Improved... Maybe The Next Version.
I used the 3 pack for our 3 dogs. Initially, the units seemed good and we were excited. Within weeks, the batteries on the Main FOB and collars for the dogs varied too great. Connections dropped, too often to count on and when disconnected, took too long to reconnect (and not battery related). Then they were not useful. Software updates did not install consistently and this increase negatively impacted the quality ans usage. Maybe the next version will be better, fixed? Time will tell.
