The Essential Commandment: A Disciple's Guide to Loving God and Others (The Essentials Set)

This is the best bible study I've had the privilege of leading in many years. I've used it with 4 different groups and only had very positive feedback. If you really want to grow in love for God and others, this study will help.

I decided to purchase this book to go through with my girlfriend, and it has turned out to be a great decision. I have previously read through Greg Ogden's Discipleship Essentials (which I also recommend), so I knew that this book was going to be pretty good.The chapters are set up with a theme which leads into a core truth, a memory verse, an inductive bible study portion, and a reading. Everything really goes together well, and it is really a great instrument to be used by yourself, in a small group, or with your significant other.

This is an amazing course, one that is biblical, gets the participants deeply into God's Word and then provides encouragement for application. Greg Ogden has produced two courses that have made a huge difference in the spiritual growth of our church members; this one and his Discipleship Essentials. His approach is very Reformed, interactive, and stimulating. I highly recommend this for any church that takes the Bible seriously as God's inspired and authoritative Word to us and the all sufficient rule for faith and life. Greg unpacks scripture in a life-transforming way.

Great series of books from this author that my are God inspired and easy to understand and generally done in a group setting , you can not go wrong with this author and this series of books for Christian learning with bible scriptures

The book is excellent if you want to use it for personal or group study of the Bible and its application to your life. If you want to simply read a book for subsequent discussion in one setting, it doesn't work well. It's well written and scholarly.

Just starting it, but am excited to receive the discipleship training it offers. Our whole church has offered it to groups of 3 people so we can all be vulnerable and accountable as we learn together. Can't wait to see where it takes us...

This is best read with a group that will challenge the reader to explore the questions and live the answers

This is a good book on the Christian basics - what God requires of each disciple. Well thought out and practical. Good to be used for group discussions and within cell context.
