AWESOME huge improvement
So glad for the people who stepped up and defended this product! I am pushing 70 and the old ladder into my 48' x 18' round intex pool I put up every summer for me, my grandson and my cousin is getting a little harder every summer! Decided we needed something a little easier for the 2 older kids! :-) I put it together mostly by myself, a little muscle from my neighbor when putting the steps in and help lifting it in the pool. I did not fill it with gravel as I need to take it out every fall. Instead I stole a few hack ideas from others I filled two jugs with pea gravel and tied them to the pool side and set them behind the steps and I also drilled a small extra hole and zipped tied the platform at the top to the pool. PERFECT nice and steady I am overweight and it it is perfect! My grandson is very autistic and hates change but this was one change he really welcomed.. I haven't put the gate on yet but will when it cools down tonight.

I have a pimp limp now.
If you like peace, your sanity, the integrityof your bones and joints, or enjoying your time off do not purchase these stairs. Spend the extra few hundred on a more upgraded set.I purchased these about 2 weeks ago as a ladder isn't really reasonable for me anymore.I was off Tuesday and Thursday. It took me 3 hours on Tuesday to put one side of the steps together. And 2 hours on Thursday to do the other. Then another 2 hours today to finish it with the graven, rails, etc.I had to use my whole body to bend the risers, which coms a one flat piece you bend yourself. I was using the fence for leverage to hold things in place. I was screaming, making animalistic noises to where the neighbors called out to check out me.I hadn't gotten to even go in the pool for a week because this set up stole all my free time! Finally I got in today. Sweet, sweet relaxation. I got in with no issue, all was peachy keen.Getting out though. That was the ride of my life.First riser...POP...okay okay maybe is just settling in. Thats all. Its fine.Second riser..POP POP POP.... okay this is bad..just got out just get out just get out....Im puppy walking at this pointTHUNK.The whole thing done came apart on me.The little knobs holding the risers in bents and came out and some even deflated. My arms, leg, foot, and chest are bruised. My ankle hurts and I have a real nice pimp limp.0/10.

Just what I needed!
This ladder is just what I needed! I was concerned due to some of the reviews, but I'm very satisfied with this. Putting it together wasn't that complicated, you just had to follow the instructions. If you step on the textured part of the steps, it feels sturdy enough. If you step in the middle which isn't textured, it feels like it gives a little, but that's not the proper way to use these, especially if you have wet feet, the texture is there for a reason. Getting out of the pool and managing the gate at the same time isn't all that easy, but it's worth it to me for it's safety features. I like the way the gate stays closed and there's a way to place a lock on the latch. It won't hold up to someone determined to break it open, but since my main concern is keeping out unsupervised youngsters and pets, I feel comfortable with that safety feature. You will need to add sand or gravel as instructed, it definitely helps with the stability. I'm very happy with these stairs!

pricy, initially disappointed, but used for many years.
My pool came with a deck mount ladder. We have not extended our deck toward the pool so needed an "A" frame ladder. Ideally stairs would be the best but trying to save a few dollars, and swimable area, I purchased this ladder. After much research, 2 seasons, I thought this ladder would offer great stability and security both for my little ones who constantly jump off the steps into the pool as well as for their large daddy. I especially liked the lockable door. Well I'm probably not going to even open the box and return it right away. My local pool store happened to have it on display today, albeit for over $500, and I was truly disappointed. The hand rails offer no security whatsoever. They are screwed onto the steps through three THIN and VERY BENDABLE pieces of plastic. The handrails on top of the ladder at the platform are very wobbly. Scary concept for active children leaning on or adults needing any support while turning on the platform. It was shockingly flimsy. The traction is just a few raised lines of resin on each step and platform. Also the width verses angle of stairs makes it feel like a steep climb. I agree with the reviewer who stated the door will close should there be a breeze. It is designed to self close. A great idea, but practical, NOT. The door doesn't open wide enough to allow full use of the stairs and its kind of in the way. I asked about where one would put rocks to weight the ladder, but the newer ones are water weighted as per the salesman. Overall, I would rate this 2 stars and that is just for the concept, not the craftmanship.Update: I kept it. Installed it yesterday. Its very stable in the pool but definitely add at least 50 pounds of rock. I used mini marble chips washed well. I also widened the pre drilled water holes slightly with drill bit. Adding rocks was the most time consuming of the assembly. Hint, I cut bottom of a milk container to make funnel. Then jiggled ladder to help them pour better. Worked perfectly. I haven't changed my mind about the upper handrails at the platform and the design of the gate, but the width was fine for my large husband to use. Upped raiting to 3 stars.Update.We ended up having this pool ladder for many years. We eventually moved, disassembled the pool and sold it, ladder included. It held up for many years, solid and still looked good. When i closed pool, i removed ladder and drained it, but was still stored outside. I did have to make sure screws were tight 1-2 times each summer. As for the safety door, I ended up rigging it at the hinges with HD tie wraps, instead of the manufacturer's hinges, so it would open fully. I just locked it with a chain and lock until I knew the kids wouldn't swim if unattended. It remained steep to climb out and a couple times we slipped down. Live and learn. The design allowed maximum use of swim area which was important to me. I power washed it every pool opening and It held up for many years.
