DYMO Digital Postal Scale/Shipping Scale, 10-Pound (1772057)

I love this shipping scale. I use it all the time for my small business, and it works perfectly. I have never had a complaint from a customer or the USPS. The scale seems to be very accurate. The scale is extremely easy to use and is a great value for the money. If you are looking for a good, cheap, and easy-to-use scale, I recommend this one.

I use this in the kitchen. It has instant read and very accurate.

It does what it should, but I couldn't believe how easy it was to use. Once I plugged it in, it installed itself pretty fast. I opened my Stamps program and looked for a way to make it work, then I noticed a weigh button in the postage list. You click that button once you already have you item on the scale, and it quickly displays the weight, which matched what the scale said, then displayed all the shipping methods and the postage cost for each based on the weight. If you click the one you want,it will then prompt you to print the postage. It is well made, it takes two AA batteries, but also gets its power from USB when it is connected to your computer. It has a tare feature, this is used to zero the display when there is already weight on the scale. You could use it to measure things that need to go into something like a cup, or a box, like liquid or powder. Put the empty container on the scale, then press tare to zero it out, now fill it and get the weight of what is in the box. It can switch from pounds to kilograms just as easily. It has a Hold button to help you weigh things that block the display. Weigh it, push Hold, then remove the item and you have 10 seconds to see it's weight before it clears. It measure ~ 8" x 9" x 1.75"

This scale is a workhorse for my online business. I've been using it almost every day for about 5 years, and it has consistently matched the weight at the post office window clerk's scale. The surface of the power button cracked several years ago, but it has not affected the performance of the scale one bit. In addition to my home based business, I sometimes take it to the kitchen to measure recipe ingredients. The tare function allows me to put my bowl on the scale, zero out the scale with the Tare button, and the easily measure my ingredients. The display is not backlit, but in natural daylight or evening lighting, the weight is not difficult to read. In terms of speed, the unit powers on in a little more than 1 second. The weight displays immediately as you place your item on the scale.

If you need integration with a scale this is the best scale for the money but it has one huge fatal flaw. It shuts off very quickly when not in use. The larger Dymo's have a way to have them not shut off automatically but every time you power up the scale you have to enter the button sequence to activate this feature. This scale does not have the ability. I have the larger scale as well, the 100lb version. There is no way that anyone with product feature decision making ability has ever used this scale in a commercial environment. Having to turn the thing on every time you use it because it has shut off during the time you boxed up the next shipment is absolutely stupid. It is a cheap scale i get that but the flaw that it has is not related to the cost it is related to bad decision making. I just timed it. It shuts off in 3 minutes. I could see 30 minutes or maybe 10 minutes but 3 minutes.

I bought this scale with the idea of pairing it with the Dymo turbo label writer. While I haven't purchased the later yet, the scale works fine on its on. When you connect to a computer and download the free Dymo weight scale program it gives you the cost for most letters to be mailed in the US. I haven't been disappointed in the scale, but thought the Dymo program that I downloaded from the web site could be more user friendly. If you want to make sure you are sending a letter out with the correct postage and know the maximum weight for a first class letter, you really don't have to connect to the Dymo site to use their scale. However, I believe most users would prefer to connect to the free program to keep up to date with rate increases and changes in the postal rules. I could also see this being used for weighting items like food for those that want to make sure they are following a recipe or weight loss program they are on. The ability to place an object and then "0" out that weight as you add items to the object can have some great uses.

I got this scale because it connected to my Endicia online postal system (developed by Dymo) and my Dymo 450 TwinTurbo label printer. I needed to purchase another scale for my home office because my other USB powered Dymo scale went out after 7 years of use. Well, this one has turned out to be a pain in the Tuchus (Tuchis or Tuckus). I used the USB cable that came with it and the second I turned it on it went into sleep mode and would not turn back on. I was having to unplug the USB cable from the unit five to six times before it decided to stay on. Then it began to take even longer to unplug and plug back in to get it to work. I had tried 3 different cables, but to little avail. I googled the problem and was led onto the Dymo troubleshooting page where it was suggested that the USB cable be disconnected and try using batteries instead. I unplugged the USB cable and put in 3 AAA batteries, so far, so good - It now turns on and stays on, BUT it doesn't resolve why I was having USB issues to begin with and now this scale is not connected to my computer so I have to go through extra steps to use Endicia and now I have to worry about how fast I will go through batteries, when the whole reason for the purchase was to use a USB cable and not have to worry about batteries. As for accuracy, other than the USB issue, this scale has been spot on. So far, it has weighed all my mail accurately - from letters to 8 pound packages. When I take my items to the Post Office and they weigh them they always tell me that the weight is spot on.

Good scale, easy to use Good value

I have the unit hooked up by USB or data and power. The unit operates exactly as expected. So physically the device is fine. I would like to see better software provided by DYMO it is very limited in functionality. Basically just displaying the weight of the last item on your screen. No ability for a log of items scanned. It would be very much appreciated if postal billing printing software was provided with the unit that was compatible with other label making devices outside of the DYMO product line. However the scale does do the basic job sufficiently well.

The scale works like a charm, accessing its usb data wasn't so easy. I spent a couple hours poking around with python (admittedly, I'm no expert), it'll have to wait for some rainy day when I'll have more time to spend on the project. Also, for people planning to use the DYMO labelling software, it works only with DYMO printers, so people with Brother label printers like me, you're out of luck!

Excellent condition & quality

I'm happy with this purchase. I was hoping that it would give me the postal rates, but it doesn't. According to what it says on the DYMO site, that option is not available for this model. But it's fine, I can still use it to weight the items I will be using it for and get the postal rates online.

Simple to use, very accurate repeatable measurements. Great value for the dollar
