Inspired by the Little Things - Mixed Media Paintings & Stories

Truly disappointed in this book. This is a beautiful book but it was not what I expected or wanted. It is basically a gallery book of her work. Her work is gorgeous but if you want to know how she does it, you will need to look elsewhere. Had I seen it in the store, I would not have purchased it. As it is, I am returning it.

I just received this book and find the artwork beautiful, although, very similar in it's context without enough variation in representation. However, the most disappointing part is that I just spend $25 on a gallery of work - a lot of what I can see online. I expected there to be suggestions or guidance in how the artwork might be started, or some kind of tutorial. The classes on the artist's website are expensive and I had considered signing up for one, but that notion has quickly decline because I see this more as a source of revenue rather than the love of art that an artist would like to share. I get that an artist needs to make a living, but this is better suited in a gallery showing rather than me spending money for a book that gives me nothing. I just spent $25 (expensive)on a gallery showing and leave with, yes, those are nice.This also appears to be an unedited vanity publication. I believe an editor would have added more focus and direction for the book and and what it offers the consumer. All this being said, I think her artwork is interesting which is why I bought the book in the first place.

Like many reviewers, I would really have liked to have some technique/instruction in this book, but I knew going into the purchase that it didn't have any. I just love Juliette Crane's work so much that I knew I would enjoy looking at a print gallery of her work, and I have. Once you've taken a few of her classes, you can look at the illustrations in this book and see how she achieved certain effects. I hope she will publish another book in the near future - a teaching book with project step-outs!

As stated clearly in the description above, this book is NOT an instructional book.It is a gallery of Juliette Crane's work. It is a lovely book featuring her art. If you like her art, you should enjoy this book.

This is so beautiful, the gallery of her art. Although, it is all very similar, each painting look similar to the next. When I first got it, I spent quite a bit of time (maybe an hour) looking at each page and enjoying the art. I do feel inspired, but if I had flipped through it in a book store, I wouldn't have bought it. I will probably not open the book again (I'm considering returning it as $24 is a lot for this). I'm more interested in how-to and involved mixed media books right now.

What a great inspiring book. I can't wait to get to my studio and go o work. Juliette Crane out did herself here. If you get a bit stuck now and then, you need this book.

Great book with an abundance of ideas.

J'adore ce livre, je ne me lasse pas de le regarder! Certes les mêmes thèmes reviennent mais avec des nuances qui,les rendent uniques. J'adore l'univers de Juliette Crane, j'adore sa technique artistique.Ce n'est pas un livre de pas à pas, c'est un livre pour rêver et s'inspirer.J'ai longtemps hésité à le commander car je le trouvais cher par rapport à d'autres livres du même type, mais je ne regrette absolument pas mon achat.
