I love this easy to find the answer book. I love the size of it too.

This is a wonderful resource tool for everyone from the beginner to the advanced crocheter. I have many of Ms. Edie Eckman's crochet books and find that, without exception, they are extremely well-written and the designs are top notch.I also own the first edition of this title. That book is about ten years old and I have used it all the time. I was provided a temporary digital advance reader copy of the new edition (by the publisher via Netgalley). Once I had gone through it, I knew that I would (and did) pre-order the hard copy to have on hand at all times. There was enough update to the book - new yarns and techniques - that getting the second edition made complete sense.I honestly have not had a crochet question come up which is not addressed in this answer book. The illustrations are not great but the information is definitely sufficient to work through my issues. This is not a pattern book; it is a resource book to find answers to issues you never even knew that you had. While reading through it, I had many "Aha!" moments when I realized that I had been doing something in a less than optimal way.Whether for yourself or as a gift for someone you know who crochets, this book is a perfect additional to the crocheters bookcase. Though that is a misstatement - it will never sit in my bookcase, it will stay in my bag with my latest project so that it is never more than an arm's reach away from me. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Very happy with this book

The reason I purchased this book (as well as A to Z of Crochet, The Ultimate Guide for the Beginner to Advanced Crocheter) was to renew my basic knowledge of this hobby. I had not crocheted in decades, & had forgotten pattern shorthand terms, certain stitches, & techniques. After reading reviews of several comprehensive books, these seemed to be the best choices based on price, ratings/reviews, & skill level [also the "look inside" Amazon peeks]. Both are valuable, but in different ways. The size of The Crochet Answer Book is very handy to tuck inside my crochet tote & doesn't take up much room on my lap; but it is slightly awkward to keep open to a specific page. The glued section at the Appendix has cracked open after just a few weeks. This book has clearly drawn illustrations (versus photographs in the other text) which are labeled in right & left handed options; the font is clear & easy to read, despite my nearsightedness! One of the reviewers commented about the Q & A format which makes it difficult to quickly find an answer. My take is that although this is a fat fact-filled tool, a 2nd reference is good to supplement or find what you are seeking. The author admits not "every problem/question" is tackled but she adds plenty of supplemental information & references including online sites. Overall, a purchase good for beginners & others wanting to advance their craft.

I literally use this book every time I need a crochet answer. I have used this to learn all of my basic crochet stitches and it is THE BOOK I use when I need an answer on a crochet-how-to. I have read and own many of its kind. This handy, small, and intelligent book has never failed me.No matter what my dilemma, I can find the answer in here. If you need a crochet reference book-this is the one to own. Like I said, I have spent hundreds on similar books. This is the one I keep nearby, and I refuse to ever get rid of. It has a great reference guide in the back. Illustrated examples of how to do things. Charts with symbols, pages with stitch instructions, row counting, gauges, tools, explanations of everything Crochet! A great gift idea for the novice or experienced crochet fan in your life.I would NOT KNOW HOW TO CROCHET if it were not for this book! Thank you thank you!

I haven't done any crochet for years so when I recently picked it up again I realized how much I had forgotten. Fortunately my daughter came to the rescue and lent me her Crochet Answer Book. I can honestly say that it has been invaluable; clear instructions and diagrams - simplicity itself and almost every problem you could think of is clearly answered or demonstrated by the line drawings. Once I had downloaded some conversion tables for the differences in US/UK crochet terms I was quickly up and running. This book has so inspired me that I am now taking on more adventurous and interesting projects.Unfortunately, my daughter won't part with her book for long (can't say I blame her) so I decided to buy my own. Having just acquired a new Kindle I decided to get the Kindle copy. The following are my observations. I thought I was taking a bit of a chance (no reviews to go on) but as it happens I needn't have worried. It was very easy to navigate around the book and the diagrams (mostly line drawings) were very clear. The only (slight) problem was that some of the labelling on the diagrams was a bit small and faint but increasing the text size solved that. I didn't really need to do it that often. All in all I think this book works quite well on Kindle. If it helps, I have a Paperwhite, not an older generation. I hope this review helps potential buyers who are thinking of getting a Kindle copy but are a little unsure of what to expect.
