Great beginners book with adorable pictures. It's a little outdated so some things need to be cross-referenced but overall very helpful.

when I saw the page where they reccomend a ball as a run toy for your chin I was like wtf... Chinchillas should NEVER be put in one of those balls. They can overheat and get there paws stuck yet alone if they get scared and cant get out!

The book has a lot info about where they came from but not enough info on how to care for them. I found out more info on the internet.

Great guide for new chilla parents

I have owned chinchillas for many years now and this is the best book that I have found. This author has put together a lot of helpful information with a little whimsy. From providing us basic knowledge of the chinchilla, to the need for exercise and proper feeding. A chinchilla is not like any pet that you will ever own and this book gets it right. It also provides a smile when you see all the great photographs that go along with the information. I love the one that has an Ebony Chinchilla and peeking out from underneath her is a little white chinchilla kit. I have had the pleasure of spending lots of time with my chinchillas and even traveling with them. I have a few chinchilla babies each year and I recommend this book to all my clients. It is well researched and a valuable resource.
