Way better than the reviews made them out to be!!!
Reviews play a huge part in my order. In fact, about 90% percent of my decision making when ordering online relies on the reviews of a product. I ordered these softbox lights regardless of people's poor reviews. & I am SO glad I did! This will be the longest review I've ever written, but some things need to be said about these lights!*First of all, people said that they need to be weighted down, that they tip easy. That is NOT true. I realized after having them up for 5 minutes, that you need to expand the legs as far as they can go & tighten the knob. I won't lie and say that was cake, because I had to push and pull them pretty hard! But they are not top heavy at all now. My 3 year old has been messing with them since I put them up and they are as stable as can be! No accidents and I honestly don't see any possible way these things could ever tip.*Second of all, people say they were hard to put together. They aren't. I had them both up in ten minutes. Go ahead and throw away the instructions, they are useless. It's simple.Let me explain-first you take out the light stands. Expand as hard as you can, as open as they will go && tighten the knobs! Then you're going to take out the foil soft box. Go ahead and put that over the light stand with the small square hole towards the floor. Then get your light piece (the one with the light bulbs go into) Unscrew the little knobs, take the little black cap off of the light stand top (and throw it away), put it on, screw it on so its stable. Boom. That's done. Then you're going to take your rods, put one on each side of the light piece top. Once that's done, pull up your foil box and put the rods in the little black Velcro pockets. Boom, it's secure.Do the same thing for the bottom two rods. Then screw in your light bulbs & attach your little white sheets. It really wasn't hard at all, I don't know what these people are talking about... There are even YouTube videos on how to assemble these haha, just go to YouTube and search the brand name!I will also add that this fabric is really durable! I was shocked, I was expecting like a thing plastic type material. So, now I'm sure you're wondering how the lighting looks. Well, AMAZING. I was expecting them to be this bright and this incredible. I already did a test for video and photo and it's just gorgeous. I will be using these lights for video purpose mainly. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Honestly, if you're thinking of buying these, just do it. They aren't what all these people said they were. They deserve more credit! I wish I wasn't so nervous about their arrival, cause they are so much more than I thought they'd be.Once I start making videos, I will do an updated review (if Amazon will let me) and I'll attach a link of my video for your reference. They really are gorgeous! That's the end of my rant. I'm not even going to mention the price because these exceed their cost! I personally feel they are up there with more expensive lighting.Xoxo

Good
I'd start off by saying this is a great price for studio lighting and the best deal I've found. I'm extremely happy with these for the price.THINGS TO KNOW:These come with all the necessary parts to build your two soft boxes, on two light stands with the 4 bulbs in each light set up. The only output adjustments are two light switches on the back of each unit allowing you to turn on and off 2 of the 4 bulbs. These bulbs are the smaller ones measuring about 4 and 1/2 inches in length and 2 inches thick. There is an adjustment knob on the back of each unit tilted "fuse" but I can't figure out if that has any function at all and there are no instructions on it. They are powered by standard wall sockets with a standard cord running from each unit. The build quality on all of these is moderate. It's not cheap but it's not professional either. The locks for size adjustment on the light stands aren't standard clip locks but twist locks. These light set ups are made for a studio set up and not for taking on the road. They are a hassle and a half to set up and it takes very long to break them down.Don't be deceived by the carrying bag you see in the picture. It's extremely cheap and doesn't have any compartments for storing any of the light or soft box parts. There are zero dividers inside, it literally is just a cheap black bag. You basically have to keep all the packing material and boxes that they come in and re-pack the bulbs and parts every time you put it away. For the price and for my usage I can't complain at all. I'm very happy with the light output and the price. It hasn't' given me any problems yet and I don't for see it ever giving me problems.

Great lights for the price
Not the best lights. The stands are flimsy and the are not super bright. But for the price, they are great. They are solid enough to use. The lights are bright enough to make close up videos on F-stop 9.0.If you are beginning to make YouTube videos, these are a great investment. They'll make your videos look better and won't break the bank. You'll mostly likely upgrade in a year if your channel is successful and starts to make money. But for now, stick with these.

Difficult assembly overshadows light
Despite the low price and nice light. These are a nightmare to put together. Every time I take them down I swear I'll never use them again. I'm not sure who invented the posts that won't stay in as you're trying to stretch over the soft box, but it's awkward and almost impossible to put together.

Good quality and value for home studio
I was very happy with this purchase. I use it self tape auditions and other projects.Great value and they work well. The setup instructions were not very clear, but I was able to find a you tube video and had this together in fifteen minutes! These are great if you plan on leaving them set up in a room.

Sturdy product, easy setup, good light output.
I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I ordered something similar in the past and was dissapointed, but this is much better. I cant understand all of the bellyaching over assembly. It is not hard at all. Check out youtube for a good video. It only took me about twenty minutes to unpack and set up both of the soft boxes. Pretty durable for what it is and the price you pay. As with any equipment, just take care of it and I can see these lasting a long time. No, the carry bag is not something you could take backpacking, but for moving from shoot to shoot, it should do just fine. I do tintypes and require a lot of light for exposure. I am using them without the diffusers and they work well for my needs. These are small soft boxes as stated in the description (16x24), so keep that in mind. Also consider that with smaller boxes there will be less light scatter so the light can be directed better. The lights are just fine and the heads can accept higher watt bulbs if need be. I will be ordering more of these in the future for sure.
