5 years later and still busting cops on the streets
Just for the heck of it I started reading some of the reviews and I was surprised.I bought this model 4 years ago and today and many many miles behind me, this radar detector is solid. Still working and I have upgraded to a new bike and I made sure the radar detector came with me. This little puppy will pick up a cop miles, yes miles before ithe cop detects you. Early warning early detection save your butt from getting tickets. You will experience a few false alarms but not many in my case. I also have a red line radar detector in my car which cost substantially more than this unit. There is not much difference. You get to know where the false alarms are especially if you drive to and from work everyday. At the same place on the motorcycle or in my car or false alarm will go off so you pretty much know what's a false alarm and what's not. The big buttons makes it easy to navigate with your gloves the fluorescent blue screen makes it easy to see at night and during the day. The red LED alert light is fantastic! It works in the daylight and on the sunniest day and also it's perfect for night. With the LED light It is also an indicator to alert you of a radar in the area.I've been on many many motorcycle trips and this unit has saved me a lot of money from getting tickets. It's not that I'm a wild man on my two wheels it's just sometimes when you pass through these little towns they can go from 55 to 30 mph in a heartbeat and that's where they get you.I keep a ziplock bag in my gear just in case it should rain I know this unit is waterproof but I always like to put it in a ziplock bag just to keep it safe and dry.Upon installation I had questions I called the company they would qwick to respond and fast to answer my questions. I would not consider going on a road trip on my motorcycle without this little unit. It's been with me for over four years and thousands and thousands of miles later it's still with me and I plan to keep it as long as it will keep me safe.I am pretty tough when it comes to recommending products or any rating system. after I read some of the negative comments on this unit I was compell to share my story. This is one of those purchases that I have never regretted and I look forward to it being a companion with me When I'm on the road taking trips. You're in a car or truck You may not speed but it's a sense of security In the sense of knowledge we know where a talk would be shooting radar behind a billboard or on a side street or wherever they like to hide it's good to know that you know where they are before they know where you are. Knowledge and information you can never get too much of it.This is a great product I wholeheartedly recommended and you two will be talking about the many miles traveled with your radar detector.

A very solid product with amazing customer service.
After getting two tickets in 3 months on my bike, I finally decided to get a radar detector. However, most of thrones I was looking at, weren’t really made for use for life on two wheels. I finally came across the TPX radar detector, and decided to give it a shot, despite few the mediocre reviews, and I have to say that I was completely satisfied with this product. That is, until recently, where the thing finally broke on me. And now I am EXTREMELY happy I went with Adaptiv’s radar detector instead of some other one. Let me explain.Over the course of a year, my TPX took a couple falls from where it was mounted on the bike. All user error on my part. I pair this with a Ram mount, specifically, the X-Grip Ram mount, and occasionally, I didn’t secure my TPX before riding off. Once or twice, maybe three times, it fell when it wasn’t plugged in, and ended up sliding off the tank, and on to the concrete. Once while moving a slow speeds. With most electronics, this would put it out of commission. But my TPX kept on ticking, until one too many falls and it finally died.I reached out to Adaptiv, and I told them the story like it was. No lies. I told them it fell a couple times off the bike, it’s totally beaten up, and no longer turns on. Initially they said it would cost $75, which I would have been ok with paying, considering this was 100% accidental damage and user error on my part. However after a few more emails back and forth, they checked out my serial number and it they informed it was still under warranty (really? Their warranty covers user stupidity? yay!) and told me to send it in and that it would be fixed for FREE! Awesome! No complaints here! I saved $75!After a couple weeks, I got the unit back, and it was basically a brand new unit. Well, as far as the exterior looks goes. It was probably refurbished, but either way, still awesome. Well it turns out that my wiring harness got wet at some point during this time, and corroded the ends. So I yet again reached out to their customer service, expecting to pay for a replacement wiring harness due to water damage. And yet again, they completely surprised me saying it was still under warranty, and they would cover replacement free of charge. Seriously?! This level of customer service is bar none! Awesome! Thanks Adaptiv Team. You guys are freakin awesome! As for usage: this thing is quite sensitive. I get alerts from very far away and for sure it’s saved my butt at least 3 times that I know of in the last 2 years that I’ve had it. It’s survived every heavy downpour that both California and New York has thrown at me.I will say though that, this thing would be pretty useless if it weren’t for the visual alert add-on. It’s hard to hear when you’re at speed on the freeway. Not because it isn’t loud…it’s plenty loud. It just has stiff competition when you take in to consideration road noise, wind noise, and music playing through headphones. The Visual Alert LED is red, and has a long cord on it, so you can wire it anywhere on your bike. I have mine mounted right above my gauge cluster between my windscreen and the gauges. I do have to adjust the way i wear my helmet, otherwise the LED’s wouldn’t be visible, but I attribute that more to the fact that I’m on a sport bike, an leaned over forward pretty far enough as it is.Pros-Water Proof-Easily installed on any bike-Small size-Sensitive to radar/laser-Amazing Customer Service-Great warranty service-big buttons for easy use-Quick to unmount and remount-Easy to read Display-Paired with the Visual Alert, this is hands-down a great purchaseCons-Wish it had a way to remember locations and identify certain spots as false alarms.
