Hen Saver Hen Apron/Saddle, Double Strap, Fixed Shoulder Protector, Large, Black

Our chickens are Houdini chickens and can get out of most any jacket in under thirty seconds…. But not this one, it stays on! Perfect

Thought this would help stop hens from pecking at my 2 badly pecked Auracana's but the apron doesn't fit right at all. Nicely made, and good quality but it doesn't cover the back just before the tail where there is a serious raw and bare area. The apron slides off as she tries to get loose of it! Even if she didn't the thing sits sideways completely off of her back. Had it on correctly, didn't make a difference. I would add another elastic strap on the back to hold it in place where it needs to be, but not sure it would stay where needed. Very disappointed! Next step, nipping the point off all beaks with a dog nail clipper!!

4 stars because it is a well made product. Our issue was that it was so small I think it is for very small breeds or very young hens.

I ordered this on Saturday afternoon, I have recently adopted a hen with a very beat up back/shoulders and was looking for something to help prevent the others and herself from pecking her wounds while the feathers grow back. I was shocked and happy to see that it arrived early this afternoon even though I only paid for regular shipping! The Hen Saver was quick and easy to put on my hen and she got used to it very quickly.

The material is very sturdy but the design is not long enough to cover the back of a standard hen...it would also be better if the wing covers came off as they are rubbing on my gerties wings and has rubbed all the feathers off. I unfortunately bought two of these and will not buy any more with this design.

It's a good idea, but it always slides off to one side...not thrilled with the product. Maybe my chicken just has a slouchy shoulder, but I doubt it.

One of my hens was being pecked raw on the shoulders and back after the rooster had damaged those areas during mating. She was bullied and failing to thrive. Now that the other hens can't see the red skin patches they leave her alone. This super durable and easy to put on jacket has allowed feathers to begin growing back and now she is part of the flock again.

Its nice but the rooster thought that it was something attacking the chicken that had the saver apron on, so he and the other chooks attacked the saver apron. In order to save the chicken from her inmates I had to take the saver apron off. No good for community chickens, but perhaps would be good if one is to isolate the chicken needing saver apron
