Great Product Two Years Later
I have used two of these lens hoods, one for a 15-45mm kit lens, and one for a 55-200mm lens. After two years of regular use, both hoods and both caps still work great. The lens caps are tethered which is an essential feature for photographing sports or nature. I highly recommend this product.

Pretty good hoods
I just got this set so this is a first impression. I think this is a good value and a clever kit. I just bought a used Nikon 28-200 zoom lens which came with the correct Nikon lens hood, (HB-12) which is huge. It makes the lens look like a trumpet. And I don't think it is effective at shading the lens, too shallow and wide. Rather than protect t, I think it makes the lens easier to damage. To be clear, this set consists of two hoods, one tulip solid plastic hood and a collapsable two position rubber hood. Not meant for use at the same time. I always like rubber hoods for the protection they give even when retracted. This one does vignette at full wide angle but is fine at the half position. Adjusting it is an extra step if you are busy shooting but the vignette isn't that bad if you forget. The tulip hood is solid plastic and cleverly designed. An inner ring screws into the lens. The hood snaps in place using sprung ball bearings. Of course, the hood is free to rotate, and it takes some attention to keep in position. Not so bad, but it is a down side. Yes, it is reversible. The Nikon lens cap that came with my lens sits too deep in the ring to reach the release buttons on its sides, but the one in this kit has recessed release finger pinches on the front, just right for the lens hoods. This is a pretty detailed review considering I haven't taken a single photo with it yet. I'll revise it if I find I missed anything. Given the price, I am not disappointed.

Pretty good value
Good value for the two lens hoods, cap with tether and cleaning cloth. I purchased the 72mm package. The only reason a star was docked is that the tether elastic to go around the lens was not large enough for the 72mm. The joiner split from the elastic and is no longer tight in the lens. Luckily the hood holds it on. The tether is almost too short to fit around the lens hood.

Great product and great company. A lens hood kit worth buying.
I purchased the 55mm and 58mm lens hoods and I am really impressed with these kits. They appear to be well constructed and are easy to use. A feature that I find really beneficial, is the ability to change the tulip lens hoods from front facing (taking pictures) to rear facing (storage) without having to unscrew the mounting ring. The hood is constructed so that it snaps on and off the mounting ring. When mounted, it is on securely, but switching is very easy. This is helpful in reducing the chances of cross threading by having to unscrew the hood each time you want to switch functions. I also like the fact that the hoods can be used with the provided lens cap. The lens hood kits are a real value when it comes to the quality and cost. I am glad that I purchased them. The 58mm collapsible hood that I received did not have the proper threading to mount it to the lens. When I contacted Veatree, they were quick to respond. They stand behind their product and are replacing the defective part. I was quite impressed with the customer service that they provided and I would be happy to buy from them again.

Good idea, hastily executed.
The variable geometry rubber is an interesting design, poorly executed. The hood was warped and asymmetrical, as you can see in the photo of the drone by the distribution of the vignette. What I can't show is that this warping appears to cause the hood to collapse when in the middle setting because it won't hold the shape properly. I can't seem to figure out how to reverse the tulip hood. It could be me or the hood, but it doesn't matter. The lens cap is a bit fiddly to get on (compared to the canon caps that come with their lenses). *UPDATE*: With regard to reversing the tulip hood, I did eventually figure it out. The hood was seized on the attaching ring and required somewhat excessive force to remove. After this first instance however the hood now attaches, detaches, and rotates freely. One of the 4 spring bearing seems to be still be seized in place, and is the most likely culprit. The collapsible hood, though still warped, appears to be regaining its shape with time. I can't yet say for certain, but I've noticed it doesn't collapse under its own weight as easily as when I first took it out of the pack. *Original paragraph and title edited for clarity.* *UPDATE*: After posting my original review I was contacted by seller who offered apologies, a full refund, and a replacement product. The tulip hood worked properly, to say that there is no seizing and it detaches and reattaches from the ring without issue as it should. The rubber hood is, however, another story. This one was only slightly warped, as you can see in the photo of the lantern. However, it outright refuses to stay in place when you try to set it to the median position as shown in the video. So, I'll give the tulip hood 4 stars, and the rubber hood 2 stars, and average it out to 3 (5 stars for customer service though). If you really just want the tulip then you'll be fine. If you only want the rubber hood for telephotography then you also shouldn't have any real issues. Otherwise, maybe try something else. *Original paragraph edited for clarity.*

This little kit has arrived today so just 1st impressions for now. If I find any problems over the next few months I'll leave an update. What's in the kit: 1. Rubber lens hood which screws straight onto your lens/filter and has 3 positions depending on how much light you're having to control. The rubber is thinner than a branded version but absolutely works fine and bounces back to circular if it happens to get a bit squashed. 2. Hard petal type hood which is reversible for carrying/storage; the way this works is that the hood pops off a ring that screws into your lens/filter (see picture of tiny ballbearing mechanism of which there are 4 spaced evenly). Getting the hood on/off requires a simple push and has no 'play' once engaged. 3. Lens cap with lanyard. Smooth mechanism although for some with larger fingers the design of the part one would 'pinch' does not have a lip under which one might place the fingertips for better purchase. The lanyard is fitted by inserting the thin, but strong, cable through a small hole in the cap. What looks like a sim card tool is supplied for this purpose. Fiddly but manageable and the metal tool does not damage the cable. The other end is an elasticated loop which is quite small (a good thing) that can either stretch over your lens or tied in the traditional method to the camera lug/strap. 4. Fibre cloth which is about the size of something you might get from your optician. Always handy. Overall the quality appears to be good and the item solidly made and for £7.99 (if you can get it with free postage - £9.49 otherwise) it's something I have no problem recommending. These items don't effect optical quality so it's not like buying a cheap filter. Bearing that in mind I don't see any reason for buying branded goods that'll cost anything up to 8x more (and that's just for a hood!)
