Great Product, EXCELLENT Customer Service
We received our sonar sounder right away. It worked great for the first day, but then the screen fogged up and it died the next day. It only took one phone call to Norcross and Patrick in their customer service department assured me he'd replace it right away with a brand new one that he personally tested leaving it underwater overnight. He immediately sent me a new one, charged it to my credit card and included in the box with the new sounder was a postage paid return slip. I swapped the sounders sending the defective one back, they received it a few days later and credited my credit card back all the money, so now I have a brand new unit that has been personally tested by the company. Excellent customer service. I hope my sounder lasts for many years to come, but if it does have any problems over the next 2 year warranty period, I know that I am in good hands with Norcross' customer service department. Thank you Patrick!

Save your money. Great idea, lousy quality product.
Have had three of these, the 1st one manufactured in the US worked for about 4 years and crapped out. Replaced it with a new one, now manufactured in China, it leaked into the display the 1st time out of the box, it was replaced with a new one, that one worked on about 10 outings and it's now non-functioning, display only shows upper or lower half, no temp, depth works randomly, never when it's critical. If it's replaced in warranty, I'll use the replacement while it works, then I'm done with it, and done with the product line. Completely unreliable. Additional info- the latest warranty replacement worked on 2 outings, it's also failed. Don't buy it! Not worth the effort to keep sending it back for replacement. JUNK!!!

Potenitally Good But Did Not Work From Start
I believe this item is the same as "Norcross Hawkeye H22PX Sonar System" that has more reviews. The item was not working when it arrived new out of the box. The other Norcross item has reviews that reflect similar experiences. If it worked it seemed like it would have been a well built item, but it did not function from the very first try.

Solid Depth Finder
I purchased this for use with kayak fishing. For this purpose I am pleased in general since I fish in the Gulf of Mexico and am more concerned with depth than structure. Since it is self contained, it also saves you the effort of installing a battery and transducer in the kayak hull. I would consider this a depth finder only. I've been in areas where there were fish and have never seen the fish indicator show up. Furthermore, the manual recommends you swivel it around underwater to detect the fish. The problem with that approach is that when I drag it in the water next to the kayak and depress the button, it is very difficult to see the screen at all since the screen is submersed in water. Another issue I have is that the depth and temperature are read using the same button. Hit the button once for depth and hit it again within a few seconds for temp. Sometimes you want to take a second reading to validate the first and are confused for a moment when you see the temp value thinking it's the depth. It does have the F for Fahrenheit but its small so at a glance you don't always notice it. This is a very well constructed unit. One recommended use in the manual is for measuring distances of objects while diving. It is definitely build for it. They even recommend reapplying silicon grease on the battery cap threads from time to time. I've gotten this thing totally wet and submerged and have had no problems whatsoever. The batteries last a long time too. Overall a well build product with a few complaints. Having a self contained unit is a definite plus but I do sometimes second guess myself over not buying a full-fledged fish finder for a couple hundred dollars more.

Good at measuring depths
Works very good on depth but water temperature seems inaccurate. Good lanyard and it floats if dropped in the water

Instant response, accurate results
I can't say how well the Norcross Hawkeye H22PX Sonar System works as a fish finder. I have yet to see any fish icons displayed when I have used it at Millerton Lake near Fresno, California, but this sonar device really isn't advertised as a fish finder. It's advertised as a depth sounder and it seems to do an excellent job at that function. Submerge it in the water so the sensor on the front is fully immersed and press the button and you instantly have an accurate measurement of the depth of the water to a tenth of a foot (up to 199 feet depth). Press the button one more time and you have a temperature reading of the water. A switch lets you change measurements to meters instead of feet and temperature to degrees Celsius instead of degrees Fahrenheit. So far I'm very satisfied with it. If you want a fish finder, other devices (such as the Norcross Hawkeye F33P Fish Finder, for example) are much better suited for that purpose.

)Flat out poor program and product
DO NOT BUY. Purchased this item for use in the Caribbean , worked for 1 month and then the display stopped working . checked Norcrosses website and it indicates that you cannot get warranty service unless you registered with them within 20 days of purchase, which of course I did not do. (Would you have?)Flat out poor program and product, please do not buy unless they resolve these issues.

Not a good buy
As seen in several other reviews above, after about 3 or 4 occasional uses, the depth finder quit working showing only "_ _ _ _". Temperature still works. I changed batteries, and could not get the depth function to work. Not acceptable.
