Really powerful. Durable. Cool design. BUT one big problem.
This is a REALLY powerful little vacuum. It’s awesome. I’ve owned a few over the years. There is one major design flaw however that makes it inconvenient to use. The top separates from the body so you can change the bags. And the top is held on by two latches that constantly come unhooked and the top falls off and all the stuff in the bag falls out. So it’s not just that the top pop off it’s that everything you vacuumed comes flying out. I don’t understand why they can’t fix this one design flaw which would seem like an easy fix. Any amount of pressure placed on the nozzle when vacuuming causes the lid to pop off because the latches dont hold it. It’s so frustrating. BUT it’s the most powerful small vacuum I’ve ever used. I like the retro design as well. And it’s durable. I mainly use it to vacuum my car and it’s great for that but also to clean up small messes. One other suggestion is they make the cord a bit longer. Amazing vacuum. Awful latch.

Defective design.
2 years now I have had this unit. This is a cute unit and I really want to like it, but there are some key design flaws. It does fine on power, and I have not had any of the power unit issues others complain of: the motor is excellent and moves so much air out the back I use it as a mini-blower.I wanted a corded model, and it functions as I want it to (keyboard/PC cleaning, and as a stationary mini-vac for my plastic modeling table). The two issues are:1.) the strap is a useless afterthought. Around 12” as a loop, attaches around the handle, so the unit will dangle with exhaust pointing at your armpit, and the next issue being exasperated.2.) the front “cap” has two posts which are supposed to “lock” the cap in place at the front of the unit and keep the filter/bag secured between the hose and the motor. The “cap” is too loose; and thus any twisting action from the hose results in the cap coming off and the bag contents dumping everywhere. For my specific use cases the above issues are not critical issues, but they do prevent me from using this model as a small household vac, which is disappointing. I justified the expense by thinking I could use it for more than a tabletop vac. Further, it is inexcusable for such a defective design to leave the engineer’s desk let alone pass quality control inspections. There are many different ways to secure such a design, but none were implemented. Yet this unit is the most expensive model?!? Why? Because it is American? That used to mean something good: like redundancy engineered in, robust design, thorough quality inspection, and adaptive functionality, none of which apply here. What applies here is: half thought engineering, cheap production, lazy quality inspection, and price gouging.

Bolt the loose stuff down!
I got this to use on a mini disc/belt sander, and to clean up around a modelling bench. And CLEAN UP, it DOES! For its size it is voracious. As usual, I couldn't help tinkering, though. It would've been nice if they'd rigged it blow, too .. but, no. Attached to the sander, nothing escapes ... except for the smell. I keep a small windo fan exhausting over the bench, and I thought ...Okay, so Metro wouldn't be happy with me. I knocked out the tack-welded exhaust mesh ... and found that one of the adapters fit in there perfectly. I attached an old, cannibalized hose to the output end, and clipped the other end to the edge of my exhaust fan.Result: I can feed chunks of whatever I want into the sander, and leave ZERO trace in the room. Fantastic.I can and do still detach the vacuum for general cleanup ...and I have a blower, too! I didnt see any ultra-compact shop vacs that would do what I have rigged up.Of course OSHA and UL would have a small seizure over the un-meshed output, but what kind of nut would poke their hand in there?I think what they need to do is lightly re-engineer that back end and offer the extra adapter and hose as an accessory. Then, it's a 5.Very happy!

I am pleased with this nice little unit!
I am an Amazon Prime member for more than a few years, and learned to always check reviews. The specs looked good but there were more than a few two-stars on this unit. So I hesitated, then pulled the trigger on an Amazon Warehouse returned unit for a GREAT price. I am very pleased. Although just using this a few days now.I live in a 1400 sq.ft. farmhouse I am restoring. I clean up an awful lot of sawdust/wood chips/dried mortar but I don't often haul out my shop-vac for regular housework. More than a few cobwebs grew on ceilings and under cabinets and such because I need something less than the nuclear option to get at the creepy things. This thing is perfect as a light-weight corners and crannys and ceilings clean-up. Sucks like a politician's wife (picks up coins) and I don't understand the overheat complaint since even after twenty minutes straight the intake end is ice-cold and the exhaust is hardly warm to the touch, you can hold your hand over it. Bonus: Kitty recovery time is <=two minutes since it doesn't sound like a GE turbofan on takeoff.I am glad I did not listen to the naysayers, maybe a long-term test will show me some real faults, but I got more done the first few days I used this vac than I did in years before I owned it. Very happy!

Does not pick up.

best suction
awesome suction power. light weight too. if there is something to improve, it's adding more grip to the cap when cleaning the bag.
