Casual
This is goof because first it's not too gross with scenes that might make you look away from the screen or fast forward parts and it's the type that most people can watch without worrying over whose innocence can be turned. The story has two main characters one is a scientist and the other is the warden or the manager of a mental institution that brings the concepts of with first that people with mental trouble used to be treated badly with operations, and the second a person that wants to be like a doctor to find a vaccine that could help but he's kind of obsessed with keeping his daughter safe from the world. So the huge skeleton was bought by the scientist to compare the inside anatomy of this tribe versus the neanderthals that was interesting since the cave men were considered to have bigger forehead and cranium than modern races yet it was small next to the other one which he has books about. He also had this cute monkey for a pet, but when the finger from the skeleton was washed it grew a fleshy finger if you want my opinion it could have been some tree fungus inside of it because the dig site area was a jungle so the Rain Forests are protected because the trees can produce things like silicone so it's not impossible for it to have remained for hundreds of years. So when he was reading that the tribe believed that the White monkey god could end evil that was a sign that meant he could make the antidote, but unfortunately there wasn't much waiting time to really observe what happened when the blood from the finger began to attack the red blood cells from human blood so it was injected into the monkey. Not that I think these people support that research but it's kind of sad still because it went crazy and broke out of the cage and started twitching like the monkey was dying. So the scientist goes to sleep after looking at the microscope and seeing that the blood cells had an extra barrier around them, sadly by morning the foreign DNA had duplicated and killed too many good cells. But at the house his daughter was rebelling when she found out about some family having mental issues at the wardens hospital and he thought that he could keep her tame if she had some of the injection also, but she goes into town and doesn't know the pub is a Saloon for prostitutes so that doesn't go too well. That's when I would have wanted the scientist to at least go to town to see if she could be returned but he stayed at home and the police arrested her and took her into the mental hospital. That's when the manager looks at a blood sample and takes her back to her father to question. So he assumes that the tests weren't humane or ethical and seizes the notes and lab work. Eventually the skeleton gets drenched with water and walks around looking like the Grim Reaper but when you see the face at the end it's like one of those Murlocs from World of Warcraft they're kind of like fish that carry spears and keep gaining insane levels so I don't like those creatures . But it's the kind of movie that does have moments where the viewer won't agree or like behavior yet you don't have to when watching movies so I would watch it again sometime.

One Of The Last Of The Old School English Gothics.
The year is 1973. English Gothic Cinema is on the run. DRACULA A.D. 1972 has brought Christopher Lee into the 20th century. Period flavor films like THE GHOUL still have motor cars and other modern trappings. Tigon Productions, one time rival to Hammer who made WITCHFINDER GENERAL (1968) and THE BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW (1970) are now producing such fare as THE BODY STEALERS (contemporary sci-fi, not about Burke & Hare) and THE VIRGIN WITCH. They decide to have one last go at it. They gather Gothic superstars Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee and atmospheric cameraman-director Freddie Francis and concoct a tale, set in the Victorian Era, about an ancient skeleton which may be the root of all evil. Scientist Cushing who discovered the bones wants to study them, asylum director Lee who wants money and fame plans to steal them, and woe to anyone if they get wet as that makes them grow flesh (thus the film's title). Transporting them in a rainstorm proves to be a bad idea.Even though the story is predictable. the craftsmanship on display here from the masters of the form is extraordinary and THE CREEPING FLESH deserved a better fate than it got. You see the same year there was this little movie called THE EXORCIST and...horror movies were changed forever. Audiences were exposed to and then demanded over-the top thrills in a modern setting. They also demanded A budget special effects and so horror films moved away from the evocative to the literal and movies like FLESH suffered for it. Hammer would release 2 more Gothics (FRANKENSTEIN & THE MONSTER FROM HELL, CAPTAIN KRONOS: VAMPIRE HUNTER) but the die was cast. So what was once the norm in horror films became a subgenre for afficionados, people who appreciate story based, character driven movies with modest effects and loads of visual atmosphere. If you belong to that group, then THE CREEPING FLESH is one of the best although, to be frank, I'm not sure if I like the CALIGARI like ending.

Gothic horror with two timeless Masters of the trade....
Yes, the story could have been done better, but in this movie, you are getting some vintage Hammer horror with the matchless team of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. And in this lurid film, they are competing half brothers, each with a senseless purpose of exploring the realms of insanity, when , in fact, it is THEY who are really insane.Insane in several ways, of which jealousy of each other is in the first order...and Cushing's jealousy of his late Wife is what relegated her to an imprisonment in Lee's House for the Insane, which was his own house of horrors, due to the way he was treating the patients.thrown into the mix, is the mysterious "missing link" skeleton, which harbors it's own strange secrets, as it is not quite as dead as it looks. With the two of them hellbent on proving their preposterous theories, they basically destroy the lives of everyone around them, and almost without consequences, or so it seems until the ending!Be prepared, that this one moves very slowly, and unlike some of the other risque Hammer films, this one skirts around various issues of depravity, hinting at incest, murder, and several others in a way to escape getting a worse rating for the movie.nevertheless, for those of us who can't get enough of Classic Lee/Cushing, this one will fit the bill for the most part.

IMMACULATE PERIOD HORROR
EL ESQUELETO....... AKA The Creeping Flesh - I have been waiting a long time for this to become available at a more affordable price - and this (Spanish?) version meets that need. As stated it plays in English without subtitles, though do not expect to see the artistic scene depicted on the DVD sleeve - there is a saying that goes something like: "You can't judge a book by its cover". The same applies to DVD sleeves! The film stars the greatest duo ever of Horror films: Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, and appears to have had a costly budget as it looks absolutely splendid, is not short on extras, and is full of convincing atmosphere.Lee is at his towering best, restrained and authoritative, but Cushing as usual dominates the picture with another of his immaculate impeccable performances.SURELY this epitome of a Victorian gentleman MUST have lived through that period in some other lifetime for his many characterisations from that period to be so utterly convincing. He WAS a Victorian gentleman. There are some similarities between this and HORROR EXPRESS, which, though set on a train, also featured a type of grotesque missing link in humanities history. The film builds to a wonderful climax when the 'creature', which must be kept dry, is caught outdoors in a rainstorm, and there is an eerie final twist to the movie which I did not see coming! Wonderful!Well worth the money for a movie I have been waiting years to see. KAN

Fine horror
There is not much to say as most people know the work of Peter cushing and Christopher Lee. If you like old horror films this is a treat. It has got a style and mood that is believable. Which are unlike horror films today as there is so many gimmicks in today's films with special computer generated effects. In Peter Cushings film making days they did not have this. I have to say, it was not just this type of movie that this film appealed to me. The film maker managed to blend sex or an erotic theme with this movie. It was well blended. I like the scene where the girl enters a brothel house and is taken upstairs by a man. They wrestle it on the bed as she is not a prostitute. The scene is believable. They just do not make films like this today.
