Takes toner OUT of hair
I wish I had taken a before and after photo - I recently went to the salon and chose to get a different toner put in my blonde hair which did not take to it well. It was too ashy for me and I wanted a quick fix without setting up another appointment and spending more money. This stuff worked for me - one little packet , to my surprise, did the job. My hair is highlighted and 80% is a level 9.5/10 blonde. I used one packet on medium length semi-thick semi-coarse hair and it stripped out all of that ugly toner and set me back to having my bright pale blonde hair. No more granny grey looking, borderline blue hair! I have a lot of gold undertones in my virgin hair so the level toner we used just didn't do well with the amount of underlying gold in the natural tresses that still remain amongst my color treated hair. My hairdresser is great, it just happened to be one of those freak things that just didn't work/react well. I did not think one little packet was going to treat my entire head, especially when I realized this stuff is powder in the packet - follow the instructions and you should render results. I dumped the powder into my palm after shampooing and used just enough water to make it into a shampoo-like consistency and began to distribute it in my hair, concentrating on the worse areas first, and WOW this stuff lathers up like crazy. Almost like a science experiment level fizzy lather. So, it's fair to say the product will definitely distribute itself thoroughly through short to mid length hair. I let it sit while I carried on with my shower routine (it says no longer than 5 minutes, I let it set for about 2-3 minutes) and BAM I was back to my bright, normal toned/pre-toned blonde. It does say to shampoo again once rinsing the treatment out, and then conditioning. It did strip my hair making it feel very coarse during my shower, so I would recommend depending on your hair type doing an extra conditioning or deep conditioner or mask. I decided to skip that and did just my normal spray-in leave-in treatments pre-styling and my hair came out normal, although I did use a little extra leave-in conditioner to get the tangles out. And it DOES definitely tangle your hair so keep that in mind and maybe a wet brush and good conditioner on hand, especially if your hair is dense and coarse already. One more thing to keep in mind for those who depend on toners more so than I do - depending on the effectiveness of the treatment you may have to re-tone your hair, and maybe that goes without saying, but if you're just looking to "brighten" your blonde, be aware that this may strip out any toners you have. Luckily, that was the intention for my situation and it delivered 100%.

Been using for years and brightens hair like same day tone
I have used this product along with get the well out by same company for a number of years. I prefer this one and any time I have a lot of buildup or used too much purple shampoo, etc. this brightens and brings my hair to full blonde quickly. I have well water but it is not orange, just makes my hair get brassy faster. That said I have tried putting in measuring cup, with 1 ounce water, mixing. I do not prefer. I prefer to slowly add to hair with water in palms then brush through in sections. I have a lot of hair. Thick hair. This is plenty. I have read complaints it is not enough. Just sprinkle a little, use a little water, then next section. It works well. I always deep condition after. As a rule of thumb I always tell my stylist I have used this before visits. She does not think any thing of it. I just think it is best to disclose what I have done before appointments.

Great for brightening
Great for blonde hair! I use this treatment halfway in between my hair appointments and it helps bring back the bright highlights and removes the brass!

Use before my color appointments as we have well water and it's killing my highlights. I guess we have a lot of minerals in the water. I really wish I could remember to use this a bit more often. I do see a difference after I use it. My highlights look refreshed. I have tried the shampoo & conditioner by the same brand and I do not love those. The shampoo is okay but I do not like the conditioner. I typically use with other shampoo and conditioner.

Still no difference
Edit: After using 3 more packets there is still no discernible difference in my hair color. I’ve followed the directions to a t. Perhaps this removes toner, but not semi permanent? I’ve only used this product one time but I don’t see any difference. I am going to use another few packets to see if I can get the results I want. I have about 70% gray hair, and not the vibrant silver type, but a very drab gray. I used a semi permanent medium blonde color that turned my hair a very unnatural auburn like color, so I’m trying to get as close to my natural hair as possible ( even though I don’t like that color either). On a positive note, my hair is in about the same condition as before so no damage as some reviewers are mentioning. I will update this review when I use more of the product.

Slow and steady means healthy results!!
I’m a natural blonde and I took a chance and professionally dyed my hair darker which I regretted after a week. Not wanting to admit this to my hair stylist because she warned me lol I decided to try out these packets. Results are from using a packet every other wash and using K18 in between to preserve my hair health. The color that was used on my hair was semi-permanent and I would say these packets definitely worked! The color hasn’t completely disappeared but I wasn’t expecting a miracle. I have noticed more dryness in my hair when using these but nothing too worrying and I have not noticed any breakage. I will probably do another round of 3 packets in a month just to try and get rid of more of the color.

Follow the instructions
After seeing my favorite blonde YouTuber rave about this product I immediately ordered a 3 pack and anxiously awaited its arrival! It showed up today and I immediately started intensive research on the best way to use/apply. After reading about all the horror stories on Amazon I was terrified and wished I had read them before I clicked buy. I wanted it to improve the quality of my hair after all the abuse I’ve put it through, not hasten its death. Under my toner a good portion of my hair is near white due to over bleaching. After taking all the information I had gathered and using common sense I came up with my game plan. I shampooed my hair, brushed it out, mixed the Malibu blonde crystals in a bowl (not my palm) with 1 ounce of water as stated in the directions. There’s no way 1 ounce of water would’ve fit in my hand and since I regularly color my hair I had a bowl and measuring scoop on hand. The consistency I ended up with was that of a 20vol developer with a cloudy clear color. I separated my hair into 2 side sections and clipped. Worked the product through the bottom on one side, gently, combing through with my fingers and gently rubbing. Kinda exactly the way the product was shown to be used in the video that inspired this purchase. Then switched to the other side and worked my way up alternating sides for an even product distribution and hair treatment. 5 minutes later I rinsed, shampooed and did a semi deep conditioning treatment for a couple minutes. I was able to brush my hair easily after a normal towel dry. Easier than usual I would say actually. I saw a lot of people complaining about the smell and I didn’t really notice one until I was rinsing, then again a bit of a metallic smell until it had air dried. It definitely is not nearly as harsh of a smell as any hair coloring/lightening products I’ve ever experienced. My hair has been through it. Over the past few months I’ve been lightening my level 1 hair at home with 30vol, processing for 35/40 min about twice per month, once twice in a weekend. It’s taken quite a few treatments and I’m almost where I’d like it. Some of it is pretty damaged and brittle. I’ve had a few strands stretch and snap when wet. I bought this product to gently strip out some excess ash toner so that I have a better base to work with since I will be shifting tone to more of a natural blonde color once finished. I wish it had lifted a bit more but I have no doubts it did exactly what it was supposed to and lifted buildup from my rusty water, old layers of demi dye and blue/purple shampoo.

Buy this if you’re too ashy!
I buy a million things on Amazon and never ever write reviews. I wish I had taken before and afters. I looked for the quick fix by Malibu after having a very ashy toner done on Saturday. I couldn’t find it so I ordered this one instead in an attempt to fix my hair which looked almost grey/blue. I followed the instructions exactly, left it on my hair for 5 minutes and the result is nothing short of a miracle. My bright neutral blonde was back instantly! I’m so pleased!

Funciona muy bien
Me hubiera gustado enterarme de este producto al inicio de la pandemia, la verdad ajusta el tono de mi cabello y lo deja suave y manejable. Es muy útil cuando no quieres que se vean tus raíces.

Fantastic but pricey
Love this, it's a bit pricey but love what it did for my hair. If this was a little cheaper I'd buy repeatedly but for now I'll get it as a treat. I use a purple shampoo but did prefer what this did for my hair..... great product

Small, Too expensive
Overpriced. Way too small of a package of product for the price.
