Cutting NOT Required - Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote Shell Case & Pad fits Honda 2003-2012 Accord / 2006-2013 Civic EX / 2009-2015 Pilot /2005-2006 CR-V

Got this for a 2005 Accord key where the plastic around the metal blade had started to crack badly. I expected this to be a very quick install, but it ended up being a lot more involved than I expected. Not surprisingly, the instructions are very limited - here are some things I found that I hope you may find useful.1) Your old metal blade may be very hard to remove from the old key housing. In my case, since it was already cracking around it, I was able to snap it out, but if the housing wasn't damaged around the blade you may need to use side cutters to cut the plastic off around it. Trying to lever the key out of the housing may result in bending it if the plastic isn't already cracked - so be careful.2a) If you have a transponder (I did! See the first and second photos) you may be in for a wild ride figuring out how to deal with it. To start, it was incredibly difficult to remove, in addition to being press fit into the top plastic shell with a little cap over it, one end had a small blob of glue holding it in place. I ended up needing to cut out the plastic around it with an x-acto knife to free it.2b) Once the chip is out, there's no way to mount it like in the OEM key, just a space where it can go. It will definitely rattle around, and if the key ever cracks open for any reason it will almost certainly be lost - meaning you won't be able to start the car. I ended up using two little blobs of hot glue, one in the bottom of the spot where the chip sits, and then one along the top edge of the remote unit. If you choose to use glue, make sure you use a glue that can be removed! I almost used epoxy but then realized I would never be able to get the remote out to change the battery! Hot glue will keep it from rattling around inside, but then can be peeled off later when it's time to change the battery.3) The plastic frame that slides over the blade fits VERY snugly. If you have any crud on the blade, especially around the bottom, it will have a hard time going down. Clean the blade with an alcohol wipe or similar to get around this. Once it's clean, note the orientation of the frame to the blade, there's a taper at the bottom that should be clear, then pull the frame down with even pressure one each side. The hole in the blade may not perfectly align with the holes in the frame. Mine still ended up going together just fine despite this, but be aware of it.4) The blade/frame piece does not float between the two halves of the housing, it mounts into the back half. There are grooves it will slide into, then click into place. Again, if you look closely, it will be intuitive.5) The halves hinge together from the back of the housing, at the key ring slot.6) Do not over-tighten the screw - if it's not going in smoothly, take it out and make sure it's aligned well. Once it's all the way in, don't "torque" it down - you'll either snap it in half or strip the threading in the housing.This is a good product at a great price and I expect it will hold up well, but take care when assembling it or you'll end up buying another one.

These covers worked great on my mom's honda accord. The fit, were easy to install, and look good. Don't forget to remove the key transponder from the old fob. Thats a little black rectangle thing in your old fob that is probably held in place with a little glue. The transponder works with the car's anti-theft system so you can't hotwire the car. The transponder fits in the same place in the new fob. I would definitely buy this fob cover again, but I don't think I will have to because this one looks like it is built to last.

This product saved me a ton of money !!!! I went to the Honda dealer to see if they sell me the fob because my key broke off the fob and they wanted to charge me over $500.00 because they said I needed a whole new key and all when in reality all I needed was a fob. The lady told me that once the key breaks off the fob it’s no good and I need everything all again because it’s suppose to be attached to the key that it’s all one piece LIES this work just fine it’s secure and 100% working I had all the pieces to my fob mother board and my key so why would I have to purchase a new key to pay to get it cut and programmed. Honda clearly thought they was going to get me because I’ve seen plenty of times fob plastic pieces being sold empty and you just put it components inside them but trust and believe this works as it should thank yall and it was easy to put together

I have an rfid key/fob for a Honda CRV that snapped due to age and repeated stress. This enclosure fits the key blade well, and the button/battery/transmitter assembly sits like it should. however, there is a plastic nub that prevents the case from closing like it should. i used a safety razor blade snapped in half (don't judge me, i grabbed the very nearest thing) to shave this little nub off and it snaps together just fine enough. in order to make the key work, though, you have to transplant the rfid chip from your old one into this one. there should be a rectangular black/white tumor attached to the inside of your original key that can't simply be pulled out. mangle this with pliers until a tiny translucent black pill comes out. glue this into the free space inside the new key and it will work.Update 3/11/2025:The casing is very flimsy and does not hold up well under torsion. Disappointing, yet unsurorising. The design of these keys was very poor to begin with.

Had to replace my key cover because it wouldn't hold the screw in anymore. Bought this and it works great. It is super easy to assemble as well. It definitely saved me a lot of money from getting it replaced by Honda.

I have purchased this key cover for my Honda pilot three different times. It works great at first, but will eventually break again. I wish it had a stronger screw to hold the case together. For the price I can’t complain, but I do wish it would last longer. It’s super easy to install and looks similar to the factory key cover.

After 12 years one of my key fob’s battery for my 2013 civic si finally died (shoutout to Panasonic). The screw holding the fob cover together had blue loctite so me having little patience cracked the 12 year old plastic on both the top and bottom cover. The top of the cover is molded to the metal key so if you want to go oem a whole new blank is needed. If you break the bottom you can get a replacement from Honda for like $12 part #35114-TR0-A01. I didn’t want to buy a blank for $60 and then pay to have it cut. This was a perfect solution and extremely easy to use. Hardest part was lining up the holes takes a bit of muscle. Definitely recommend.
