Heavy but beautiful pictures and great recipes that grandma would have provided
The book is heavier and bigger than I expected (so it won't fit it in kitchen shelf). The book has beautiful pictures and great recipes that grandma would have provided. I'm so glad I can get a hold of this book in good condition with amazing pictures and authentic recipes from all regions of Mexico!

Mexico Cookbook
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this cookbook. I grew up with grandparents from Mexico. Unfortunately, I was a picky eater and refused to eat all the Mexican food as a child. As I grew into a young adult/adult, I found I LOVED Mexican food. It's too late for me to saver my grandparents cooking. My grandfather taught me how to make tortillas, which I will treasure all my life. I have been seeking a cookbook that may have their recipes in it, or at least close to it. When I received this book, I looked at the pictures and the beautiful land. Hearing stories as I grew up, looking at this book, it all comes to a full circle. I have only had time to try a few recipes, however, they have turned out good~~they are very close to what I have tasted from my aunts. The one disappointment, I have not located the enchiladas that my family makes. I have tried over the years to obtain the recipe, but it is a recipe that one needs to learn (no measurements). I will say this book seems to have the perfect recipes. Nothing that you would have to try to find in a specialty market. I am highly excited to try all of the recipes. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try authentic recipes! In addition, one receives the bonus of summaries of various locations in Mexico with pictures!

MEXICO, THE BEAUTIFUL COOKBOOK
THIS COOKBOOK AND I GO BACK A LONG WAY. I BOUGHT ONE AT COSTCO WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT IN 1991. I TOOK IT TO MY HOME IN CABO SAN LUCAS AND A MEXICAN COUPLE I KNEW SAW IT AND FELL IN LOVE WITH IT AND WANTED TO BUY IT FROM ME. I TOLD THEM I WOULD SELL IT TO THEM IF I COULD FIND ANOTHER ONE. I DID GET ANOTHER ONE AND GAVE THEM THAT ONE. THE MAN TOLD ME YEARS LATER HIS WIFE HAD COOKED EVERYTHING IN THAT BOOK AND HE LOVED IT ALL. I DISPLAYED MY COOKBOOK IN MY KITCHEN FOR ALL TO SEE AND WHEN WE SOLD OUR HOUSE IN 2007 THE LADY LOVED IT AND I LEFT IT WITH THE HOUSE.I THOUGHT OF THAT BOOK CONSTANTLY AND TRIED TO BUY ANOTHER ONE BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY. THEN ONE DAY I SAW ONE ON THE INTERNET. THE PRICE WAS $350.00. DID I WANT IT THAT BAD? I ALMOST DID. THEN WHEN I SAW IT ON AMAZON FOR$35.00 I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT AND ORDERED IT IMMEDIATELY. I AM SOOO HAPPY WITH IT. IT WAS USED BUT IT CAME TO ME WRAPPED SECURILY IN A PLASTIC JACKET AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I WILL NEVER LET IT GO TO ANYONE ELSE. IT WILL BE MINE FOREVER. THANK YOU AMAZON!!!!! PATRICIA GREENE

This is Real Mexican Food
I had many Mexican students in my ESL classes, and my boyfriend is Mexican. I have an extensive Mexican cookbook collection, personally collected recipes, and this is the book I go to over and over. The recipes are pertty easy for anyone who likes real home cooking; you may need to go to a Mexican store to find the banana leaves, epazote, chilis, etc. called for. But this food is like being invited to eat with a Mexican family. It has a wonderful variety ofcommon Mexican cooking methods and dishes. And what it calls regional are authentic; for example, when I visited Veracruz, I was served fish soup by different families and was a little upset I never got the recipes; this book pretty well duplicated the experience for me. The recipes are 100% authentic; you will not be disappointed. I have the softcover version and am going to buy the hardcover just to keep out for the pictures and keep my softcover for using in the kitchen. It's a good cookbook whether you are just starting out or are looking for something a little different for your Mexican repetoir. I HIGHLY recommend this cookbook!!!

Beautiful Indeed!
This is much more than a cookbook and rightly deserves it's title. Many people associate Mexican cooking with tamales, tacos and burritos which is no surprise as many of the Mexican restaurants in the US limit their menus to such items. This book goes beyond what Americans consider traditional Mexican cooking and highlights many of the recipes derived from their Spanish ancestors, executed with local ingredients. This oversized book is separated into regions and includes recipes as well as detailed information on the country. There is an extensive chapter on seafood including some excellent recipes which shouldn't come as a surprise since Mexico boasts a 6000 mile coastline. Extensive photography is also included in this book making it a suitable for anybody. If you can find a spot for it on your bookshelve, buy this book!
