no one will believe me but....
I don't do this often... to be honest, an item has to be SO BAD to make me feel I need to publicly complain about it or SO GOOD as to make me want to tell the world about it, and neither one of those 2 happen often. Usually I order a product and I get more or less what I was expecting, within a few varying shades of better or worse than hoped for....and that's about middle of the road and I'm ok with that. This saw however..... ohmy...... We had a ton of ice and snow over the thanksgiving weekend, MANY trees in our neighborhood shed limbs under the weight of the ice and snow.... and there was MUCH cleanup to be done.... My old chain saw gives me fits.... its the new gas, they don't like to run on this 10% ethanol stuff and its harder to get it started than it should be, and runs like, well....it runs poorly once you get it cranked. I just didn't want to fool with it... not in the ice and snow... SO.... I started looking for a good bow saw, cause I didn't already have one.... who needed it when they had a chain saw? right? BUT.... as I age, I start to understand not all the old ways were bad ways.... I watched reviews, read reports and finally decided this Bahco saw was for me... It was made in Sweden not China.... and while Sweden isn't USA.... its not China..... Its also made of steel, not aluminum .......good old last forever if you take care of it steel..... The blade was tempered steel, not tin, not pot metal.... so many of these things are such junk.....no sir... this is the one your granddaddy would have pulled down off the shelf and taken home, and if he had, its the one that would still be serviceable after years of hard use..... now the part you'll never believe.... but armed with this saw.... and a Bahco clearing axe 3022 ....... I was able to clear the deadfall in my yard faster than could my young neighbor with his shiny brand spanking new chainsaw..... So much faster in fact, that once I was done, the old man took his hand tools next door to help the young'un with HIS deadfall.... and was able to process most of it before it could get his chainsaw restarted..... he finally admitted defeat and cast his brand new 300.00 chainsaw aside and took over the saw while I used the clearing axe to de-limb he would process the trunks into firewood size sticks.... The saw cuts effortlessly thru 4 and even 6 inch limbs, we estimated with no downward force at all, no pressure on the blade.... the blade chewed a depth of near 3/4 an inch per effortless stroke.... we cot 4 inch limbs in 6 strokes and 6 inch limbs in about 10 strokes with 0 pressure applied to the blade.... just effortless cutting. We have several older folks in our neighborhood and we spent most of the day processing the deadfall and the work never became hard.... we never felt we needed to take a rest break do to the ease of the work... I attribute this wholly to the quality of the saw and its wicked sharp steel blade. My young neighbor returned his chainsaw to the Depot.....and has since ordered a bow saw..... I have since ordered the smaller size to have a matching set and one that can get in smaller places.... Let me tell ya straight..... look at the price of this saw.... you need to buy one even if you don't have a use for it right now, its one of those tools that you just have to have.... its better than a chainsaw for anything but processing a full felled tree..... its dirt cheap.... not often in this day and age can you get MORE than you paid for.... This item however is exactly that. Having used it...... I'd give 3 times its asking price to replace it. Its just THAT good

Fantastic Camping Saw!
I did a lot of research on bow saws before buying and they all said this was the best, they were right. This saw is a beast!!! Perfect for camping. I use it to cut up dry wood for firewood and then split the logs, the saw has been a complete game changer! I was using an 8ish inch folding saw before and the Bahco blows the old gerber saw out of the water. It cuts fast, removing material in both directions, so it takes less strokes to get through logs. I place just enough pressure to keep the saw in contact with the wood and the weight of the saw does the rest. I've probably made about 50 cuts at this point and it still seems as sharp and efficient as the day I got it. The biggest log I have cut so far was about 7" thick, but this baby could probably handle a 10incher (may take a bit longer/you will need a break)!!! At first I also struggled with blade guard but then I realized that you have to fold the side with the bend on it back (away from the center where the blade goes) and then the cover opens opens up and basically falls off the blade, and then you reverse the process and close it on the saw, locking it in place. After I figured this out, I am a huge fan of the blade cover. It will not accidentally fall off and is easy to get on once you understand how it works, important cause the saw teeth are no joke and will seriously cut/snag any fabric it touches (i keep it in my car). I will say getting used to the motion of the saw took a few cuts, but now I am used to it, its a breeze. I would just be sure to keep tensioning the saw to make sure its tight and straight cuts will be easier. Thankfully Bahco made the tensioning nut essentially a big wing nut that doesn't hurt bare fingers and is easy to turn/use. Also a big fan of the knuckle guard. Long story short, I will buy Bahco bow saws for life, although I think this saw will last me a long long time, due to the bow being one continuous piece of metal. Also love that the replacement blades are so easy to get!! Go Bahco.

Reliable fast cutting saw
I use this saw for tree pruning and bucking up green wood. It is a very good saw- it cuts fast, handier (and safer) than a chainsaw when up in a tree and well thought out. The thread type tensioner is a good design that allows you to maintain a high tension on the blade for efficient cuts. With this saw, I can buck up a 1/2 cord of green wood in six hours. Blades are easy to find and can be selected for green wood, dried wood or dry wood fine cut- a handy and adaptable feature. Best use is for wood under 8 inch diameter-compared to a chain saw, it is quiet, always starts, safer, doesn't need constant maintenance and very very cheap to use.

Great saw
This is a great bow saw, handles really well, cuts fast and is comfortable to use. I took off one star because the plastic safety cover is really difficult to put on the blade but if you don't use a blade cover then don't worry about this point.

Our Christmas Tree Cutting Saw
Very nice saw! Purchased this saw to use to cut down our Christmas tree. We find that the safety cover is very difficult to put back on.

Friendly to the environment and its speed may surprise you.
I had heard about the Bahco bow saw before and it's living up to its well earned reputation. I am in the process of raising the canopy on all of our trees where people have RVs and people on mowers. It's a LOT quieter than a chainsaw but it still eats through the limbs quick enough that your arms don't wear out so fast. It also helps to let the blade do the work and know that it cuts going forwards and backwards. A little extra pressure is fine but just don't try and rush the blade. Keeping the tree trimmed back this way also helps the tree get food to where it should be instead of feeding an arm growing out of an elbow. I purchased the Bahco 10-30-23 30-Inch Ergo Bow Saw for Green Wood and it's certainly a big tool ready for big jobs but that size does limit where this can fit but that's to be expected. I probably went through a dozen trees, with the help of a couple pruning shears, yesterday over the course of a few hours and by the time I was done I wasn't sore and the only thing I could smell was the fresh cut wood. No gas. No oil. Smaller footprint. If you are undecided this Bahco 10-30-23 30-Inch Ergo Bow Saw for Green Wood is one that will I buy again in the future and do recommend to others. I did purchase it and had it the same day for a little under $40($28.19 + $9.98 shippping). Not bad at all. It'll work off that amount after 1 season.

Great bow saw!
This Bahco rocks! I bet I have 3 crappy bow saws in the barn, you know how they work blades go all wonky cant get the cut to start correctly on either draw, cheap handles and poor tensioning systems. Not this Bahco saw, this thing is great! I recently took it to Arkansas dropping a bunch of trees that where too close to the cabin, ended up with about 2 cords of 4-8" dia fire wood cut at 18" sections and I did it all by hand with this saw. I bought 2 blades a green blade and a dry blade, easy to switch them out, the tensioner is well designed and never clogged up or was difficult to finger tighten/loosen.The saw cuts well with both blades, I found myself using the dry cut blade on a couple of construction projects instead of a traditional hand saw. Well worth the money! I have a folding Bahco saw that prompted me to purchase this bow saw, that folder has cut down numerous trees and processed a bunch of fire wood without failure or in need of sharpening, for several years. I am sure this saw will be just as good!
