Small and does the job.
From time to time, I need to temporarily increase tyre pressures for carrying a heavy load, and then drop them back down for a better ride and tyre wear. A trip to a petrol station each time is a PITA.A few cautions about tyre inflators:-Very few after-market compressors are available with crocodile clips to connect directly to the battery;12V lighter and power sockets aren't identical, the former are slightly bigger so some plugs are a loose fit and some plugs are of poor design;Compressors typically draw 120W (10A) or more, and 12V lighter sockets may be protected by a fuse rated at less 10A - check both your vehicle handbook and compressor before buying;Vehicle sockets are often only 'live' when the ignition is on, meaning the engine is running when you're using the compressor; This is a piece of emergency kit that you may need to rely on, so familiarise yourself with using it BEFORE you have to use it in anger! In view of these cautions, you may also want to buy a 'flying' socket with crocodile clips, like this [ASIN B01CDUU536].FIRST IMPRESSIONSGimmicky design, but small and easily stowed in the boot. Includes a fabric stowage bag, a trio of ball/beach-toy adaptors, one(!) knitted glove, and a 'manual' - one side of an A6 piece of paper; it's inadequate, misleading and lacking some essential information. To work out how it operates, I first tried it connected to the spare tyre, discovering that:-The power plug makes a good, reliable connection in our Subaru's 12V (120W) power sockets and in the 'flying' socket suggested above.Repeated presses of the R button cycles the gauge: kPa, bar, psi, Kgf/cm³, (not in the manual). The gauge reads to the nearest 0.5 psi, 0.1 kPa, 0.1 bar, 0.01 Kgf/cm², (not in the manual). After pressing the On/Off switch, there's a pause (½ second or so) before the pump bursts into life, so if you impatiently press it a second time, you'll turn it back Off again! (not in the manual).BRIEF TESTI tested it on re-inflating my full-size (225/55 R17) spare from flat (valve out) to 32 psi. Changing units from kPa to psi and setting the required pressure was simple, just keep your finger on the + button until the gauge gets to your required cut-off pressure. It took about 7½ minutes to fully inflate this fairly big tyre, pretty slow but it got there without getting too hot. Realistically, this (high-pressure) tyre compressor is never going to inflate anything larger than a big beach/exercise ball. The digital pressure sensor is a bit wierd – the gauge read 0.0 psi for about the first ½ minute of running, suddenly came to life reading 8.0, then after several seconds dropped to 3.0 then quickly went up to 3.5, then settled down to s-l-o-w-l-y climb to 32.0 (my set pressure) and stopping. After a few seconds the reading jumped to 34.0 (the factory default setting) and stayed there. My known-accurate 'stick' gauge then showed 32 psi so I'll stick to using that for checking tyre pressures – quicker and simpler too!The (2') air hose is too short (by some 6”) to reach a tyre valve between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock on 17” wheels with 55 section tyres (roughly equivalent to 65 x 16” or 45 x 18”).The (8') power lead is rather short for bigger cars without a rear power socket in the rear.So I've knocked off one star for:- inadequate and misleading instructions;- eccentric behaviour;- short air hose and power lead;- LED lamp that only illuminates the ground - high intensity flashing red would be more use!THE BOTTOM LINEIt's small, adequate, but its eccentric operation may lead some buyers to think they've got a dud. There are easier and better ways of checking tyre pressures. Cheaper rivals aren't rated highly for reliability with Amazon reviewers (so far).

Tyre inflator
The machine isn’t that big. Just input the psi you need for you car and it pumps up. It does work quite well and I don’t need to goto Sainsbury’s anymore.
