The Eye of Spirit: An Integral Vision for a World Gone Slightly Mad

Ken Wilber: The mind of Socrates and the insights of Jung.
It comes as a surprise to me that not many "literate" people have heard of Ken Wilber. I came to this volume because I had read an interview in which Wilber thought his essay "Integral Art and Literary Theory" was one of his best pieces. In "The Eye of Spirit," Wilber offers a collection of thought-provoking essays that examine"a world gone slightly mad."For a more personal Ken read his "One Taste" book in which he lets down his formidable intellect to reveal his humanity andgenerous spirituality. And, if you want to get a concentrated (like concentrated soup, you add water) mix of his thought and vision, dip into Wilber's "Brief History of Everything." Then go and spread the news about this remarkable man. It gives me hope that he is still among us.

On to Something...
I am and remain very intrigued by Wilber's work. He is a very informed and powerful thinker, and I find many of his propositions to be eye-opening. What I don't like as much is the tone of his writing. He often comes through as angry and flippant. I would enjoy his works a lot more if he adopted a more generous tone... Will I continue to read him? Absolutely!!!

Wilber's Spiritual Perspectives
Read it cover-to-cover. Besides providing an excellent, abridged treatment of Wilber's elaborate scheme, I appreciated the later chapters where his spiritual perspectives are articulated. What's unique about it is that he speaks from experience; it's not just theoretical. Don't miss the section where he talks about seeing everything in the universe as beautiful. It's a masterpiece of prose that speaks to the heart.

wow
Now I see why he is called an Einstein of consciousness. Despite of self repetitive style and situation when paragraph entitled in one way and you find under it text about some different things. This book is full of astonoshingly groundbreacking ideas.

A clear and concise collection of writings, mostly from other sources of Ken's work, that detail his model with a more eclectic focus that some of his more concentrated works.

I'm sure this is a brilliant book but I am not bright enough to take it in. I left off reading quite soon but may return to it later.
