Great Frame, strong, sturdy, and actually looks really nice
This is a great frame. It was easy to assemble, took a little bit of time but I'm a perfectionist and used gorilla glue in the dowel joints to give it that extra bit of sturdiness but it would still be plenty sturdy without it. I used the black and decker BDEDMT electric power driver and it worked great. You could assemble it fine using a screw driver by hand but if you have an electric driver it will make the job a bit faster and easier on your wrists.I've been using this for about 8 months now and it's just as good as the day I put it together. There is something about a couch where I just love taking naps on them and sometimes even just sleeping on them when I'm comfortable and don't feel like getting up and going to bed and this frame has held up and had no problem with my daily use.It doesn't creek, squeak, moan or make any other annoying noises when I sit on it or move around and I weigh a bit more than I should right now.The wood is quality hard wood, there was no smell or chemical odor, the cuts were well made and I didn't have to struggle to get any of the pieces to fit and the instructions were easy to follow, and all parts were included. Its what you expect when you buy something but it's amazing how many things you buy in life where a piece is missing or the manufacturer dropped the ball and you are just like "come on now, really" but none of that here.So good product, made in the US, relatively cheap and better than anything else available without spending hundreds more.

Perfect!
Made in the USA ... as far as I know. Exactly as described. Easy to assemble. Mind you my son-in-law put it together for me, but didn't seem to have any issues even with me rambling on and distracting him. A powered screwdriver was in use.No creakiness. The wooden boards run length-wise similar to a standard bench, which makes it more comfortable for sleeping, since they run the length of the body. It's super sturdy. My only complaint is the space between boards in the seat and back area is 3.5 inches and 4.5 inches in the middle (between the seat and back). In a perfect world the boards would be wider or there would be less space between them. The construction itself works perfectly well for general use as extra seating or an extra guest sleeping solution. For everyday use, some extra support such as cardboard or coroplast sheets may be needed to fill those gaps. I would also recommend a non-slip futon grip pad or yoga mat for the seating area to keep your mattress in place so it isn't slipping out.Fortunately, any futon mattress will work with this frame. And I do mean any, from a Japanese style floor mattress, to a cheap 6 in. futon mattress, to an expensive innerspring mattress, to whatever your heart desires. It is relatively easy to lift the back support beam into 1 of 4 seating positions from one side of the frame. It will fit into pre-formed grooves allowing your desired angle of comfort. If you have a heavier (thicker) futon mattress, you may need to remove the mattress to lift the back into the desired setting, physically move the frame back to where you would like it to be situated, and then place and adjust the mattress as necessary.I am a heavy person, weighing in at about 300 lbs with some back problems (spondylosis, osteoarthritis, etc.), living in a small apartment with limited space, and have found this to be a very viable solution to seating and sleeping arrangements.I actually prefer this over my standard full sized bed with a 12 inch foam mattress for sleeping.I have much less stiffness and more mobility after casually falling asleep on the futon watching a movie to sleeping on the bed that's supposed to support and align my spine. The futon mattress may need to be replaced from time to time, but this is a well crafted and sturdy frame that I expect to hold up for many years to come!Overall, I would recommend this frame over any other that is out there or I have tried in the past. And did I mention, made in the USA, enough said.

Need to know
You definitely need a drill to put this together. The instructions are clear-ish. I had to redo one part because I had the boards with the wheels the wrong way. I also want to note that when I drilled the top part on the bottom part it did not line up perfectly. However, I managed to put this together by myself in around an hour and I have put together various easy furniture pieces before, this one wasn't much more difficult. It helps to have a decent amount of room to put it together as well. Once put together the quality was pretty good, the wood pretty sturdy and you definitely want a comfy cushion on top (if it's too thin you'll feel the hardness of the wood). The couch folds easily and I have it in my living room. For me it was cheaper than a couch and works well as a bed so it was worth it for the price. It's up to you to decide if you want a real couch that's more comfortable or if you want to pay less for "get what you pay for" replacement.

AMERICAN MADE!
I needed a sleeper sofa for my little studio apartment, but unfortunately, due to the layout of the building, standard SOFA sleepers wouldn't fit thru the door. I recalled 25 years ago, having a wood-frame futon...I realized that this was a perfect idea. However...the old school wood hippie futons are very difficult to come by. This frame is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Decent assembly, excellent materials, American made in Georgia, very durable, and when folded, it makes a great couch. I'm thrilled to have found it, and at such an amazing price!
