Perfect little censer!
This little beauty is ideal for burning cones or sticks. I'm not understanding the negative reviews; maybe those users don't realize that it works best when you add a non-flammable substrate in the bottom of the cup to hold the stand? I added aquarium sand to 1/2 to 3/4 full. For burning cones, I use the small metal disc that usually comes with cones, set it level on top of the sand, and place the cone there for burning. The unit is lovely as the smoke twists and twirls out of the top of the floral lid. For burning sticks or coils, plant the brass stick/coil holder into the sand for stability and then put your incense in it. The sand keeps it from tipping, and also helps to disperse the heat build up. Another hint is to trim the base of the incense stick until it just reaches the bottom of the incense. That keeps the base from seeming too flimsy to hold the stick. The sticks are made with longer base sticks to use in the ash holding narrow trays, not for holding in a vertical stand such that comes with this. Expect not to use the lid when burning a stick, to allow the ashes to drop down into the censer. So use sand, trim your sticks, and congratulate yourself on buying a simply beautiful and inexpensive little censer that you will absolutely love.

Perfect for my needs.
To be frank, a fair amount of people getting these aren't doing so for decorative piece, they are getting them to be used quite a bit. The cone/stick holder is a nice little bonus, though not really all that sturdy, but again, most people getting these would be using charcoal brickettes anyway, which this beautiful piece is perfect for. The addition of the protection matting actually is a brilliant touch as it helps maintain the integrity of the piece. If you are thinking of purchasing for a specific usage, as in 8x13 and intermittent work, do yourself a favor and get it. If you are thinking of purchasing because you want a cute conversation piece to hold cones or sticks, yes, get it, but consider putting a small layer of sand of decorative stones in to help balance the included holder.

Actual Purchaser
I’m bummed that the incense holder doesn’t actually hold the stick by itself it unfortunately toppled over. I suggest buying marbles or sand as I’ve shown in the pictures. Other than that it’s a beautiful piece, I also like the fact they give you a little circle of fabric to keep underneath so it doesn’t slid wherever you place it.

Love This Incense Burner!
No more messy stick holders with incense ash falling everywhere. These cute little burners are the best! The adapter included allows for stick burning that keeps the mess contained in the little dish. Be sure to follow directions using the little mat contained inside. I see there are multiple sellers for this item and this seller gives the instructions. Break off most of that stick and then insert it into the adapter. It works great!! We also enjoy burning cones in this burner. I bought three of these for deodorizing, with 4 cats and 1 smoker we needed them. I use tealight holders inside this burner for easy dumping of ash. That's just the way I like to do that, but it's not necessary. Super Great purchase!

Beautiful and works for incense cones, but not incense sticks
The bowl looks very nice and works well with incense cones. The smoke makes very nice patterns when it comes out of the lid. The little metal holder is very light and has a small base. So if you put an incense stick in it, it is very wobbly and does not feel secure at all. The lid also rests only on top of the bowl, it doesn't have a solid fit. So if you bump it, the lid will slide off.

For the price, it's great!
I spacifically wanted a red incense burn in the style of a dish. As some of the reviews said, the center cone part that holds incense sticks is not very stable, infact it tips right over with the weight of a stick in it. I simply added a piece of air dry clay inside the cone to hold the stick better and glued it down to the dish with some E6000. Problem solved. For the price, I didn't mind having to fiddle with it a bit to get it to work for me. In fact, I think I'll be ordering the three other colors as well.

Lovely little piece
I'm fond of the appearance of the paint on this small piece, it has a lovely smokey effect. The top cover has a detailed, swirling pattern that makes the incense opening appear unassuming and uninstructive to the design, but easy to identify when placing the incense. It tends to catch and splatter falling ash from burning incense rather than letting it pass through, though, but a decorative fireproof mat should be used under pieces like this.

Horrible
Super cute, but when you put the incense cones inside the top of the burner hides the smell your burning, and smells really bad. Very flimsy made
