MSI Intel B85 LGA 1150 DDR3 USB 3.1 Micro ATX Motherboard (B85M-E45)

I got this for a steal, so if I had to pay full price it would be closer to 4.5 stars. Good board, not the best, but for the money...yes. This is a great little board that has 4 expansion slots, more than most other mini-ATX boards. Setup is very easy, but be forewarned, this is an ECO board, and is designed for just that. Don't be surprised that there are no voltage controls, no FSB frequency control, no voltage controls for anything. That all being said, it has been running great so far. The ECO tool appears to function as advertised, and this thing is spot on with power management. I can't say the same for many other boards that I have built with over the years, there always seemed to be some power state that got funky, but with this no issues. The BIOS is friendly, setting up X.M.P. for my memory worked perfectly. Which, with an ECO board sounds kind of counter-intuitive but hey I want ecology and some performance after all. Lots of regular, clearly labeled and explained options. Flashing was a breeze. It pulled in right from the USB, recognizing it without me having to hunt for anything. Just put the new update onto the USB drive, rebooted, went into the menu, clicked the M-Flash and away it went. Easy-peasy. A little warning, at first I thought I had a DOA board, and I hadn't hooked up the monitor, but was expecting to see at least fans moving. What ended up happening was, since I was using a Dell HSF that I rewired the pin header, the pin header was off by one pin when I put it on the header (it has 5 pin holes and the lock mechanism I shaved off to get it to fit so I had shifted pins by 1 each). The board, cleverly picking up this issue, stopped all function. It took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on, but since this board has NO BOARD LED FOR POWER PRESENT, that had me confused. I had to clear the CMOS before it would do anything. No fans would spin, nothing. So just in case that helps someone else. A board power LED should really be in this board. ECO or not, because they are like micro-watts or less. Truly. One strike MSI designers! A board should ALWAYS indicate power present. But hey nothing ground-breaking. The MSI software all works way better than expected and doesn't cause any issues on the system. Very very happy with this board so far. My only complaint is you should be able to tweak the 3 pin fan header output to slow your fans down. It's kind of annoying to have everything else running auto and not being able to roll down the RPM's on the secondary exhaust fans. I'd like it quieter. All in all this is a good motherboard. It would be great for a low power NAS system. I have it as a multi-purpose desktop/HTPC/etc box.

This is a great ATX mobo for Win 7 or 8 when paired with an Intel Haswell i3-4130, 8 GB RAM DDR3 1600 C9, 240 GB M500 SSD, SATA DVD-RW drive, and newer Antec 450W PSU. For someone looking to upgrade from an old XP box, the only caveat is that there are no IDE ports nor floppy drive ports if you want to use this with older optical and floppy drives. This has probably been the norm for many recent boards, but if you are just now getting away from XP, you should know this. You will need to update the optical drive to SATA and use a USB floppy drive with this mobo if needed. The integrated graphics of Haswell are good and rivals an older Nvidia 6800 GT from 2005. It is decent for video playback and even light gaming. The mobo has plenty of SATA ports and USB ports for most people. With the M500 SSD, I can boot into Win 7 Home x64 in under 10 seconds. I also updated the PSU to the Antec VP-450 450W to get all the SATA power connectors and the two 12V mobo connectors for the mobo. This is a solid and attractive looking board overall for those looking for an inexpensive ATX sized mobo for a midtower to use with Haswell cpus. The B85 chipset is meant for business class desktops, but is finding a niche in economical, stable, yet performance oriented, non-overclocking uses. The UEFI Bios is a pleasure to work with too. The only setting that needed to be done manually was set the XMP profile for the RAM. The bios also supports saving multiple profiles to facilitate switching between saved settings. For reference, I updated this on a computer that had an Athlon 64 3200+ with 1 GB RAM, 160 GB SATA hard drive, on an old Chaintech VNF4 Ultra socket 939 mobo running Win XP for over 7 years. The user just got a hot rod with Haswell and this mobo fit her budget, especially when it was on sale for $69. Hopefully, the MSI Military class components will last as long. Many of my old Chaintech VNF4 Ultra boards suffered from busted capacitors after 5 years of use, but that is another story.

2015, I purchased the MSI Intel H81 DDR3 USB 3.1 Micro ATX Motherboard, an excellent choice for my budget build. The motherboard was reasonably priced and performed well for its generation. It had the Intel H81 chipset, 16 GB maximum RAM capacity, and a 1333 MHz memory clock speed, efficiently handling my computing tasks at the time. The plate_number_1 CPU socket also suited my needs, supporting several popular processors that fit my budget. I was impressed with the Military Class 4 Components that ensured the motherboard had solid build quality and durability. Additionally, the Fast Boot feature was convenient, and I appreciated the flexibility of having several output options, including HDMI, DVI, and VGA. However, it's now 2023, and the gaming industry has advanced significantly over the past few years. While my motherboard still functions, it needs help to keep up with modern games due to the DDR3 RAM technology and the limitations in memory clock speed that have become bottlenecks for large, resource-intensive applications. Overall, the MSI H81M-E34 was a reliable, well-constructed piece of hardware that served me well for its age and price point. It's perfect for basic computing, web surfing, or running older games, but it could be more suitable for playing the latest AAA titles or using graphics-intensive software. Consider investing in a more current, high-performing motherboard to build a system for modern gaming or high-demand applications.

Par rapport au prix, cette carte propose tout ce qu'il faut pour assembler un mini PC performant et pas cher.Montée dans un boitier Aerocool QS101 avec processeur Intel G3220+4 Go de DDRIII et un DD de 1To+graveur, cela donne un mini PC performant et silencieux (l'alimentation SFX est une Silverstone 300 W dont le ventilateur ne se déclenche qu'au delà de 150 W donc jamais dans cette config !) Aucun problème d'installation de W7 pro et compatibilité mémoire OK. Pas la peine de mettre plus cher ! Je recommande cette carte.

Had to replace my old motherboard and this one was not only affordable but compatible with my current setup. Dedicated slot of PCI video card, and two slots for PCI-E Wi-Fi card and Sound card. Awesome piece of hardware that instantly recognized my chipset and other hardware components right away with no issues. Installation manual was very detailed and this was my first time replacing a motherboard!. Overall I am very satisfied, and I would probably buy another MSI motherboard in the future.

Buen producto, hace su trabajo bien, pero cuidado si llega a fallar ya que aunque se vende y publica en México la garantía sólo es válida para los Estados Unidos la registres bien en el sitio o no, sólamente cuando les llamas es cuando te llegan a dar esa información ya que el sitio no te deja proceder con eso. Fuera de eso todo bien, aunque preferiría que la tarjeta integrada de audio fuese mejor o de plano tuviera un mejor volumen.

Ich verwende das Board im PC meiner Tochter mit einem i3-4150, 4 GB Samsung-RAM und einer SSD. Der Rechner wird für die üblichen Office- und Internet-Aufgaben, aber auch gelegentlich Spiele, Videos und Fotobearbeitung genutzt. All das tut er zuverlässig und rasend schnell. Die Ausstattung des Boards ist für einen solchen PC völlig ausreichend. An der Bauqualität wurde, soweit ich das beurteilen kann, nicht gespart; mein Board ist sauber verarbeitet und hat solide Komponenten, vor allem durchweg All Solid Caps. Mit diesem Board nutze ich tatsächlich das erste Mal ein grafisches BIOS. Muss man nicht haben, ist aber ganz nett. Zum Kaufzeitpunkt (10/2016) war das Board mit knapp 44 Euro das günstigste H81-Board für den 1150er Sockel. Wer ähnliche Anforderungen hat wie ich, der muss nicht mehr Geld ausgeben - das MSI H81M-E34 ist völlig ausreichend und empfehlenswert.
